Dang this is fun! I especially like how if you get stuck, a meteor comes and bounces you back on track! Great game :D
Loved the gameplay, took some time to get my hands on. I did some chaining later on, I was so impressed with myself. Great game loved it
Really impressive work. Once I got the hang of the physics, chaining orbits became super satisfying. The atmosphere is great. the core idea is solid, good job!
This game was really hard to figure out, but super satisfying when I did. It's really tough, but once I realized bouncing off planets once didn't break your combo I got way better at the game. I had a really cool moment orbiting a star. I thought maybe I could get out and it was super thrilling! The banger music toggle also made me laugh and get turned on instantly.
It's pretty tough to chart your course however. I actually never made it back to a space station to try the upgrades no matter how hard I tried, gravity pulled me off course.
Awesome job!
yeah, getting to the stations is harder than we intended it to be. The best way to get to one is to land yourself on a planet on the side that faces the station, and then launch straight off the planet with two boosts. When you launch straight off of the planet the gravity doesn't effect the direction of your launch as much, whereas when you launch off sideways the gravity will turn you before you leave the atmosphere. We noticed this early in development, and had plans to add an angry birds style trajectory line, but we all got used to just launching straight off and didn't realize how important it would be to communicate how the gravity will affect your launch.
Love the concept! Really good use of the theme!
It was a bit hard to play at first but then I discovered you can zoom out and see the planets, oops!
I also think that once you have looped around a planet it shouldn't reward any more points, to encourage the player to explore!
Nice job overall!
NB: The banger music should be the music by default 🤘
rewarding more points for every loop was something we repeatedly addressed. We settled on each planet gives you five points the first time you loop it, and one point for every other time, So lighting up multiple planets is more profitable, but maybe we should have done a better job communicating this.
The banger music was off by default because we weren't sure weather it fit the vibe of the game as much, and also it doesn't loop seamlessly. In the future I plan to add adaptive music that'll get more intense as your combo gets higher.
Had a hard time getting started but it was heaps fun once I got the hang of it. Great aesthetic overall, too.
This concept was really fun, quite tricky to get the hang of but very enjoyable. Would love for you to play and rate our game, let us know what you think :)
The tutorial at the start seems to go away so quickly but once you get the hang of it's very fun to play. It'd be nice to have a reference point on the minimap to know where you are, I struggled to navigate around with it. But honestly, it was a fun game regardless and has good visuals too.
That seems to be a common feedback point; the tutorial going away too fast. We'll look into that for sure.
The minimap is always centered on the player. Everything is relative to your current location. A simple dot in the middle would've fixed this :skull-emoji:
Thanks for playing!
it was hard to get what it was about at first. but i got it finally. i love the art and atmospheric music. we both made games about orbits and slingshots, but results are so much different. good luck
Very chill game. Kudos for using Godot and making it work on mobile. The only thing I'll say is make the centre of the drag position be where you initially tap the screen instead of centering around the ship.
so difficult to play but very fun . good concept
had to restart a few times to read the instructions but reaslly neat game. difficult but very fun!
I found this game to be quite addictive once I sort of got the hang of the controls. Chaining orbits is very satisfying, I often found myself getting flung into space and restarting too often (maybe I should have used the minimap more but I found it a bit un-intuitive). Really nice job and would not be surprised if this gets featured on GMTK.
So glad I turned on "Banger music" in the settings. This would make for a really fun mobile game to play during daily commutes. Is deceptively challenging but making an orbit is so fun
There is a deceptive amount of skill to this game and I really dig that. The core loop is great - the only criticism I have is I wish the game had some sort of forgiveness mechanic instead of ending your run if you accidentally fling yourself into the void or into the sun.
There is, actually! At least for flinging yourself into space. If you’re stopped without boosts there’s a “Softlock Prevention Asteroid,” so if you’re stopped spend find yourself in the middle of nowhere, spend your boosts and brake. Glad you like the game!
Can’t help you if you’re headed to the sun though. There’s a chance the asteroid pushes you in.
I'm pretty sure this is how nasa controlled the voyager probes.
Really addictive game once I got the hang of it. But the UI feels a bit cluttered, and I'm still not entirely sure what everything does. That didn't get in the way of me enjoying this game though, the fundamental design is really solid.
Glad you had fun! We had troubles putting together the UI. Super excited to learn how to do it better!
The game mechanics are really great, it's not easy to play but a really good start!
Thanks! Looking forward to fleshing it out more
I really enjoyed the art and music, but found the controls a bit difficult. I clicked to have the tutorial play again so I could review the controls a second time, but they never showed up again. Overall, outside of my issues with the controls, it was a really impressive submission.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, right now you'd have to restart the page to refresh the tutorial.
Nice job! This game looks very professional! Can't believe you made it in such a short amount of time.
Thank you! We worked very hard
