I suggest you get a translator or someone to proof read your game first because the language barrier is really intense.
cool game keep it up !!
Review for Out School
Okay, so first thing I noticed was that the game title is bugged out and reads #{text.title} which doesn't bode well for the entry. I like the title screen, however I feel like the light particle effects are too much. I am also happy to note that I finally find an entry that has the Synch FPS plugin embedded, so excess frame rates should not prove to be a problem.
The look of the menu reminds me of old SNES classics like Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger. I like that.
In my opinion, having the game use the WASD control scheme and no way to change it is a fatal flaw. Sure, most keyboards allow natural movement via these controls, but I think French keyboards use the AZERTY scheme that becomes inconvient when playing with this scheme. Was there a real reason to move away from the arrow keys or was it just personal preference? If the latter then I hope you can consider re-implementing arrow key movement, and perhaps give the player a chance to rebind the keys as they see fit?
Once the game starts I am already receiving string errors: DANG learned '# {SKILL_ID: 14}!' etc. I also heard that the game suffers from bad grammar, but, honestly, I wasn't aware it was this bad. The game should seriously go through a proper spellcheck by a person that is proficient (or even better if a native speaker) in English. There's also some weird debug-like messages like "Playing footsteps_08_mono" shown briefly.
The main character looks like Kiriyama Rei from Sangatsu no Lion anime, I hope this is just a coincidence. After the short introduction, I enter the menu to see that I'm suddenly accompanied by two others, I think the other is my sister? No idea about this Tuan fellow however. I also noticed that there are no icons for menu categories. (Nevermind, the icons loaded after I closed the menu once and reopened it)
The graphics seem to be a mixture of custom and RTP. The music is somewhat smoothing.
The controls seem to really favor mouse movement. I noticed that you use pixel movement, which is a daring thing to do, but I cannot use the WASD keys to use in anything but cardinal directions. I also noticed that it seems that the mission (quest) log on the left doesn't register mouse clicks below it, rendering mouse movement to the left somewhat moot.
Aha, after talking to some random girl in the courtyard I am familiarized with the game buttons. From there I will finally see an option to change keys. However, my earlier point stands. You should bring this option to the title screen and probably use arrow keys as default.
I entered a fight with a policeman when riding the motorcycle. There I caught a glimpse of the interesting SRPG battle system, however there were issues where my healer could not travel forward as his route was blocked by the tree sprite that had no passability despite logically being so. I also did not find out how to exit the motorcycle and couldn't progress that far into the game. The lack of instructions didn't help either.
Sadly I only noted that the developer acknowledged this in his comment below after trying out the game. Therefore my game time was cut pretty short. In my opinion, having us waiting while playing is a questionable practice and should usually be avoided.
Thank you for your review
Talk about the icons because it has a capacity of 6Mb (Megabyte) size. (Including: 2000 items/ 188 weapons/ 206 armors)
So it didn't load at the time when the player access to the menu. I'll separate them in the future.
The problem is waiting 10 minutes (or kill all the police) because they need to earn money to buy weapons and equipment.
This is necessary because the instructor will leave you after completing the task.
In the end, you have to defeat with the boss by yourself (Or will have an ally if your previous choice is clever)
Tactical RPG: Out School - PHI boss fight / Final Mission - Gameplay Walkthrough
Cool!
There's a lot of interesting stuff at play here. Overall, it needs a lot of polish.
Still, with what little time you had and how you made use of it,
I think you've got a strong core here!
There was some nice attention to detail, like the motorcycle slowing down in sand.
I also like how the IGMC logo was incorporated, that was a nice touch!
You basically started an open-world game in a month.
I'd be curious to see how this entry would turn out with the proper time and budget.
TOTAL PLAYTIME: 45 MINUTES
FINAL VERDICT: Of course I chose the helicopter.
I wonder how long it will be until we see this service in the real world...
I'm drawing a larger map. and add some more mini-games.
Of course there will be farming, cooking, and pet system.
Thanks!
After an hour, I made it all the way to the "go to the original room". Never found it.
Cats are op when they aren't missing 50% of the time. Dang and the girl just cheer on the cats from the sidelines.
The story is interesting. The art and music is amazing, however, the art culls a lot when using free grid movement. This is most apparent during battle.
The mini-games were interesting but a little bit generic.
The battle system. Why am I beating up "Blue Army guys" and not run them over going 60 mphs?
Overall, good job!
Thanks!
Oh, that room was not built yet, so there's an employee standing opposite you (in that room)
TUAN was very strong but left you behind after the tutorial ended. And then you dead (forget skills) after PHI boss defeats you
I still upgrade mini-games with mode: easy, normal and sandbox and more minigames
I'll try to remove using free grid movement.
WARNING: READ BEFORE PLAYING
Thank you for downloading my game, I'm so sad to write these paragraphs. The game will be freeze (crash) when you use the character TUAN to cast skill "Mana Ball" in the battle without aiming at the enemy. (Casting skill "Mana Ball" should be targeted to the enemy unit, No errors will occur). The game only encounters bug (freeze/ crash) when It's in the battle. But don't worry about it, because there is data saved before the start of the match. (That is auto save game to slot 3)
Talk about the second mission, when you get a motorbike running through the city. You have to wait 10 minutes for the contest to start. During that time you do what you like, earn money from matches or simply go sightseeing.
The language barrier was really tough to get through as I couldn't figure out how to get off the motorcycle or where I had to go really. I saw that there were the quest markers on the map when in the city but I quite honestly had no idea what was going on.
That being said, I see a lot of potential in the SRPG style of combat there were quite a few skills to use and summoning cats is always a plus.
The art and music were both gorgeous and seemed to fit well together. Curious to see how far this game comes along but the issue of language was hard for me to get past.
Thank you!
The signs on the map to guide you to perform side quests/ easter eggs (after you complete all main quests first)
As I have mentioned in the previous comment:
Talk about the second mission, when you get a motorbike running through the city. You have to wait 10 minutes for the contest to start. During that time you do what you like, earn money from matches or simply go sightseeing.
The story is still in development, each time the player chooses the appropriate answer, it changes the plot and difficulty of the game.
Thank you for giving me a little more idea to do it better.
NOTE: Do not save slot 3, It's auto save game.
Hello!
I've just completed a Let's Play review of your game, and I'll include the link below. I liked the unique art style and the battle system seemed to be very thought out and I was enjoying it. The game did unfortunately crash when I tried to cast "Mana Ball", so I was unable to finish. The language barrier was also a bit difficult to get around, and the tutorial scrolled by a bit too quickly for me to catch. You have a good baseline here, and I'd love to give it another look once you get time to work through the prototype. Good job!
Thank you for playing.
As instructed by NPC, you will know that key M is open mini map.
You will be tracked quest by the symbols on the mini map
Casting skill should be targeted to the enemy unit, otherwise you will wait longer for the skill to be processed (animated effect).
After that battle. There will be mini games.
Thank you for the review, the next version I'll get native speakers translate complete in terms of language.
Hello, Ung Hoang Phi Dang!
The first impression of the game was incredible. I really liked the graphics and dialogs from the beginning. The soundtrack was also very enjoyable.
However I thought some things were not clear. Like, for example, after I got the bike, I had no idea that the cops would call me to battle. I also have no idea how to get off the bike.
Another thing that disappointed me was the tactical style of battle. I thought there was nothing to do with the game itself. The style of battle and the style of play, in my opinion, are incompatible.
But I still think a lot of cool things can come out!
When it comes to getting the motorcycle, it's part of the story so it's can't get off the motorcycle.
I planned to design cars, motorcycles, and bike,.. It will change the speed of your move, You can buy it in the sports shop. Also you can change the appearance by visual equipment (clothes, decorations,..)
I should have made the police chase you. But I forgot, I'll change this in the demo version.
The footsteps sound too small I think should reduce the volume of background music.
With the style of battle, I'll listen to people's opinions and calibrate for the best fit.
Shouldn't you credit this guy on this page who made the resources you use? All characters, tilesets and pictures you use are made by this artist.
http://nanikasiratkool.web.fc2.com/index.html
Yes of course,
I had credit him, Also I had share a link to his page to let people know. It's written in the page game , the video ends and in the file Readme.txt
Ah ok! ;) Then no problem. The game you made is interesting BTW. Good use of those resources!
