Really interesting take on the theme, good job !
There is something very satisfying about the idea of cutting the plant to control its growth! I think we lost that natural satisfaction with the control panel though. Awesome work!
Nice game! Wasn’t able to move the view, from the comments it seems to have been due to being on a trackpad. Nevertheless, great game!
Great game! :) I got a bit lost with how to tune the parameters, but it's a very intriguing concept, great job! :D
Great take on the theme! Lovely animation of growth and pruning. I would have preferred camera controls on keys, but many people interpreted the “One-hand” wild card like you did.
Nice game!
One note about controls, I am using a trackpad, so I don’t have a middle click to pan the camera around. There’s ways to emulate it, but not every trackpad user will be able to work around it.
Congrats on the submission! Good work!
Thanks a lot for the feedback.
I hadn't thought of that, I should have added the possibility of moving the camera with just the buttons, it would have been easier.
Good idea, fit really well with the theme
nice little game, very intuitive
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoy!
Very cool growing mechanics!! The sliders were a bit confusing for me and I wasn't sure what were the correct values to set, though I did enjoy cutting the branches!
Glad you enjoy it!
Indeed, the control over the root parameters could have been clearer with a tutorial.
Wow, this is a very interesting concept!
Being able to control how the roots grow with sliders was a great feature, too.
The slash SFX was a bit hard on the ears btw!
Thanks for your comment! Yeah I agree, the sound design is clearly messed up.
L O V E D I T. Great theme use, really fun to play :3
Thanks a lot for your comment!
Interesting idea. I want more control over how the root grows, it seems too random. Maybe I didn't mess with the settings enough. Also the cutting sound is pretty abrasive. Cool game!
Thanks for the feedback!
Sorry for your ears, I agree the sound design could have been much better, and the parameters are not clear enough to know exactly how it influences the root.
This is a super cool concept! Fantastic job
Thanks a lot for your comment! It makes me very happy
I like the idea, very in line with the theme. The cutting sound was a bit too loud on my system compared to the sound of the music. Otherwise, great job!
Thanks for playing my game!
Yeah I agree the sound design could have been much better.
Very nice idea.
Looks like I'm very bad at this, I didn't get past level 2.
Would deserve a nicer cutting sound. ;)
Thanks for the feedback! I think if I'd explained the gameplay better you could have gone further (and sorry for your ears).
Nice concept! It's great to be able to change growth parameters depending on the situation, but it's hard to predict what effect it will have. And I think a sliding camera would suit this game better than dragging. Also, stars for completing a level without a clear goal tied to them are pretty pointless for me.
Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree.
I should have added the amount of energy required for the stars in the victory menu.
Wow, I love how branches are growing, and music is so relaxing. Free level, where you can watch the root growing in it all glory, is a nice touch. Although, I am not skilled enough to go past level 2, and growth parameters are not intuitive. IMHO a different gameplay would fit more nicely, not as demanding as the current one. (Cutting sound makes my ears bleed >_<)
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not super convinced by the gameplay either, haha. I first created a system for growing roots, and then looked at how to make a game with that. Then, in the end, I added a level without an objective, because in the end I got more pleasure out of simply watching the branches grow in all directions. And sorry for your ears, the sound effects clearly need to be improved.
Super interesting idea! I wouldn’t call it relaxing ;). I felt like it was stressful trying to guide the branches to where they needed to go. The camera controls were a bit wonky so I just ended up zooming out till I could see the whole thing. I also think a little tutorial hand holding would have been nice with this. The first level almost could have been easier where you just try to get to a straight point and not have a barrier, but also it was cool to see it wrapping around.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, maybe it's not all that relaxing. It's hard to make a good camera, because if it grows in all directions, the camera won't know what to point at. But zooming out to see the whole level is a good solution. And I agree about the lack of tutorial, I didn't have time for that.
Really cool concept. I struggled a bit understanding exactly how changing each setting would effect the growth. I think a bit more tutorialisation of the mechanics would have helped.
thanks for the feedback.
I didn't have time to integrate an in-game tutorial. I've put some indications on the itch.io page, but in the end I think that might not be enough to understand it properly.
The music backgound was cool but the sfx are a bit loud
thanks for the feedback, it was the first music I've ever composed, so I'm glad you liked it. And yes, the sound effects aren't great, I admit, I didn't have time to find anything better.
