After collecting all of them gems in the game and finishing it i feel as though i'm ready to give my review.
Gameplay: The black hole mechanic is very fun to mess around with and you have to learn how to use it properly if want to beat the game and even more so if you want to get all the gems. At first it seems a bit odd to get it to do what you wan't. But once you learn that each side will give you a guaranteed result it becomes a joy to experiment with. However I still have some complaints with the gameplay. One, the camera killed me a little too much then i would like, as sometimes as i was being thrown to my next black hole and lining up which side i wanted to hit, my mouse hand hand't been following my character thus the camera wasn't. Might i suggest i move camera function, something that you bind to a key. So when i hold shift or something then the camera moves and if it isn't held it follows my character. Two the black hole mechanic can be cheesed. Need more black holes just mash c! You should disable the reset when the character is in mid flight.
Graphics: I like the graphics, there weird and fun and the cat is chonk. Though the levels aren't heavily inspired the choice of color and tile set make the game stand out in a very good way.
Audio: The audio is also done very well, though i do have a complaint. Its not the fact that the music is composed poorly, its just the fact that it feels like it doesn't fit the mood. You want something to jaunt you along while exploring this odd world as this cute cat. It feels like the audio composition is good nothing special but the theme needs to be worked on here. Other then that the sound effects on the pottery, black hole and everything in between were good and felt liked they belonged.
Theme/conclusion: All and all the game was very fun i think you did a very good job. Everything comes together to give a great sense of originality, great themes and fun gameplay. Advice for future updates to this or next project, just think about the simple exploits and quality of life aspects. The camera mechanics need to be thought about more and the mechanics with the black should not be allowed to be cheesed.
yeah, after seeing my brother play i was pretty set on removing midair black holing, but then on the other hand i thought it was tricky enough to place them correctly while midair that it might make a cool speedrun sort of mechanic. After hearing your take though it does sound like the gameplay would be better off without it.
Thanks for playing!
I haven't had this much fun with physics in a long time! This felt like it came out of Garry's Mod. And it's awesome!
I spent quite some time exploring your mechanics of black holes and experimenting with chaining them. It was great. And seeing the cat spinning as it gets flinged is hilarious! Also I loved the assisting purpose of flower pots, very creative!
Overall, I loved this game and hope to see more in the future.
P. S. that menu / last level music is sick. :D
Had me stumped for a good bit, but once I got a handle on jumping into the holes it got easier and was a lot of fun flinging the cat around. +1million for the menu screen!
Really great puzzle-game! It took me a bit of time to fully understand the mechanic, but once I got it I felt invincible finding new ways to travel far and fast! It might need some checkpoints (dying is easy), and a way to clear some black holes. Overall, I had great fun playing this game!
This game was a lot of fun, a pretty solid concept. Trying to jump into the blackholes could be frustrating, depending on where you enter them it seems like it was a little chancey about which direction you'd be thrown. The player can solve this by placing one at ground level and walking into the bottom corner, but for some challenges the natural solution seemed to be to place a black hole a distance from the character and jump into it, which rapidly becomes tricky. Otherwise though, lots of fun!
Finally got it running. It's pretty fun and fits the theme well! I find it a little frustrating when you fail and get thrown back to the start of the level. More checkpoints can certainly help. I would also find a button to clear all the black holes quite useful.
The soundtrack is quite... impactive in terms of rhythm and harmony, by the way. The tracks are by no means bad, but I believe a cuter, less rebellious sound would go better with the visuals for me :P
Gave this one another go! I managed to finish two more levels. But got stuck yet again. Damn you far away gem! Is that the last level though? It took some practice but I really enjoyed the game before getting too frustrated again. ;)
I can't start this game on Linux. I got the following errors:
ERROR: load_interactive: Condition ' err != OK ' is true. returned: Ref<ResourceInteractiveLoader>()
At: scene/resources/resource_format_text.cpp:1226.
ERROR: _load: Method/Function Failed, returning: RES()

ERROR: SceneTree: Default Environment as specified in Project Settings (Rendering -> Environment -> Default Environment) could not be loaded.

When I published the first linux build, I tried to optimize the download by only loading necessary resources - but I screwed it up and the first stage wouldn't load. I've since replaced the binaries and pack file and they have run on my linux machine as well as others, and that error looks kinda like failed resource loading. If that doesn't work, can you tell me your Linux distro and version?
This is a really fun take on black holes, I don't care that it's not realistic because it's predictable. Makes for a more free-form puzzle game where the player can figure out their own solution. Definitely needs checkpoints after every challenge! It was so disappointing dying by accident... I'll give it another go if you add them, as it is I stopped at level 4
I really like the idea but the mechanic is a bit too unpredictable to be satisfying. I got stuck, or more rage quitted, on the second part of the level with the two black holes. :'(
Your menu is the best!!
I think I should've made a better tutorial so definitely ding me for that, but let me try to explain it to you and give it one more go:
You wrap around the black hole at 90 degrees. So if you drop down from the top left, you will shoot out at the bottom right. You shouldnt try to enter the black hole from the center if you want it to slingshot you predictably.
Took me a little while to crack the egg on this one, but once I did, it was absolutely brilliant! Chaining together black holes to reach higher and higher places is ridiculously fun.
Got an error on linux:
Error: Could not load game data at path '.'. Is the .pck file missing?
Although .pck file is there
