The graphics and general feel were really nice! I particularly liked the shooting black-screen effect and the flapping sound. It was cool how the hunter AI got better and better over time, but eventually it started to feel a bit repetitive - maybe you could make the rounds shorter, so the AI progression is a bit faster? Overall this was a really cool, polished take on the theme, great work!

This is a good point. In my head, I had challenged myself to recreate Duck Hunt as closely as possible, so the only thing on that front would have been to lower the duck saving threshold per round. (There’s always 10 ducks per round in the original, but the save amount threshold decreases.)

I agree that it gets repetitive eventually though. That’s good feedback! I saw other jammers’ take on Duck Hunt and they included things like flapping or dodging or giving the hunter other powers. That makes it more interesting, and I think I learned that maybe I boxed myself in too much with my original idea. Something to think about in the future!

Thanks for the feedback and for playing the game! Cheers!

Awesome entry!

The art and UI feel very faithful to the original duck hunt. The controls are smooth and the sound was done well too.

My one gripe is that the enemy AI was a bit inconsistent; it was generally avoidable, but on occasion it would beeline the duck and shoot you before you could realistically do anything about it.

Awesome idea and great work for 48 hours!

Developer

I agree; I think the AI still needs some more work. I had to move on from the AI due to the limited time. Maybe something to revisit in the future! Thanks for the feedback and for trying out the game!

This game is amazing, it's just such a fitting concept and it was executed really well, with a great design and difficult that really does scale with the levels. Good feeling controls and I congratulate you on your game

Developer

Thank you for the nice comment and for giving my game a go! :)

This was really nostalgic, great job

That looks just like I remember Duck Hunt. It's just missing the dog. Really good job recreating the feel. That target AI works really well. It starts off easy and gets progressively harder. I appreciate that it's not constantly following the duck. I died on lvl 6. The duck controls feel really smooth too.

Developer(+1)

I agree, I really wish I didn’t run out of time or I would have definitely included the dog. You can’t have Duck Hunt without the dog! Nice to hear you feel the targeting works well, I spend a lot of time on it and I still think it could use some tweaks. Thanks for giving the game a try!

I was curious about what you've made and it's so clean! Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game and the kind words!

You killed it! Did a great job of capturing the feel of the original duck hunt. I love that we went for the same idea of playing as the duck!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Absolutely phenomenal!

Cool twist on a classic. Would have loved for difficulty to ramp up a bit.

Developer

The difficulty scales over the rounds. I find that the Hunter shoots much more precisely by round 4 or 5. Thanks for trying out the game!

I was hoping to have that dog come up with tha tlittle jingle. Seriously though, good work on this.

Developer(+1)

Me too! It isn’t truly Duck Hunt without the dog! But unfortunately, I was running out of time so I had to cut the dog out of the game. 😭 Thank you for playing though!

Very nice idea. Sometimes in the later stages it felt like the hunter just snipes you right out of the gate with no real way out though

Developer(+1)

I agree, the hunter could use a little more work. In the late rounds it can feel a little too unfair. Thanks for trying out the game!

Ah the nostalgia :) Well made and well executed. I love how the hunter gets more accurate with every round

This looks amazing! I think that the idea is very good, and the controls feel very good.

Good idea and looking like the original ! One small problem : I managed to win a few times in a row without even moving, the gun would dodge me itslef. But good game anymway

Developer(+1)

Yes, the hunter starts out very ineffective; I wanted the first round to be pretty easy for people to get their bearings at the start. By round 5, the hunter is quite dangerous! Thanks for playing!
