A neat concept! Unfortunately I ended up feeling like the optimal strategy was just to hold the accelerator down on both cars the whole time, but that's just a classic example of players optimising the fun out.
Really solid visuals too!

Fun game! Took a bit to understand the controls and not crash into walls constantly. Love the sound FX, great job!
Cool idea but controls were not very intuitive for me. Definitely a really good game for your first game jam well done!
Very fun game, it takes a little while to get used to the controls but once you do you can race it for real. Something to not would be exactly that, it takes a while to get used to the controls so the map should try and help the player assimilate this progressively before going headfirst into the color parts.
Hi Lulink!
Interesting mechanic! I thought the hints that were printed on the racetrack were a seamless and intuitive way of guiding the player towards a winning strategy. I found the gameplay challenging, but not impossible.
I think the biggest thing that would benefit this game would be music. I could picture an 8bit high-tempo racing song to go along with the gameplay. Maybe even have the speed of the music increase with speed of the rockets.
Great design!

Thanks for the feedback!
Since this is my first jam I decided against using any assets I didn't make myself, which meant fiddling with audacity to make the sound you do hear in-game, but that's the upper limit to my skills when I comes to sound design right now. Pre-Jam I had an idea of making a song using a kazoo, but it would probably not have been worth the time nor would it have fitted the game's style.
In my eyes feedback for the player's actions (including with sound effects) is more important than setting an atmosphere / ambiance through music. Nevertheless it probably would have been great having both!
The controls are really hard at first but the idea is interesting. I liked a lot the way you did the paths only accesible by one player because i did the same in my game even if the controls and the goal are completely differents.
Really fun. The controlls are wierd but the consept is fun. Could be fun to play with a friend one time to. It was hard to control at the start but the level was easy then the level got hard but it was easy to control. Really liked that I learned along the way
I actually felt like I was learning and getting better as I was going, great job, it was fun!
The controls where a bit awkward but once i got the hang of it it was really fun, well done
