How does your game fit the theme?
The more Jumbo your Pumbo gets, the bigger the threats. Also, you must literally build platforms to scale the gourd.

Really good gameplay loop!
Thank you!
Got hooked on this and couldn't stop playing until I had upgraded everything to max. Good game! :D
Thank you! Glad you liked the upgrades!
Few moar seasons and this pumbo's be having it's own moons and all this gravity business!
Liked the game very much, nice work!
Not bad, not bad! We actually thought about making it possible to have the pumbo break through the atmosphere if it got big enough, but we didn’t quite get there in the time of the jam.
Glad you liked the game!
this is cute! i'm probably not in the demographic for cookie clicker-type grind games with no fail state, but i had a good time nonetheless. i liked the multitasking and placing platforms on the pumpkin, and it's cute how gently the animals get shooed away, and the stream of tears as they run away!
to me the biggest issue was that the game's difficulty doesn't scale with the upgrades, so to me it felt like the game quickly got less engaging as maintaining the pumpkin became a breeze. again i'm not in the target audience so it might not actually be a problem!
i thought the player animations and especially the pumpkin (was it vector art? 3D? just a huge sprite?) looked great, especially with the rasterization to keep the pixel sizes consistent.
Funny you should say that, a few members of the team are also not in the cookie clicker-type game enjoyer demographic! The platforming and other active gameplay was in part added so that we would also enjoy the game, and everything came together super well!
Regarding the difficulty scaling, we made some tweaks towards the end of the jam to improve it, but there’s definitely still some refining to do. I will say, however, that if your pumpkin hits 300m there is still plenty to deal with even with all upgrades purchased (but yeah, nothing really to work towards at that point, hopefully we will get a chance to return to the game and add more upgrades/features).
We’re super proud of how the pumpkin ended up looking. It is in fact a 3D model, rasterized to 2D and made to look like pixel art using a SubViewPort and shaders. Glad you liked the effect!
Very nice game! Really liked the gameplay loop and how well the art, sfx and music fit with each other. Well done!
Thank you!
Simple game, but honestly very addicting. Congrats on making mechanics that work very well together!
The controls are a bit awkward, but that's main only real constructive feedback. Great game!
Thank you! Yeah, the controls have given a few people trouble. We iterated a few times but decided that was the best we could do with the functions we needed to support. Definitely open to suggestions if you have any, but we will continue to refine it when we can find the time!
Kind of insane game regarding the content ! Very sweet to look at, kind of stressful to play lol. I struggled a bit with the controls at first;
- a little key above each interactive items when they can be interact with would have been cool to learn easily the game
- same can be said for the platform placing, i would have put a little L key next to the icon on the screen !
Overall, i had a lot of fun ! Congrats
Great suggestions regarding pop-up key hints! We actually thought about doing that but ran out of time to code the logic for that. In general, some in-game tutorializing would have probably helped people play.
Glad you liked it otherwise!
This is a really awesome game! Super cozy, all the art looks really good, the movement feels nice, and the platforms aren't as annoying as I thought they would be to place (if that makes sense). Controls were slightly confusing at first but good when you get the hang of it.
Thanks so much! I totally know what you mean about the platforms. We intended mid-air placement to be possible (and in fact is the only way you can place them), were worried it would be super annoying, and were pleased when it was actually pretty okay!
This is really cute. The art is amazing and the whole thing is quite polished. The damn birds wont stay off my pumbo! (ง •̀_•́)ง
Thank you! Yeah, the birds can be a real problem!
I really enjoyed it! Even though I didn't think gardening could be so stressful.
I really enjoyed it! Even though I didn't think gardening could be so stressful.
Thank you! Haha, yeah, it can get a bit intense!
I love the look of this one. The controls seemed too finicky to be able to play-- I wasn't able to pick up the fertilizer for the life of me, and I kept not pulling up weeds even though I was right on top of them. This game has really great potential though and I'd love to try an improved version!
You can’t pick up the composter bucket, just interact with it when you have collected weeds. Then it will process the weeds and spit out the red fertilizer packets that can be picked up and applied to the pumpkin.
I think the other issue you might be having is that you can only interact with things (shoo pests, pull weeds, dump collected weeds into composter) while you are not holding an item, so try dropping the watering can first (Z or J) and then interacting (X or K).
Hope that helps! Please let me know if you’re still having trouble. The interaction targets are pretty large, so I’m hoping the issue was just the empty hand requirement.
This absolutely rules. I love the incremental-game-style upgrade progression and the active gameplay of maintaining my glorious pumbo and scaring off the birds. Also the art is lovely - the pumbo itself makes me think of PS1-era prerendered scaled sprites like in Tomba, Klonoa, and so on. Absolutely great!
Thank you!
This is beautiful and so well polished!! Excellent job! What a fun game!
Thank you, so glad you had fun playing!
It was hard to pull myself away from this game. Every round, I kept thinking "surely, the pumbo can't get much bigger...", and then it got bigger. Fits the theme perfectly, and great art. 5/5/5
Yess, that's exactly the experience we were hoping to invoke! Thank you :)
Very fun and cute. Everything comes together really well. Amazing work.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
I love how you integrated 2D and 3D so seamlessly! The gameplay itself is great too, although it took a bit before I figured out how to get rid of weeds and birds since I had the watering can in my hands the whole time. Once I got that though, I had an absolute blast! Well done!
Thank you! Yeah, we probably could have better communicated that non-item actions can only be done with an empty hand, but we ran out of time to do any tutorializing beyond the “how to play” screen.
the art is really charming and the gameplay loop feels great! reminds me of flash games i used to play. i love how platforms are a limited resource and you end up having to divide your time between watering, weeding, fertilizing, and shooing pests. felt like there was always something to do
Thanks! That was the goal! We wanted to add enough mechanics that you need to be constantly moving, and glad to hear we accomplished that!
I enjoyed this thoroughly even if it's not my typical type of game. For w/e reason I couldn't use the platforms or pick up the other bucket (fertilizer?) I could only pick up the watering can and shoo things/dig out weeds. I tried both button options. I would've liked more distinct music and more sound fx for the birds, pumpkin growing, etc but what was in there was pleasant. Good idea for this jam.
Thanks!
Hmm, so the composter (the bucket you mentioned) can’t be picked up, only interacted with. When you pull up a weed it gets added to the resource tracked in the top right corner, and then interacting with a composter will process those and turn them into fertilizer items, which can then be picked up and activated on the pumpkin.
As for the platforms, you can only place them on the pumpkin, and only above ground level. When the pumpkin is bigger, try jumping and then pressing “C” (or “L”).
I just played again with those suggestions, everything works as you said. I guess it wasn't clear that you needed to jump to be able to place the platforms. There's a lot more to appreciate on a replay, all the choices in the shop felt pretty impactful and the progression was fair. Only real gripe is there's a good period of just watering at the beginning and watering in general feels like you should be able to fill the meter, run around and do more interesting stuff, then come back.
Glad it all works now! Yeah, that’s a very reasonable gripe, and one we would like to address in the future. Once you get the watering upgrades it becomes easier to keep the meter topped up, but even then it is true that there is some downtime at the beginning before the first weed spawns. Things to hopefully improve in the future!
This was great! Loved how the distance between platforms grows with the pumbo forcing you to always have to consider where to use that resource sparingly, fun take on the theme!
Thank you! Yeah, the platforms being rooted to a spot on the pumpkin rather than in space is something we are quite proud of, it definitely makes platform placement more interesting.
