I love the idea and the game is well made! The fact that you have to move with the bricks and a really nice touch to the well-known game! Well done The character is super cute!!
Some levels are a bit hard, maybe an higher jump (more space jump with low-gravity) would have remove some frustration when you miss the bar because the character didn't jump enough (or maybe I'm just bad 😅)
Good game! 😁
Thanks for the feedback! The jump definitely could have used a lot of fine-tuning. If it was higher at the same speed, you could jump across most of the screen and not have to worry about the terrain. If I slowed down the movement of the paddle then that part would be too frustrating.
Maybe the best solution would be to have the jumper move a little slower and let the paddle move faster, to a certain maximum distance away.
Cool idea! I thought it was simple and straightforward in the first level and then the jumping came in and thats when the smartness of the idea really shined! As a comment below mentioned, the direction of the bounce seems random but if it were to be fixed based on the incoming angle, theres options to strategize on which blocks to take out. I think the getting stuck in a 2 block high hole is something I'd prefer to strategize around rather than double/triple click away from
Smart mix of mechanics and a clever interpretation of the theme, I enjoyed playing till the end :)
Thanks for reviewing! Ironically the "double jump" feature is a bug that I left in for people that get frustrated with the deep pits.
The bounce angle of of the paddle can actually be controlled, but I thought it was more intuitive than it actual it was.
Simple but cool! Good work! :)
a simple yet brilliant concept. it's getting very hard very quick though but for some reason, this challenge feels deeply personal haha. I just have to beat it!
Awesome game! Fun spin on a classic. Also agree with others, level 3 was brutal hahaha
Nice concept! The mashup works really well and it's fun to play. We tried a similar thing but joining arkanoid with the snake game, would love to hear what you think!
Pretty nice game, ugh that level 3 though :')
Really great concept here, a nice change up on the classic arkanoid gameplay!
Nice work! :)
Neat little idea, Pretty quickly found that spamming the jump button lets you drag the paddle pretty much anywhere. Now I'm thinking that it would be interesting if it was a "survive as long as you can" type of game, don't you think?
Good idea on the main twist, and the presentation feels fluid and cohesive, but there’s a few problems that kept me from feeling the fun.
Since the direction the ball, coming from a bounce, goes in is (or felt to me at least) random, there isn’t any way to strategize, and it just becomes breakout but with repeated clicking.
This is the most clear in level 3 (with the 2-deep pits. I found that I could cheese it though: just repeatedly clicking fast enough gives you an infinite jump.)
Maybe if the jumper was on an unbreakable brick at the beginning (to prevent players from just shooting up), then the bouncing direction can be less random, giving you a chance to strategize with the jumper?
Thank you for the detailed feedback! The bounces are not supposed to be random, when the ball bounces off of the paddle, the direction is based on where the impact is on the paddle (If the ball hits directly in the middle, it should go straight up), so there's actually some control there. Honestly I just couldn't figure out how to explain it in short so I left it out of the instructions
Hey this is really cool, I just beat all 3 levels. This felt extremely original and definitely left me wanting more! It would be really cool if the top guy could trigger power ups for the paddle like multi ball? Really well done, this is awesome, congrats on submitting, and thanks for the game!
This is is a really interesting mix of mechanics, wasn't too sure going into it and took a second to figure out what exactly was going on, but, once I did it really hooked me, definitely pretty difficult to try and manage brick breaker and a platformer at the same time. Great job!
Really cool idea, I think the best bit is the time you have already created a gap to go into but need to find the right moment to get the astronaut down without loosing the ball.
Unique concept. You can only move the platform bellow if the jumper above move too. The challenge is to keep track both of them so you can move the platform smoothly to catch the ball while clearing the brick.
I feel the sound effect is a little too loud though. But great job!
Fun game, and creative take on the theme. Once I realized the character can jump the game became really fun. You did a great job on the character too.
Thank you! Yes, the second and third levels would be pretty much impossible without jumping.
I really like the concept of this game. It's very fun and challenging to manage the ball at the bottom and the platforming at the top.
Pretty fun and a smart way to put a twist on a classic game. Once I figured out you could infinitely jump it really breaks the game though. You can't lose if you just spam click and it basically makes it an easier version of the original breakout because all you have to do is make one hole. I don't think its intended to be able to do that though? Anyway good job!
You found my secret! I left it in in case anybody needed a bit of a boost
I never would have thought about creating a Brickout kind of game with this restriction. Found this to be a really fun twist on that type of game. Good job!
I really like this spin on Atari Breakout! It isn't too demanding of the player to manage both the paddle and character on top. The sound effects were hilarious. The entire game is actually really engaging! Good job!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you didn't find it too frustrating
