Shadow Wizard Money Gang 🧙‍♂️

Nice puzzles, I like the rune mechanic and props for the cool torch effect :D

The movement was a bit wonky at times:

  • Landing on the ground after jumping would sometimes make the player stuck (wiggling around or jumping usually fixed it)
  • When the player’s “shrink” spell runs out and he’s enlarged to the original size, the player would sometimes get a part of him stuck underground (this actually killed me once, even tho I was in an open space)
  • The windows render on top of the platforms (see uploaded image)

Wizard Tribe!

Thanks a ton for playing the game—I’m so glad you enjoyed the runes and torches! :3 The bug list is definitely growing, and while we were already aware of a few of these, it’s super helpful to see what’s affecting everyone the most. The invisible obstacles/colliders are a big one, and that weird shrinking issue is definitely on the radar too. I’ll tackle these after the jam, even if it means tearing the level apart and reassessing from scratch, haha.

And those windows! I swear I double-checked each one, but clearly, some sneaky ones slipped through! XD

Thanks so much for the bug report—it really helps a lot!

A great concept that was well executed, good work on this entry! The levels were fun and well designed. I loved the visuals, notably the tileset and the windows which were my two favorite assets. The player character was also well designed, though one thing I could point out is that player animations would really elevate the game feel. Overall a very nice job on this puzzle platformer!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing we really appreciate the feedback :) That's such a good suggestion, once I find the source of the invisible obstacles I will work on making a more energetic character with animations to elevate the experience :D

Sounds like a solid plan to make this great game even better. Keep up the amazing work!

Great idea using a wizard and their magic to interact with the environment—fantastic puzzle design! The level difficulty progression is excellent; at the beginning, each ability comes with instructions so players don’t get lost, and then the difficulty increases gradually. The lighting effects you used with Unity look beautiful in the environment. Congratulations!

Developer(+1)

Thank you :D I'm glad you enjoyed playing! :)

Good graphics, I liked that there were so many very original mechanics. Great game!

Developer

Thank you for playing :D I'm glad you enjoyed the variety of mechanics :)

Great concept. I enjoyed the progression of difficulty. I got stuck when the wizard needs to be small on an invisible wall a few times. It's the level where you are only allowed to use the 4th magic spell and need to be fast. Fun game though.

Developer

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! It seems there are a few invisible obstacles in the game that I haven't quite tracked down yet. For that particular one, you can get past it by jumping a bit—it’s not the only one, unfortunately, as the game does have a few bugs scattered throughout. I really appreciate your bug report, and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the game despite the occasional glitch!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks! I got farther into the game. Good job.

I think there are some collision problem, fell through the floor at the exit at times, and others I got blocks by an invisible wall at the exit unless I jump,, otherwise great job! Love the wizard theme!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

1000% there is some collision problems haha I am still trying to locate the source of these mystery invisible obstacles :D It's under investigation ;) , thank you so much for taking the time to play and give some feedback :) I'm glad you love wizards :D

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting concept although I find puzzles a bit easy.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing :) I think they are easy because I give too many options to pass, for sure I will be making restrictions on future trials :) Appreciate the feedback!

A wonderfully well balanced game with clever use of the theme. Great work.

Developer

Thank you for playing :D

Very atmosphereic style! the gameplay is very clever too! Did come across some minor bugs which I see are already aware of; would love to see this further developed. Nice job on what you've accomplished in the time given!!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game :D We are definitely aware of the bugs, the list has become a little longer than we initially thought so there is a lot to fix :) I'm glad you enjoyed the game regardless :)

Beautiful art style and very competent implementation of 4 different scaling mechanics! Theres a lot in this game for the short development time. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you for playing :D we appreciate the positive feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

A fun game. I liked the puzzles and that some even allowed for multiple possible solutions
(although I'm not sure if that was always intentional).
There were a few minor bugs that you explained in the description, but they were far away from making the game unplayable. Good work!

Developer

Thank you for playing :) It was definitely my intention for the player to solve the problem in whatever way they liked and offered a couple options to get past :D For sure there are bugs but I'm glad it didn't ruin your experience! The feedback is greatly appreciated :)

Submitted(+1)

Interesting submission! I liked how all of the runes scaled size in a different way, and were often used concurrently to solve puzzles. Only real complaint is I feel like the "shrink self" rune should be an arrow facing down instead of up, Semiotically it makes more sense. Take me to the wizards that created rune magic if you need to i'll die on this hill. Nice work getting this over the line in time!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback :) I'm glad you liked the rune magic, the shrink self rune was supposed to be like a simplified wizard hat for self, as self is wizard haha, but the arrow down would have been clearer, the bus to the rune wizards is departing shortly, I will bring them the news :) Really appreciate you taking the time to play :)

Submitted(+1)

Pretty good! As others have said, if you polish this game a bit more it could turn out to be a very good experience :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the nice feedback :) It definitely needs some work I would like to make it better :)

Submitted(+1)

Really like the concept of the runes, it's a shame that i got stuck in the shrinking level, where you have to go under the wall, I kept getting stucked in the middle of the section. A shame because I really liked the concept, with a little bit more polish it could really rock!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed the concept but I'm sorry you had that experience :( The invisible obstacles and the shrinking problem are known bugs and we are working to make them foolproof, we really appreciate you trying the game out and giving us feedback :) Thanks!

Some interesting magic mechanics and good puzzle-platformer level design! I would recommend working on the feel of the platforming a little more: making the jump a little less floaty and adding quality of life features like coyote-time and jump-buffering. But with a bit more polish, this can turn out great! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback, it's very much appreciated :) That sounds like a good place to start, I don't know what coyote time is I'll look into it :) With this I will make a better player, definitely needs some spit and polish,  thanks again :)

well-designed levels!

a couple of stuff:

- someplace have invisible collisions that stop me from moving forward

- platforms don't move players from left to right (I  know it's hard; I tried before )

- walls can be used for unlimited jumps

great job nonetheless!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you :) The invisible collisions are a mystery to me, I'm considering pulling out the entire map and making it from scratch at this point there is definitely something wonky going on haha, the platforms we didn't notice didn't have this problem until we released then we were like ooo yeah the player should move with platform, oops :') Both these things we are going to work on to make a better game :D Thanks for the feeback!

Submitted(+1)

Really well put together, well designed and fun to played, impressive you managed to squeeze so many levels into the game, though a shame the collision is a bit wonky at times, the small rune especially as it makes you fall through the ground. But overall great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah there are some bugs for sure haha, I'm glad you managed to enjoy it regardless :) I am investigating the player and collision in particular as that seems to be breaking the game the most and I hope to make a cleaner version! I appreciate the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, I liked the concept. well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing I am glad you liked it :)

Submitted(+1)

It’s impressive how you managed to incorporate so many different mechanics! Despite that, the difficulty scales correctly without ever becoming frustrating or overwhelming.

I do have one small piece of feedback: instead of using "real" runes, you could create unique rune designs that better suggests their effect. I often picked the wrong rune because I couldn’t remember which one I needed 😅

But overall, fantastic work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing :) I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanics, the runes aren't real I did make them up but in the style of real runes. It may not have translated as well as I thought but I was thinking arrow up for growth, down for shrink, the third one is supposed to be a claw for creature and the triangle represents the player because you are a wizard :D I understand explaining it doesn't hide the fact it didn't work haha, I will consider making it more clear for players :) Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the graphics and music. The game looks really good. I like that you had cooldown meters for the spells so the player knows how long they have. There were a couple frustrating parts where the character got stuck or the hitbox hit something I thought I could clear, but otherwise a solid game with interesting puzzles, nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I am happy you liked it :) The invisible obstacles are frustrating for sure, I am still trying to figure out what happened with that haha, I think it's something to do with ground planes attached to the player but I'm not sure, definitely going to fix it though :) I appreciate you giving feedback :)
