Great idea! Adding more content can become a great game
Heh, this is a fun idea. Combining racing physics to a (for lack of a better term) lawn mowing sim is genius!
Great "racing" game! Drifting feels supercool. Very smooth controlling and right level of difficulty.
It already is a good game but I could image to add some powerup items you could up to even increase the fun and slightly bigger maps perhaps. Just an idea.
Frankly just wow! What a game!! Everything from the idea to the presentation! Amazing! The UI was super original, fancy and polished. The sound design was perfectly fitting! The graphics were amazing! The controls smooth as butter! The difficulty was perfectly frustrating enough! Just perfect! Definetly the best game I have played in this jam. Wow! Just a loads of fun to play!! Just pure fun! Good job
just saw this review. thank you so much for the kind words :)
Very nice game, I managed to get 80 for my score and got a silver medal! I wish there was more to this game, more levels would've been great because I really had fun playing but it was so short sadly.
The game is very well done and polished, the art is beautiful for the main menu and the "story" picture before you start the game, and it's very cute ingame, I don't think I like how there isn't a way to reverse, I also found myself just drifting everywhere because it gave me more control over the car (maybe add a tire wear bar so you can prevent too much drifting?).
I love the music it's very fun and fitting for the game, great job and nice submission! (Very underrated game)
Your tire wear suggestion is a pretty good idea, we’ll consider that :). Also, you played all five levels, right? You can change which level to play using the speedometer on the level select screen. Just making sure because we realized afterwards that some people thought it was only a single level. Thanks :)
Oh I didn't know that haha, no I only played the first level.
Happy to help with the ideas :D
I rated the game as if it had more levels anyway dw haha
Great game and it looks amazing!! good job
Lol this was great! Really good use of the theme -really liked the art too -awesome work! :D
I love this kind of humour ahah. Really fun game!
Very fun little game, well polished. I liked the different control feelings on changing grounds.
This game is ridiculous, I love it!
Getting an immediate fail when you crash into the cones feels a bit harsh though. It discourages you from driving as fast as you can, which is what I wanted to do.
Well done!
good point! I noticed myself holding drift the whole time too
Fun game, just add drifting and you'll have better controls.
You actually can drift! Hold space to brake/drift. This is shown on the how to play screen, but we realized that some people may not see that screen, and it'll be more obvious in the post-jam version :)
Very nice artstyle, and the game is pretty fun! Though turning controls feel a bit too sensitive.
thanks for the feedback. maybe a gamepad would have worked better
nice! played a while! I like how you cant back up and blow up on walls. great job!
The way I came up with to make the driving controls was redirecting a percent of the player's speed (traction percent) in their move direction. this didn't work with reversing because it would redirect the backwards speed forwards. I know how to fix this in theory, but I didn't have time to actually implement a fix. Easiest thing was just to remove reversing. I love how that became a core part of the game that you enjoyed :)
Love The Game Car Controls Abit Bad Though!
Thanks for the feedback!
Really cool game! I loved the concept, visual, and polish. I had a great time playing it!
This game art is amazing, great job here! The concept its pretty fun too, good job! :D
The art-style of this is really well made! Main Menu looks incredible too! I love the retro-arcade vibe, It might be a little bit too easy to crash and it’s sad you don’t know what your score was if you did!
Overall a simple yet fun concept with a decent amount of replay value, would love to see it expanded upon with new mechanics and levels!
post jam we're planning on adding more levels, and that's a good idea about crashing - when u crash maybe we'll make it so the level ends right there. so you still don't want to crash but crashing with one second left is less punishing
Apart from not being able to reverse when you're about to hit the cones the driving is fantastic. I feel like it didn't lend itself too well with the lawn-moving part though. It would have been much more fun to race with it, but I guess that was the challenge of the game jam. Solid controls, and stellar art. Nice work!
Thanks! I'd love to work on my car physics more and make a racing game
The art is stellar. I found the controls a little difficult to get used to. I think if the car was just a slight bit slower it would be a bit easier to control. Often when I hit the edges of the stage it didn't feel like it was my fault, but rather because the car was out of control.
That could just be me, though. Solid game!
Game is pretty juicey, I really appreciate that artist
Thanks! Actually almost everyone on our team contributed considerably to the art, so as a bit of a pixel art perfectionist myself, I was pleasantly surprised when the graphics came together as cohesively as they did. I even learned a new pixel art techniques from one of my teammates.
