Theme interpretation
I added a phone connection on the top right of the screen that will increase as you get higher up.

Players Notice
I'm not that great at coding and this was a solo project.

Development Software
Godot, gdscript.

Accessibility
I wasn't able to really implement any accassibility. It's still basically a skeleton.

Interesting concept with a "Jump King" like game but more like a "Wall Grab King". The controls felt often inconsistent with sometimes not being able to diagonally jump up a wall and grab it again.

Good job creating this game. I was able to beat by just wall clinging on one side till I W keyed outta there. Not sure if that's intended though. The slipperiness of the platforms didn't feel great on the tiny platforms though. I would say the only other thing I would do is add some interaction for the dialogue pieces.

Congrats on submitting!

Few things though:
1) you might probably want to change window-> stretch -> viewport, so the game image would scale with viewport. Currently on 2k screen everything looks smol
2) rn there is no real danger to main character, might wanna add some traps at least.

Managed to beat the game, and just yolod off the tower into the void afterwards since theres no real endscreen.

Would have been fun to see a rescue cutscene similarly to the beginning one.

Bit of feedback I can give is make sure to never auto-skip dialog, you as a writer know your story so you can read it faster, but this is hard for people that never played the game / are not natively english speakers.

Had a few falls but usually was able to recover using the wall jump mechanic which was quite fun to use, just felt a lot of the physics were really fast, and stuff like sprint didnt really affect my movement speed.

(Maybe it had something to do with being on high refresh rate? But I'm not sure.)

I recorded my gameplay session alongwith realtime feedback, feel free to reach out for a link. :D

Thank you for the review! I'll make sure to improve on the storytelling and UI for the future. I would love to get the Link to the review.

It was enjoyable to play a fast paced platformer! I even liked the different set of tiles and sprites you made for them. I think some quality of life features such as coyote time and jump buffer would help improve the experience. Some notable issues were the controls in game being written incorrectly, and the dialogue being easy to miss by running past it. My only other real issue is the wall jump. It can feel very irresponsive and hard to do right with the current set of controls. Overall, I enjoy the direction you went with the gameplay! Nice job with your entry!

yay I completed the game XD

I think I didn't manage to unslatch with S properly

I did it by pressing W repeatedly.

Coincidentally, I found a bug where you can climb only with 1 side of the wall, with holding the direction to the wall and pressing W repeatedly.

This makes me easier to navigate around with only 1 wall.

A short little platformer! Interestingly, we don't have a lot of this jam (or maybe it's just me not playing all of them). Not sure what your level currently is, but for a beginner (I am guessing) into game dev this is quite a nice attempt! You got the basics of a game, movement controls, a level, and even a story! And you did that all by yourself too, which is always much harder than it needs to be. Trust me I know :) I also really like the way that you separated the levels into different zones, and it makes the game more interesting to play, it serves as a good indicator of where you currently are, and gives the player a sense of progression.

For some feedback, I'd say the wall grabbing controls are a bit off, where it don't grab when you intended to do so. Its not that bad that I can still complete the game with ease, but it would be much better if it were better tuned. I would also suggest adding a bit of coyote time into the mix, especially when your player character moves that quickly, adding that would make the controls much more responsive and thus a better experience. Another minor suggestion is to make the dialogue text stay for a while after you leave the trigger zone, giving the player a bit more time to read that nice little story you've written.

Anyway, hope you enjoy making this game. I certainly enjoy playing it! Keep up the good work and keep making games!

It's a good start for a beginner game, especially because you did it all by yourself!  The movement feels a bit stiff and inconsistent when you glue to a wall. For future projects, you could try to focus on creating a shorter game that allows you to dedicate more time to the gameplay and improve at coding.

Pretty good game for a beginner, there were some issues:

Visual:

The game's ui was pretty bare bones, but the sprites were pretty good, although the background could use some love.

Audio:

Song was pretty nice, no sound effects though :(

Gameplay:

The usual package for gamejam platformers:

- Could use some coyote time

- The character was a bit too fast

- The wall jump seemed 'sticky'

Overall:

Despite the flaws you should be proud of yourself, it's not easy to make a game but you did it in 2 weeks, and it's experience that'll last with you. Good job and keep jamming!
