I really like the idea and the "vibes". It reminds a bit of loop hero, but reversed. It would be cool to have a bit more variables and things to play with, but I know it's a jam entry :) Also it felt a bit slow, wish for some way of speeding things up (sadly we live in a dopamine dominated society).  Anyway,  main mechanic concept is solid material.

Nice game! I really like the concept. Good luck!

Developer

thanks! Appreciate the comment

What an incredibly fun concept. I think you may have benefitted from the ability to move monsters from one spot to another, even after they've already been placed in one spot.

Otherwise super fun idea. I hope you decide to expand upon this idea even after the jam. Would be delighted to see more monsters and "placeable" items on the map. Maybe even have a Party of Heroes where each hero is stronger / weaker against specific things (maybe you can even give Inventories for the heroes so the player has to plan around what items the Hero holds e.g. a lockpick would mean the Hero can go through one locked door). Just thoughts that came to mind while playing.

Super fun and original idea. Nicely done, and nicely executed. Absolutely loved the art-style and sound design.

Thanks for the kind words.

Good point about moving the monsters after they’ve been placed, something for the post jam version.

More items, monsters and levels is defo needed to make it more complete.

I did consider inventories and multiple heroes too but I really like the lockpick idea, that’s a good one!

Submitted

On second thought entire inventories might be a little too complex and add too many things to keep track of, but I think Hero-types might solve this! For example, a Warrior hero could be your standard fighter, whereas a Thief hero wouldn't be able to fight, but could pick through doors. Just something that came to mind.

Really enjoyed the concept, was not expecting a puzzle game. Was able to finish all the levels, so perphaps too easy, mostly lost because I misclicked

Adding undo would really make it better

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play and also the positive comments.

Lots of requests for an undo button , something I’ll add to the list.

Submitted

Really cool idea, would like to an undo button for mastakes instead of wating the entire run

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I did think about undo but then no one would ever see the hero death, which I thought was fun. A few people have said the same though!

I'm a happy DM now, fun game and fun idea. I like the puzzle mechanic, there's definitely room for more variation (outside the scope of the jam), with more mobs, maybe traps and such, and different type of heroes to submit to the power of the DM.

Developer

Thanks. Needs more variation to make it less predictable for sure, ran out of time in the jam. Maybe afterwards, maybe…

An interesting take on the theme and a reversal of roles. We're not the ones overloaded, but causing the overload. The initial levels are quite simple but effectively demonstrate the mechanics. Well-thought-out level design. I enjoyed playing it, the only thing I missed was the option to remove monsters from the map to place them elsewhere and slightly more challenging levels. Good job :)

Developer (1 edit)

I like a reversal idea, normally makes the game a bit different.

Agree it’s a bit easy and moving monsters / items around should be added.

good that you enjoyed playing my game though, nice to hear!

What a great concept and cool execution! Was a bit short - it was just starting to get interesting and devious 😈. Would love an option for restarting, though. This is really neat!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for comments!

Defo a bit short and could have gotten much more interesting and devious with more time on it.

Echo the comment to have a restart button, I held back originally as I thought people needed to see the hero win scenario

Submitted

Haha the ending screen was great! Glad I played through to the end.

Solid concept, nice graphics, interesting puzzle mechanics. A bit too easy once you figure out how it works though. I'd love to see this expanded with even more tools in the toolkit and tricky levels with multiple solutions to discover!

One thing that would have been nice to have in this version is ability to restart a level or take back a monster I placed in the wrong square. There was only one level I failed, but I realized my mistake right away, however I had to wait for the hero to survive all the way to the end to try again. Don't worry. I killed him the next time >:]

Nice job!  I enjoyed the experience!

Developer

I wasn’t expecting positive comments about that end screen, it was a last minute job :D

defo too easy and more monsters, items and levels needed!

needs a few UI tweaks such as undo, restart etc…

Great you enjoyed the experience!

Great art style. Love the color palette. Little bit easy, but well implemented.

Developer

Thanks! Needed more items to add complexity but ran outta time sadly

Interesting game, I like puzzle like games. It looks very well made, but a bit short

Developer

Thanks for playing it, it is a bit short but as a solo dev I ran out of time to add levels. It needs some additional items implementing too to make it a bit more complex and testing. I plan to add a few more items and levels post jam before moving onto something else.

Nice. Fun wholesome game. Who doesn't love shutting down wide-eyed players at the tabletop? Dominance games for teens with no physical abilities. Rocks Fall! You all diE!1

Seriously, as a puzzle game, it was a bit easy. The aesthetic was great though, especially for anyone who DM's or DM'd in the past.

Next jam, do the Paranoia TTRPG!

Developer

Thank you for the comments.

Agree it is too easy, I wanted to introduce more varied and complicated puzzles (which would require new objects/tools too), but I ran out of time.

Not played Paranoia TTRPG, will check it out!

:D - An epic end game screen right there!
