  • Was a throughly enjoyable experience! Knowing that foods from other biomes gave more calories lead to me spending the extra time to try and platform/puzzle my way towards some of the trickier foods (like the ones where you have to jump while moving up a slope to reach). The dialogue and relationship between the two characters is really fantastic and left me wanting just a bit more! That being said, I felt like the game was just about as long as it needed to be without the gameplay loop feeling repetitive. One of the big highlights for me was the soundtrack, which I really enjoyed and will listen to more later!
  • A really pleasant experience with a bit of finnicky platforming. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between the characters and the writing but I feel like the theme could have been implented a bit more. Wonderful art with music that complimented the experience well.
  • At first glance I thought this was a visual novel and was excited to see that it was also a pretty good puzzle solving platformer.
  • The writing was good and I liked the cute little deer sprite.

Content Warning
Weight gain, feeding, intimately touching fat (probably nothing worth a warning given the jam lol)

The characterization is wonderful with absolutely adorable writing and cute art. The platforming (especially on angled surfaces) was a little jank but nothing that could take away from how lovely the game was overall.

This was really neat!  I liked the spritework and the writing was  great! Controls felt good too!

THIS GAME IS SO GAYYY I LOVE IT!! The sprite seemed like it maxxed out in size like 3 nights in, but other than that its very good. The art is adorable and the music is very cozy, love it!

I think it's impossible to truly max her sprite in 3 days - she does still get fatter after a pose change, but it makes sense that wouldn't be tremendously noticeable c: Getting any single part to its biggest, if you solely focus on that part, should take until at least day 4 I think. I dunno, been a bit since I did the math.

Thank you!! ^w^

Absolutely superb! The gameplay was involved enough to sell the experience and lets everything else make the game shine. The writing was practically perfect and all the art was cute, especially the ending. I was also in love with the music, it fit the game very well. Surprised this was a jam game with how well it turned out!

Really solid! The platforming wasn't anything crazy but I still enjoyed exploring the different areas, and the two main characters are super precious. Ya'll cooked with this one, lovely work!

Thank you! Good work on your own project too, it's one of my favourites that I've played so far c:

good game its very good and the main char its cute btw but its need more content

Glad you liked it! I understand wanting more, but this game was effectively my whole life during the entire duration of the jam. This was the absolute most that I could create. I worked the most on the game out of the team as far as I can tell, but even the others wouldn't have been able to add a whole lot. Another day would require new dialogue that I would not have been able to write in time; besides Jamorphous not having time to make one, a new level wouldn't fit into the belly/butt/boob system anyway (unless we made 3 more?); adding another fat stage to each pose would likely not have been possible for Enkah.

As for post-jam support, it's unlikely the game will get new days or writing. Jamorphous has expressed interest in doing something with the platforming (I'm not actually certain what yet >w>) and it's possible Enkah might touch up some art, or make new art since plenty of dev art is left in the game.

Point is: as of right now there aren't many longterm plans for Snack Wanderer. Maybe some small content-related updates, and definitely some bug fixes if/when needed. That's all I can really promise. Game dev is a ton of work, so even though I'm very proud of what we made and think there should be more games/experiences like it, I don't know how much more of the creation process I can stomach for the foreseeable future... ^w^;

thank to know about thats

This was a delightful game. Very cute. I replayed it a couple of times to see the variations on the shark girl's gains. The platforming segments aren't particularly special, but the area gimmicks are interesting. I especially like the slopes on the mountaintop, acting as both a hazard and a vertical boost when you know what you're doing.

This is really good. It’s nice when gameplay choices actually impact story outcomes. The art is cute and the story is quite well written! I really like this game. I also like that the controls are rebindable at the start. That makes a big difference.

A minor gripe is that sometimes interact and jump seem to have their usage swapped. Sometimes hitting interact will select a thing or dialog option and sometimes jump will do that. I haven’t tried binding interact and jump to the same button yet.

Copy/Paste of Rubric:

  1. Fun: I think this deserves a +1, since the platforming aspects are well polished and the level design is pretty clever, given the revisiting aspects.
  2. Creativity: A story platformer isn’t what I would consider groundbreaking, but between the art and story and content I’d like to give this +1.
  3. Fetish Factor: The writing is really top notch and goes well with the art. I’m torn between an +1 and a +2. It’s one of the hotter entries in the jam in my mind. I think I have to go to +1.
  4. Theme: The theme was reasonably integrated. It was part of the story, yes (the friend’s travel and your own island ‘vacation’). I don’t know if I can go +1 since it didn’t interact mechanically.
Bonus point for accessibility and an all-around good experience. I liked this.

Oh? I don't believe those should ever be checked in the wrong places. In fact the interact key bool doesn't show up in the textbox's code at all o,o I wonder what was going on? If it's more of a 'philosophical' disagreement of where/when they should each be used, fair enough!

Also, setting interact and jump to the same key won't let you progress. By coincidence I coded it such that it'll just start the rebind process again ^w^; But I also added the ability to use F8 on that screen to initiate it as well, just in case.

Anyway-- thank you! In total I wrote about 15k words for this over the course of a week. Was very intensive, and I'm glad it's over >w>

there is one possible bug

when the fifth day comes, one of the places disappeared from the list of available

the art is cute and the game is easy to play (I can't rate the text, because constantly taking a screenshot and sending it to translate with such long dialogues would simply choke me), in a word, excellent

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you!

That's not a bug actually, it's the game preventing the player from going to an area with too few ingredients remaining. I'll add some text which explains that though!

Edit: Okay actually it points to the wrong line of text in the current version >w> so it would take the wrong area off the list. Oops. Still, what you saw was kind of intended!

I understand you, then I think everything is fine
