Very addicting and fun game that quickly built muscle memory required to play it. Although at the beginning I felt that need to switch between characters just to move was a bit too much, I quickly got used to it.

Might want to rethink about the controls, like movement on one skimo and shoot on another is better than splitting the movement since it's very hard to keep up 3 buttons at a time in order to jump.

I mean we did that intentionally with the ice physics and whatnot. That's more or less the whole idea about the game otherwise it'd be just a normal platformer

Love the  concept! The gameplay feels consistent with the setting, with the ice being slippy-slidy and letting you build momentum.

Really interesting concept tho I feel that movement to one and bow and arrow to the other skimo might work better. switching between both just for movement seems tedious. Nice art too.

Cool. Takes a long time to get used to the controls. Couldn't figure out how to get past a certain point where the spikes where too low.

I think the hitboxes of the spikes should be smaller in general. Gives the player the feeling of leniency and close misses.

Great game, but not for the weak hearted. I managed to get far-ish in the first level, at the 2nd platforms that end up in a cave full of spikes if you miss the last jump. I will try again soon, I won't let this game beat me yet. 


Otherwise the concept is really great and the story is incredibly hilarious! I love games with a sense of humor. Presentation wise, the pixel art and music are great and fit well the theme. The controls are not intuitive, of course, but this is the purpose of the game.Keeping this in mind, I find that the level, until I have reach, is well designed and balanced with increasing difficulty. Can't wait to beat this game!

This game is fun to play but also very difficult. I think this was your intent from the get-go. It fits the theme nicely and it's always interesting to see when characters have two different abilities that you need to switch through.

Loves:

  • Tight controls. I love how switching from the red to the green eskimo keeps your momentum and you have to preserve it until you get over whatever obstacle, the bow shooting is also a nice addition to amp up the complexity
  • Nice visuals, they make the constant restarting a little bit more than bearable.
  • Great fitting music!

Nitpicks:

  • Hitboxes for the spikes are too wide, for a game this hard, some leniency on that part would be welcomed.

that is my personal biggest problem as well with  the game. Sadly unity was a bit mean with setting up the tiled spike hitboxes and we didnt have the time to manually adjust them. It's definitely high on my to-do list though! :)

I failed to make the characters jump over the first platform. I think I need to jump first then SHIFT to switch character to move horizontally, but it didn't work. I cannot move in the sky.

It saves your momentum, so if you already build up some velocity you can switch character and then jump and you'll continue moving :)

This is a really creative game, I like how switching between the two play modes is absolutely required to get past the first hurdle, really highlighting the joined together theme.  There's a steep learning curve on when to hit buttons in the proper order, but I can see how it would be extremely satisfying to master the gameplay and speedrun it (the timer starting immediately in the left-hand corner give you that kind of feeling, haha).  The art and the music complement the game well.  Great job with this!

Really great concept, it is quite difficult though. Almost too difficult at first. The jumps being inconsistently high was really hard to wrap my head around. I think the idea is very good, just could use a bit of polish. Great job!

I think your game suffers from the same issue as mine which it is super hard from the get-go. I watched your game-play footage first which made me willing to push through the initial spike of impossible-ness towards getting a satisfying rhythm going, and I eventually got the hang of it and it couldn't stop playing. I think with a simple animation showing which character you were controlling, as well as an easier start to the game would take this game from good to excellent

Animations for swapping sounds like a great idea, definitely something added to the list!
Level design wise, that's fair enough. If we make it out to be a full game we'll definitely try to take more care for the difficulty curve, since it's right now kind of flat.

It was very difficult for me to play the game, the controls were challending and i ended up forcing my hands and fingers together to reach WASD and Shift and be able to react quickly. Good idea but way too difficult since the beginning. needs a learning curve

one of the best feeling platformers I've played this jam. I think this would make a great speed running game. A+ on the art (not sure how I feel about the animal slaughter though)
