Hi, thanks for playing!
Normally, moving enemies can be killed using the compact formation, even with a large flock.
However, the larger your flock gets, the harder it becomes to maintain a V formation while dodging obstacles. This is intentional: the goal is to increase difficulty as you grow and to force players to balance between using a compact formation to avoid losing birds and a V formation to avoid losing energy.
It's really difficult not to lose any birds, but the goal is to keep as many as possible.
Thanks! Yeah I initially wanted to force the player to switch between the four formations, but it was already fun enough with the V formation and the compact formation, and I didn't have time to add constraints to force the use of the other two.
And I realized too late about the music as well, I'll fix that after the voting is over.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not super convinced by the gameplay either, haha. I first created a system for growing roots, and then looked at how to make a game with that. Then, in the end, I added a level without an objective, because in the end I got more pleasure out of simply watching the branches grow in all directions. And sorry for your ears, the sound effects clearly need to be improved.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, maybe it's not all that relaxing. It's hard to make a good camera, because if it grows in all directions, the camera won't know what to point at. But zooming out to see the whole level is a good solution. And I agree about the lack of tutorial, I didn't have time for that.
