Nice action there. Made it to level 7 then had to restart back to level 0... Why?
The art/music/controls are all great wish you hadn't reset and I would have continued but want to try others games too. Maybe I will come back
This kitty's got a nice move, a very satisfying dash/kick. Love your music and sound effects. I also really like the charming cartoon like style player/enemy/items art. But because of how good they look, I feel like the background tiles seem a little plain in comparison. The actual game is very fun to play, I sometimes wish the cat can just directly kick the trash can into a dog like a long distance attack. But the dash move of the cat is already quite powerful, so perhaps that is not needed for player who are good at getting up close and personal. Great game, I can see why a lot of people likes it!
you can kick the trashcans
This was FUN! I loved how you could dash up and down and bait the enemies to hit the trash can and dodge stuff at the last second. For a second I didn't understand why did you put in both dashes and normal movement but after a while I found myself dashing in and out of diagonals and readjusting on dashes to keep the stunlock up on walls and it's just so, so clean. Great job.
Really fun game. I like how it combines action combat with some strategy of how to approach each level. Simple controls and mechanics really shine here!
Music and art are really good, and the concept is pretty cool. The cat is really well done, with the animation and the sound effects, really satisfying.
In term of gameplay, the cat moves too slow. The trash cans aren't really lined up well for satisfying shots, the bazooka doing AoE and piercing trash is really punishing, and not being able to continue after losing kills the pacing. The enemies are also really tanky, they already don't move or attack after hitting them, so it's basically a more tedious one shot.
Overall it was fun and creative. Well done!
rockets dont pierce trashcans, also the cats movement speed doesnt need to be faster cuz it has a dash you can spam
Controls take a hit because certain gameplay elements are harder to understand than they should be.
Otherwise, it's competently made. Not much else to say about it.
Shoot higher, and come back in December!
what was hard to learn? the trashbags and trashcans seemed pretty intuitive
I was a bit confused why attacking trashbags hurts me as well. Graphics, controls and all that are very nice, but it got a bit too frustrating for me too quickly to want to keep playing.
Well done and executed. A bit too pinky for my eyes :)
Just a remark for the binding keys. You forget the azerty keyboard users.
there are key bindings in the game :)
I know :). But in godot, you can bind both keyboard type in your input map with one "selection". And so the player doesn't need to switch between qwerty or azerty. May be, this feature is only availaible in the version 4 of godot.
Isn't the cat's name John Wick by any chance? :D
Very good art direction however the gameplay was slightly lacking. I felt aiming the trashcans became too difficult and it was a lot easier to not worry about them and just attack the enemies.
Very nice art and music! Hitting the enemies feels so satisfying.
Hitting enemies with trashcans can sometimes be very hard. I think it would feel better for the player if the trashcan "finds" an enemy to hit in its flight direction, even if it meant it dealt less damage. If it doesn't go against your design, I think this would add to the feel of the game.
Well done, really enjoyed playing!
it would take away from the challenge of aiming the trashcans and sometimes you might not want to hit an enemy, also enemies can hit the trashcans at you
Love the artstyle- reminds me of the good ol' flash days! Simple and well executed game loop.
The animation here is magnificent, and the music and sound effects are on point, too! The controls feel a little stiff, but it's still good fun.
The attack and movement animations were so slick! I loved the design of the cat and the bazooka enemies, plus the DnB type music went hard. The debris doing damage was also a pleasant surprise. It would've been an unrealistic demand considering the time constraints, but a roll/dodge mechanic would've been bliss.
you dodge by attacking :)
Ah yes. I am a scrub.
Really fun combat and chain reactions
Amazing art style and nice controls. I love how fluid the animations feel.
It’s interesting that the enemies can also destroy obstacles, creating a strategic element to the game. Trying to manipulate them to clear the optimal path adds to the challenge. I just wish that losing all your health would restart only the current level, instead of sending you back to the first level again.
yeah, the game ended up being really difficult, i regret not changing the restart system
I really liked this. You inspired me to learn how to remap controls and make cool dashing particle effects!
This was a lot of fun. Took me a moment to realize that I could launch the garbage cans, that was a nice touch. I really like the art + music as well, it all fit together really nicely.
Great little game, quite challenging! Love the fact that you can fling trash cans at enemies. :)
Nice game you've made here! Had quite a bit of fun, especially after I figured out that you can launch bombs from trash cans. I also love the animations, they feel so juicy!
Here are a few things that came to mind while I was playing. I think it would have been nice to have more directional control over the attack, as in being able to do it in 8-way rather than just 4-way.
The hit-stop from attacking an enemy feels nice and impactful, but maybe it was just a tad bit too long. Since I have to attack the enemies so many times, that hit-stop starts to add up and starts making the game feel a little slow, in my opinion.
Also didn't know that the garbage bags were bombs initially, so I died on my first run not knowing how I died.
Anyways, well done on the game!
appreciate the detailed feedback!
thanks for the feedback, 4-way attacks were intentional however :)
