Theme interpretation
I incorporated the theme in terms of it being a poor infrastructure connection (i.e. a terrible road). Since each road piece the player places is randomised, you generally end up with a pile of road spaghetti (a poor connecting road) instead of a nice streamlined highway.
As a bonus I added buildings on each level which can be "connected" to the road, in a less than ideal way.
Players Notice
This is the first game I've ever made, and the first game jam I've been a part of. It isn't the most advanced game by any stretch, but hopefully you can have some fun with it.
Be sure to read the How to Play section on the Itch.io page since there isn't any in-game tutorial!
Development Software
The LÖVE game framework, Visual Studio Code, and Aseprite.
Accessibility
I made sure the game was playable through the browser, since downloading the game separately just to play it would be a pain. Other than that it was mostly subtle things (highlighting squares, buttons changing on hover/click, etc).
I also added a basic options menu for turning on/off sound and music. The desktop version also has an option for making the window ~50% larger, which is a thing.

humourous game. Loved it through and through. Didn't "get" it the first level but after the first level it was great! Good job. Love me some love2d
I had great time "connecting" critical infrastructure on these small islands, for a first gamejam the project is really well made & polished, especially considering you used a low lvl engine like love2d!
I loved the humor in the gazette, the ethics of the construction company are a bit laid back though ;)
Great job! Keep making awesome stuff!
I also recorded my gameplay session which has additional feedback, feel free to reach out for a link. <3
Congrats on finishing the game! Neat byte sized experience. Would like an explanation on how do you actually "connect" houses, are you supposed to destroy them or is there another way?
Loved the music and sounds.
i liked it, but i have a few small gripes,
first, there wasn't really much of a challenge, as even if you got road that didn't fit, you could just place it somewhere since you usually have a lot of connections leading to nowhere and with rotation almost any road piece could fit anywhere you wanted
and second, an ingame tutorial would obviously be nice to have and also keybinds for the different road pieces so you don't have to keep moving your mouse to the bottom of the screen
but it's really cool for a first game! good job
I really love how soothing this game is! The gameplay is calm and the music suits it perfectly. I would recommend having an in game tutorial next time, as people often skip through the description on itch. Another thing I would like to point out is that the water in the menu screen moves kind of roughly. Having it move smoothly would be nicer on the eyes. Other than that, your game was enjoyable to play! Nice job on the entry!
"connected" I see what you did that XD. Anyway, this is a nice, calming road-building game. I had fun playing it. At first, I was always ending the level with 0 connected and was genuinely confused. Not until I accidentally did something wrong that I realise I played the whole game incorrectly. Nice twist! The deck road build system is nicely done, though I think it is a bit RNG at times. The cute pixel graphics and cosy music fit the game quite well, making a nice overall package for the game! Well done!
For some minor criticism, I'd say the game would really benefit from some challenge for the player. Being godly and doing whatever you want is nice, but players do need to put in some effort in order to make the experience engaging. Also, you might need to hint at the twist a bit more, as currently it's too subtle and players might not get it. Game is also a bit short, but you do need some variations to expand into longer levels, or else gameplay would get stale quickly. I don't know, something like resident resistances, rival road builders etc, might be fun.
Anyway, this is a surprisingly nice entry! Well done!
Completed all of it XD
simple and calming game XD
really enjoyed playing it
sometimes I got an awful deck and just can't progress and that makes a T road and + road become more important in this game
really interesting XD
Simple game with a good art style that fits well with the gameplay. The gameplay becomes repetitive quickly, but it's fine for a short game.
Cute little game! The gameplay is a bit repetitive imo, but the art style and overall presentation are incredible. I also respect your choice of framework A LOT.
Really great entry for a first one!
Visuals:
The sprites could use a bit more work but overall the game looked consistent.
Audio:
The music and sounds fit the game and everything sounded nicely!
Gameplay:
Took me a while to realize i needed to connect the building but it's a very interesting concept.
Overall:
Really good job, it's rough around the edges but overall amazing submission. Good Job!
