Interesting game. Very clever to show that I got the bad ending. It made me go back to find the alternate path for the good ending. Good game.

Thanks!

A neat little game, could be quite good if you can get the bugs ironed out and really juice it up.

Some kind of animation for the cube's disappearance would have gone a long way, I think. I understand why you couldn't just leave them in the playing field, but it felt a little weird watching them suddenly disappear when I step onto a button (to no obvious effect).

I know people have already mentioned how finicky the grab is, but I wanted to give a bit more detail: it seems like you can only grab things from the left? Not ideal but definitely something you can work around. I also had some issues with grabbing springs making me slide backwards, and it threw me off that I could use wasd to move, but could only use the down arrow if I wanted to grab.

The multiple endings and the narration was a fun little bright spot in the game, the Portal and Stanley Parable inspiration definitely shines through. Congrats on getting a jam submission in!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! As I didn't want to make animations for walking each direction, I made it so that you could only face forward, thus meaning you can only grab things that are in front of you. I knew it would cause softlocks, but I was just being lazy. Grabbing the springs had several bugs that I couldn't figure out, and then I forgot to take the ability to grab them out before submitting. As for the controls issue, Its because movement is mapped to the horizontal axis (wasd, and arrow keys), but the grab button is mapped specifically to the down arrow. I plan on updating the game when the jam is over.

Cool game. Love the narrator-thing! Maybe a restart button would be nice.

Clever idea. Well done!

I love puzzle platformers and a snarky narrator is always a gold mine.  But it's just too glitchy for me to enjoy.  Jumping doesn't seem to work correctly a lot of the time.  Sometimes I can doublejump, sometimes not.  And somehow it just feels really inconsistent.  Plus unless there is something I'm missing if a crate is too close to a wall or jump pad either by accidentally pushing, falling or bouncing there doesn't seem to be a way to pull it back and I had to reset the game so many times I gave up.

Sorry, there seems to be a good idea here but I was only left with frustration.

Developer

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the game. I tried to work out as many bugs as I could, but working on it alone meant I couldn't do too much. I will definitely be updating the game after the jam though.

Don’t apologize for your game, as a fellow dev I know how hard it is.  I think you could really have something here after the jam.  I’m just trying to leave feedback on each & every game I rate as I believe it’s important to do so.  The volume of posts I’m making means I just can’t spend too much time making sure my empathy comes through I just have to quickly say what’s on my mind and move on to the next.

Great job participating and best wishes.  Hope you can develop your game further it’s worth it.

Definitely got some Portal feels from playing this / the Stanley Parable. Enjoyed the narration as well! I got the bad ending a few times in the row, which I'm personally very offended by but I suppose I should just get better ;) Nice level layouts as well

Developer

Thanks! You're the only person to notice how inspired off the Stanley Parable this is.

I liked it, played through it quite a bit as apparently there is 2 endings on it... Basically got the bad ending 3 times because what does one do when they get the bad ending, they do exactly the same but expect a different result!

Nice platformer with portal vibes, with some visual tweaks and "juice" I think this could be improved. Good submission!

This is a really interesting idea that seems to be held back by bugs. Firstly, the controls were kind-of non-obvious to me, and it wasn't until I thought to check the actual game page that I learned how to pick up boxes. Some in-game control prompts would be helpful. There are some weird physics things, such as the forces/impulses when the game forces you in a direction and the jump you get from springs (both the bounce and the double jump after). (Also, there's weird issues with things like wall collisions, but I know that's just a problem with Unity's 2D physics). I also had issues with the "narration" not always working in a few spots. It also seems like the ending is a little incomplete (there's no narration there?). Despite all these issues I had, I still found it interesting, and would be interested in seeing what could be done with more development time.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I was going to put a controls menu in the game but I didn't have time to make it. The game pushing you back after trying to go the wrong way did have a glitch where it kept adding force after you were outside of it, but I couldn't figure out why it was doing that. And the dialogue is very unfinished as I didn't have time to get everything done. I will definitely update this after the jam is over.

That narrations and art are great. Sometimes I would knock over the springs and I wouldn't be able to get to the end. I got both endings too!

Really like the test chamber look! The physics felt quite finicky sometimes, such as launching me across the room a couple times, but other then that the game's really fun. I like how each level is connected to the previous one, rather then just a bunch of disconnected boxes. Good entry!

Developer

Thanks! The  Physics were hard to get down and stuff was constantly breaking (The jumppads broke an hour before the deadline), but I plan on fixing all that.

The narration felt a lot like Portal, loved it a lot. Pretty fun puzzle game to play!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! This was inspired by portal and the stanley parable.

A portal-like puzzle game with an interesting take on the theme! Sound design is precise and dialogue is genuinely funny. Visuals are interesting and diverse! The dialog system seemed a bit glitchy, I seemed to get the lines in a weird order.. All in all, a fun little puzzle game with an original take on the theme!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! I had a hard time with the dialog system, but I might update the game after the game jam.
