Such a great idea for a game. I felt a bit slow at first, questioning my every move. I even bowed down on my bare feet to perform my regular shoe tie movement LOL.

These jams never fail to leave you absolutely mindblown by people's ideas and creativity.

Amazing job!

Developer

Thank you very much. We had a lot of fun making it.

Loved this game! I forgot how I tie my shoe midway through T-T losing muscle memory must be scary

Developer

You can check the explanation in the menu in between playing without losing your progress! :)

Thanks for your kind words!`

This idea is so cool! Considering that in real life, I tie my shoelaces purely by muscle memory, this is truly challenging for me.o(╥﹏╥)o
I really love this game—great game!d(゚∀゚d)

Developer(+1)

Thakns so much, it means a lot to us! :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, that's where the centipede's dilemma comes in lol. It's easy when you just do it, but if you have to think about what exactly you're doing, it becomes very difficult.

Submitted

This game needs a lot of patience! But very rewarding to get to grips with it, nice job!

Developer(+1)

It really does, yeah, thanks for the kind words! :)

Submitted

really good concept, little hard to play but once you got it it will be little easy, really nice idea, love it

Developer

Thanks! And don't forget to leave a good rating! :)

Submitted

managed to beat it by making knots within knots xD this is so fun! the rope is slippery but I guess it wouldnt be challenging otherwise. very nice game! good job!

Submitted

Wasn't expecting to get so caught up trying to finish this. Reminded me of QWOP!
Probably the most creative and literal interpretation of the theme, I like that a lot.

Submitted

Alright, it took me about an hour before I finally got the win!

The controls took a lot of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's really not that bad.

Overall very unique!

Submitted

it was so hard it became so fun lol, didn't made it but i did a pretty spiral :D

Great job!

Alright. I don't know how to tie shoelaces like in real life as well. and i do them wrong. this is way harder. i tried. but couldn't definitely my go to place to learn how to shoelace. Great game. I'm speechless. So don't think i am not saying much.

Developer

Follow the steps in the explanation to learn how to do it in real life too hahahaha

Thanks so much for playing

Submitted

thank you for teaching me how to tie laces. (my mom still is angry bout me for that. she'll get happy lol)

Submitted

How did you get the idea? and how did you implement all of this. is this open-source?

Developer

The rope physics are from Obi Rope, which is an asset we bought to work on this game. But all the other programming and the implementation and art and music was made by us!

Developer

I originally suggested this idea as a joke while I was tying my shoes, but we both couldn't get it out of our head.

Submitted

Wow thats hard, reminds me of old flash games like QWOP. Definitely one of the best takes on the jam theme ive seen so far, great job!

If you don't mind, please consider rating my game as well :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much, qwop was defninitely an inspiration for this one. I'm honoured you like it so much! and yeah ill check i tout

Submitted

the first tieing shoe game that I ever seen in this jam haha wonder how you manage it to fit with theme so cool.

If possible, can you please rate my game and leave a comment too.

Developer (1 edit)

Well it fits the theme only in the fact that to tie your shoe laces, you need to loop, swoop and pull! I know it doesn't have a time loop, or repeating mechanics, but it does have loops, and lots of them, you're gonna need them to win! :)

and sure I'll chekc it out

Submitted

Haha, as simple as tieing your shoe laces! Which I am STRUGGLING TO DO!

Simple concept and great execution, very QWOP and Surgeon Simulator feeling, I feel like the controls being limited to the keyboard is where it's quite difficult to get around, I got the hang of it but maybe it's the posistion of my keys, it's quite hard - I would of much preffered the numpad at least if that was an option.

Awesome art, funky music background and on point with the themeing, a superb submission well done!

Developer

You can remap your keys so the numpad is possible! Just click on them

Submitted

AHHHHH! Okay THAT's much better.

Thank you! <3

Submitted

Simply hilarious concept, reminds me of Hand Simulator, I thought it would be a nightmare to play at first with these controls but seeing how it was actually playable was really fun!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah we get that a lot, but the controls could definitely be improved!

Submitted

Very fun game! At first I was thinking "How hard can it be", (spoilers: yes.) Also really nice way of interpreting the theme!

Developer

Thank you! And don't forget to give us a good rating ^^

Submitted

Very interesting game! The controls are a bit intimidating, and I had to restart a few times in order to take a look at them. Cool idea though. Great work.

Developer(+1)

You can see the controls without restarting by pressing escape or clicking the Pause button! Maybe I should have made that more clear, my bad!

Thank you for playing! Hope you managed to tie your shoe!

Submitted

Original take on the theme! I love games that feel super analogic where every single movement needs a button and real movement. This was a blast and I'm amazed by the level of polish on the movement in so little time to develop. Great job!

Developer

thanks so much! did you also manage to tie your shoes succesfully?

Submitted

Super funny twist on the theme! We had a similar idea in our brainstorming but didn't manage to make it work. Glad you made it! It is painful to play but I think that is exactly the point!

I think I agree with one of the other comments on the page, having the same set of commands and having the possibility to switch hand will improve the usability a lot. I also think I had some problems with keyboard layout because some letters on my keyboard didn't match the letters in the settings (minor issue because I tried to re-assign it and got the same letter so I understood that was just a layout issue)

Submitted

Wonderful interpretation of the theme! The physic works perfectly and the controls are strange, just like when someone doesn't remember how to use his hands XD Great job! I had lot of fun playing ur game :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Did you manage to win?

Submitted (1 edit)

No, the right hand is so hard to manage ;(

Developer

You can remap the controls if it's not nice for you

Submitted

I didn't see that! Thank u :)

Submitted

Very creative concept! It reminds me of games like QWOP or that vr russian roulette game with manual hand controls. This was the best knot I could tie. Look, there's a loop in it!

I really like that you can change the key binds, though I couldn't set one of the left hand fingers. The music is great, also the SFX.

One thing I would change is to have WASD+QE and JKL; as the controls for one hand, then have a key like SHIFT to switch hands.  That way I wouldn't have to develop muscle memory for so many different keys. Realistically I would never be able to control both hands at the same time anyways. I also wish the camera could orbit around the shoe and zoom in and out with mouse controls.

Developer

That's a really great idea about switching hand! Wish we thought of that! And yeah the camera was a struggle, we thought about doing that but I didn't find a good way so we settled for static views. But if we develop it further we will definitely do that!

Anyway thanks so much!

Developer

Thanks for the compliments on the audio. I had a lot of fun making the music and sound effects.
