Damn, I definitely like this. It's fun. Especially the graphics are very nice. May I know how you made these graphics?
Thank you for playing! I am glad you liked the graphics! Sprites were made using Aseprite. Squash and stretch of the yarn ball was done using tweens in Godot. The outline around the sprites and particles is also done at runtime with a shader. The particles are just some simple doodles (also drawn in Aseprite) emitted by a CPUParticles2D node. I think that's pretty much it.
That is really neat that you got cheat codes in the game! I definitely appreciated the catnip. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if the actual game screen reflects the cheap code being type in and activated. The music was very upbeat but got a little too repetitive for me after a while. Really like the cat cutscene the first time the yarn ball snapped, almost wish there are more scenes like that when player does well in something, though maybe that would interrupt the actual game play too much. I agree with others that this is a very solid entry!
Thank you for playing! I had a lot of fun thinking about cheat codes for the game!
The cheat's name appears for a moment on the bottom right of the screen when it's first activated. The score display also changes to include a letter C and any activated cheat codes appear on the game over prompt.
I agree on the music. It's my first time actually trying to make music, so I feel I learned a lot, but I also think it could be improved.
More cutscenes could be interesting, but would need to be done in a way that doesn't interrupt gameplay too much. Probably a smaller image on a corner and making the cutscene transparent if the yarn ball approaches.
Thank you for the feedback!
OMG! Such a simple concept, but executed so well! Extremely satisfying to play! One of the best of the jam for sure! This could make a very addicting (possibly commercial) mobile game!
Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it! I do have some ideas on how to expand on it, but who knows!
Very addicting gameplay! Reminds me a lot of the warioware microgames lol... Keep it up!
Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it!
That was a lot of fun! The music and the gameplay drag you into playing and trying again and again. Maybe you could add an easy mode for beginners? Also, there could be some in-game bonuses that you receive upon completing a task. For example, an ability to slow down the time or place a board on the floor, that will catch the ball for you once. Yeah, there definitely are ways to develop the idea further. I am not sure, but what is the meaning of the three paw symbols in the top-left corner?
Thank you for playing!
I didn't really get enough time to add a tutorial, but there is a slow motion toggle by pressing space bar. The cat's eye at the bottom of the screen is a meter of how much "reflex time" you have left. It refills with time.
The symbols are the lives you have for the missions. If you aren't able to clear a mission in time (time left seen on the top right corner), you lose one. If you lose all three, you lose the game.
This contender is my pick for top prize. The control is simple, the goal is simple, but requires such concentration that every extra task starts to become a head splitter!
Assuming you've done a beautiful job at coding, it shouldn't even be that hard to expand and create new extra tasks!
You, sir, are a solo dev who put together what I would deem as the most enjoyable game in this jam, and you deserve to be elevated as such. Very Well Done, indeed.
Thank you for playing! I actually had planned many more tasks for the game, but didn't get enough time to develop them. The newspaper page on the floor was going to be a task where the player would have to shred it before time ran out. I couldn't finish the task's functionality to a point where it felt good in time, but I had already drawn the sprite, so I figured I would at least put it in the background somewhere.
Thank you for the kind words. It really means a lot to me.
definitely one of the best submissions i've played so far! super polished, really fun concept executed amazingly, really nice art style :) i could see this being a great touchscreen game as well. great job!
Thank you for playing! I'm glad the art has been received well, it's the first time I've done anything with this style.
I don't imagine it's exactly a world record but- 25k! Lol, was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. I struggled a bit at first but then I realized it's pretty much a cat-themed version of aimlabs lol. I didn't take the time to read the controls, but that time dilation would have been super helpful I bet. XD
Ah well, was fun. Clean, polished, and the controls worked great. Excellent entry. ^^
Thank you for playing! Yes reflex time does help a lot, I wish I had enough time to add a proper tutorial that explained it, but that's a jam! :)
Loved this so much! The music, the cat’s expressions, and the satisfaction of finally knocking the mug off the table. Brilliant.
Thank you for playing! I had a lot of fun experimenting with this art style!
This was really fun to play! Super polished, art looks great, and plays really well! Knocking the mug made me chuckle.
Thank you for playing! I drew the mug based on one I have on my desk. Its sound effects also were recorded using it!
This is the best game ever! Although it's too hard for me, i couldn't get past the first laser. Thank god there are cheats, lol
Thank you for playing! Hopefully using reflex time and maybe the cheats help :).
awesome, simple gameplay, but very polished!
Thank you for playing!
