This was brutal, but rewarding! Got to the middle of leaderboard, still very happy :)

Very good level design, allowing fast but risky paths for those who dare. Had a lot of fun!

Developer

Alternate paths are super fun to take

I couldn’t finish the boss but I sure had fun trying it!!

Great job for this incredible entry!!

That certainly was a game and a half… good job, guys! :D

First suggestion that came to my mind after getting a feel for the controls was for a speedrun timer, but ya’ll certainly know what you’re doing :D

Only real tiny nitpick I can give is to maybe shorten the respawn time.

This has got to be the most polished game ive seen so far :D And fun levels too! I love that you put volume sliders in and that the default sound didnt explode my ear drums like in so many game =)

Top tier game in my opinion!

Really cool game, everything feels super polished and satisfying, just a few notes on the gameplay. Namely, the hook's vertical hitbox should be just a bit taller, as there's been plenty of times where it visually hit something but then I fell down to the ground awkwardly after, and it should also spawn a bit closer to the inside of the robot. Also, it would be nice to have a visual indicator for when you can grapple (the robots light's turning on when they have it and off when they don't would be a nice touch!) Overall though, super fun platformer, feels really great, could absolutely be an awesome full game if you wanna work further on it!

thanks for the super kind words and detailed feedback!

completely agree with everything you said.

something that we thought about only later was to have a system to highlight the target that you would hook onto if you fire the hookshot at any given moment - that would completely remove all ambiguity (yes, on top of potentially also tweaking the hitboxes a bit more).

Thanks for participating in the stream, here's the VOD clip:

Developer

thanks for having me, it was a pleasure to talk about our little game and the feedback you gave (better communication, considering different strategies for hitboxes, jump or no jump questions, ideas to fix the broken cycles) was spot on

I must preface this comment by saying that this is not my style of game, I'm pretty bad at such platformers, but I saw this on stream and had to try it for myself.
...It went as expected, I absolutely sucked at it :D
But even then, the idea, the execution, the overall great polish is top notch. In a context of a jam game there is really nothing that I could say is bad.
I know I will just say the same thing as Gabriel said on stream, but I also found myself trying to jump before doing a hookshot, and failed because there is no jump, only hookshot. This might be the biggest issue of the game for me and to be honest... it is not that big of an issue anyway.
Lovely palette, crispy controls, fitting music.
Sorry there will not be much of a valuable feedback from me, I just enjoyed the game despite it being in a genre that I don't touch outside of a jam. There is not much to add it is simply a very well made game.
Congratulations, Cheers and Good luck :)

Developer

super kind words, thank you so much for enduring despite not being your style of game.

Easy to learn hard to master. Very frustraing but also very addictive I can't stop playing it please send help. Great work

What do you mean someone beat the game in less than 90 seconds?! It took me roughly 15 minutes. It was quite frustrating sometimes but I had a lot of fun with this one. Really well done!

Developer

turns out some speedrun minded people are CRAZY, they are more than 1 minute faster than our own developer best times

Really pretty, really cool concept (it's funny how we both though about "robot with a grappling hook" and then went on totally different directions), a tad too difficult for me. For some reason I couldn't grapple the finish line of the first level and had top try a lot until it worked, and I don't know what I did differently... I even went to read the comments to see if anybody had the same problem.

That said, it's one of the most polished and well executed game I've seen as of now, good job!

Perfect jam game for me. Simple, extremely well executed, short yet enough different ideas in it!

Also super polished with a nice little leaderboard to push competitive players like me to try again. Well done I really enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it, thanks!

The game looks great and is really fun to play. The only downside is that it leaves very little room for error. Falling to the bottom every time you make a mistake is really frustrating and leaves no space for you to find a last second solution.

Except for that, everything is cool. Good job !

Stylish game with big speedrunner appeal! My only real criticisms are that some of the hookshot targets are not super obvious (e.g. I thought I could grapple the blocks at the ends of platforms) and the fallspeed is too fast to ever recover if you miss a grapple (but maybe that’s intentional).

Really loved the music too!

Submitted(+1)

It's really cool idea, I really liked it!

Submitted(+2)

Difficult game but fun! the music was really cool too

Submitted(+2)

i like the movements even if its a bit difficult and the visuals along with the music are very well done!

Submitted(+2)

So polished and beautiful, I can't believe you made this in 4 days. Gameplay was really challenging. Great job.

Submitted(+2)

Visually very pleasing. The gameplay is super fun but a bit difficult and sometimes quite punishing. However, the speedrun component makes me want to quickly retry my actions a lot. Good Job!

Fun Platformer, beautiful art, good challenging levels and great replayability with the leaderboards.

Would really appreciate if you rated our game

Fun platforming game! Managed to get 7th on the leaderboard and decided to call it there; major props to whoever can do this in under 2 minutes, wow!
