Cute concept but it needs to get to play quicker and it was super laggy so I couldn't even edit the die and really get into.  I think this one is a bit too big to play in browser.

Really great looking game and unique theme. Definitely had some good groans with all the names and the dice car too.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed all the references and puns!

Very interesting aesthetic and use of the theme! It would have been nice to have some hints on which emotions appeal to which characters since the player could only talk to them once. Regardless, the dialogue was fun and creative, nice work!

Developer

Yes, we should have written intros to suggest each npcs temperament before you question them. In the second 2 acts you can talk to everyone twice but accidentally only set it to once on the first round.

Pretty unique take - I liked the noir :D

I could have definitely done with the dice rolling animation / cut away being much, much, faster, though, as it really killed the pace.

Developer

Great feedback, didn't even think about this but you're right, needs a faster roll! Thanks!

Very different! Noir aesthetic is good! Although the dice side I'm not sure about I loved the game none the less.

Developer

Thank you! Yes the dice sides are hard to read, maybe numbers labeled on the side would've been clearer..

The dice mechanic seems a little forced/unnecessary but creative nonetheless. The atmosphere is great!

Developer

Thank you! Guess rpgs tend to just let you pick your options for a reason... Maybe we could have applied the dice on the npc side instead to make their mood more unpredictable?

Very unique take on the theme. I'm not convinced that the game wouldn't be better if there wasn't a dice mechanic, however. It seems to me that its better for the player to decide what approach they should take, rather than leaving it to chance - let the player deduce what is best in this detective game. Though you can already do that if you select the dice to be all one option so maybe not. Beautiful art and music.

Developer

Thanks! The hope was that you could manage your uncertainty by weighting your guesses on tone to go multiple ways, but it does feel odd not to have control of it like you might in other rpgs. I think we needed the option to ask multiple times in phase 1 to make this work better too.

Cool game! Really unique take on the theme! I can't believe all the art and music was also made in the 48 hrs.

There's some small issues, like the little symbols on the dice are a bit hard to see and sometimes I'm not sure what action the player actually took after the dice was rolled.

And sometimes the music gets a bit stuck, but my team also have the same problem and no idea how to fix it.

I think the dice mechanic makes this type of game more interesting, it isn't just clicking around you kind of have to take a chance because the player might not act the way you expect.

Good job!

Developer

I agree on the die size, might have favored the art framing more than the visibility to the detriment of being able to read it well. We could have also had a pop up indicating the result for more clarity, maybe with a question in the matching tone from Dean. Thank you!

This story was intriguing. I especially loved the replayability of this game!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you played it more than once and noticed how many options there were!

oO the whole rpg? wow

Developer

I've never written dialogue so fast! Glad you liked it!

Really enjoyed the artwork! you wouldnt say this was build in just 48 hours! amazing work! keep it up!

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! It was a busy 48 hours!

The setting, the music, the art style - fantastic. That being said, I didn't get very far before I had to stop playing. Any time the die is on screen, or as soon as I leave the office, the browser player slows down horribly. If it was just a visual problem, I could handle it but the music skips and breaks as the browser player struggles to keep up. I really wish there was an .exe download so I could play this thing in full because I really like the way this game's style and ideas but I just can't play it on browser as is.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Sorry about the performance issues, we should've included an exe! Once the jam judging is over we can add it for you!

That would be great! Thank you.
