I love negative Steve! Nice take on an already sen genre but it’s easy to control (Only one button, yay!) and fun to see how far you can get.

Nice choice of music, I felt like it goes well with your game.

Smal complaint, I think the sound effect for "okay" and "not okay" when passing door should be tweaked a bit, especially the  "okay" sound, at first I thought I was doing it wrong, and since I was focused on trying to figure things out, I didn’t really pay attention to my health.

Overall, nice sweet game, managed to get to level 8 after a few tries, I don’t know if it’s good or bad.

Anyway, congrats on submitting your game and keep it up!

Thanks! I totally agree with the choice of sounds being a bit ambiguous… I was generating random sounds using Bfxr, and after a while every sound started feeling the same in my head 🤣

I think you're onto something cool here.  Like others said, with a little more time for artwork I think this game could get addictive!

I noticed you did a good job animating the text in the opening.  Maybe you can pair that with some visual animations too.  For example, instead of just "*** goes through the gate***"  maybe you can also add an animation of the character going through the gate.

All in all, nice work.  I think there is some potential here!

@tducasse nice concept, its a good game, you should probably refine the art and art direction but as a concept its a solid game :D

Quite addictive! With more time to work on it, I'd have loved to see a leaderboard!

Clever take on the jam theme! At first I was confused why I am passing some doors without immediately losing, but then I noticed the heart icons on the top right.

Great design!

An easy to learn yet challenging experience, loved the dialogue! Good work!

Interesting game. A few more obstacles would have been nice.

I like the reference and idea for the game. Good music. you can work on game mechanic more to make it feel like we are entering portal doors.

Congratulations on completing and presenting a good game.

I liked the back to the future reference lmao. Anyway, the core mechanic is really simple (and a bit overdone tbh) but it's well executed, I liked the sprites and the music fit really well. Good job!

It's not my genre of game, I lose so fast ><
but still a fun experience :)

browser version won't load for me:( eh, it looked interesting to try

Developer(+1)

oh, are you using Firefox? I think it works better on chrome! Otherwise, there’s a few exports (Windows, Mac, and Linux), so you could try downloading it instead 😃

yes, firefox. thanks, i'll try:)

Fun game, nice intro. The game should probably end immediately when you reach 0 hearts, but that's just nitpicking

Developer(+1)

Yeah I considered this, but then I thought it was fine because it gets hard really quick, so I just left it that way! Thanks for playing :)

That was a fun intro!!  Very interesting mirrored gameplay idea :D Super neat entry to the jam! Please check out mine when you have time.

Clever intro! The color coordination was terribly confusing at first since the black doors are solid black but the white doors are duo-toned. It took a few tries for me to figure out which character I had "selected." But I figured it out. Overall well done for the limited time!
