I really liked the vibe of this game and the strategy! Probably the most well done, I just wish I could tell apart my creatures especially with the spawners. Otherwise, great job! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in <3 vod Day 4 @ 5:40:26

Developer

Ah you got to us! Thanks for playing, you really did go through your entire queue haha

I liked the visuals and overall atmosphere. The main thing I missed was a way to distinguish between different types of creatures, especially when I had to drop some of them. I found a number of stats a little overwhelming for real time and also didn't really see the need to mix body values in a different way than just maxing the most relevant ones.

Developer

I think by the end, maxing the most relevant ones + brain is pretty viable. But it's very difficult to make a game like this challenging & easy to understand, if the stat requirements for things were tighter, the game might be a bit too confusing/difficult for a jam entry.

Glad you enjoyed though!

Really cool game - I would like to edit what my critters looked like as it was hard to remember which ones I wanted to delete

I would have liked an evolve button to edit them instead of needing to delete and remake.

The simple behaviour programming was fun as was designing the critters - I would like to see this expanded (perhaps the critters stats are not controlled by the player but rather influenced (food, behaviour, previous generation experience)

The art was great and very unique, really loved the loot - reminded me of cult of the lamb a little.

Was really fun - Good job ❤️

Developer

ooo an evolve button is an interesting idea! thanks for that :)

Glad you enjoyed!

Interesting idea, I was a bit overwhelmed by the creation process to be honest. The intro and art add a lot to the game though :)

The most creative game I've seen in the jam so far, I really loved the art and more than that the creativity behind this game was just mind blowing, I would love to see this game in top 100.

Best of luck :D

Also,  I invite you to play my silly python game as well, it will be a pleasure for me.

Thank you for the lovely comment and thank you for playing!

It's impressive that you created this in just a few days. The title graphic is excellent, and the opening cutscene was very well done. However, it might help to make each critter version more distinct, as they can be difficult to differentiate when swarming. The critter builder is well-designed and easy to use. I couldn't help but watch all those minions working for Mother. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Yes a way to easily tell what each minion is is in the post-jam to-do for sure :) Glad you had fun!

I'm impressed that you created this in just a couple of days. The title graphic is great and the opening cut scene was top-notch. I feel you could have made each version of critter a bit more distinct (hard to tell apart when swarming) but the critter builder is well-made and intuitive. I just kept staring all those minions work for Mother. lol

Thank you Yoneda, happy to hear that you've enjoyed the game!

I also like so much the intro, make me thing of super Mario galaxy! Hope to see you in GMTK 2025!

Thank you for your feedback soytak111, hope to see you on GMTK 2025!

OMG I love the intro.
The game is stunning, I like the general idea of this game and I think this has so much potential ,this reminds me of starcraft and one of the main reasons why I played it. one feedback though is I wish I could hover over my critters and see their stats so I know what to remove and keep, nevertheless I really like the game, this is brilliant!!

Really fun gameplay! I like how custumisable the critters are and how i can choose what behaviour they have :) really fun game!

Stunning art! The music is really cool, I could just sit and listen to it all day. The gameplay is simple, but fun. I found it hard to keep track of what each critter does. Changing their shape based on their stats is a clever idea, but maybe letting the player choose the color or naming them would work even better. Great game, had a lot of fun playing! :D

@moustronaut worked hard on the music, you can actually do that! here is the link :

I really like the behavior designing aspect. Makes me feel like I'm programming their little minds. Really cool!

It would be awesome if you could rate my game too!

It is very satisfying to see the critters move around! Having a tutorial might help with the progression of the core mechanics. it might be hard for others though it was fine for me

Such a fun concept and game! I loved that you could change and decide on multiple things about the children. The music was cool, the graphics were great and the concept was brilliant. My one and only note would be to make somewhere we can turn the volume down

Developer

Thanks for playing! Options menu will be in the post-jam build for sure :)

Fantastic entry! Would love the see this idea fully explored, lots of potential.

Great fun ! The mind design reminds me of the old gambit system in FFXII which I loved :) Game is a little overwhelming at first, you don't really have time to study where to give points, I ended up haphazardly putting muscles into things that I wanted to find and skin in the others, also it's not immediately obvious that the more points you put in a creature the longer it will take to build, more points feels like a reward at first but you can't always put in all the points available. The stat system may be a overly complicated for the purpose of the game All in all it's a pretty nice, creative game with great art, congrats !

Developer(+2)

oh man you're the FIRST person to mention the system I based it on! Yes, the system is too complex for the time you get at the start. I had a vision for the game applying pressure at the start, but ultimately that was the wrong I think. In v2.0 which will be live post jam there is a menu pause and enemies don't spawn until you have at least one critter.

Thanks for playing, the FFXII callout has made my weekend haha

This is done really well !

Developer

Thanks for playing! There is an ending, if you encounter a bug where you can't complete a run, you can always watch a full playthrough here

Super fucking cool game lots of fun my only feedback is that it could use some balancing it was too easy for my tastes.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Difficulty got scaled back a lot towards then end, with more reliable combat, I can bump up that difficulty again :)
