Cool, i like the art style, the atmosphere, the art,  the dream sections feel... dreamy, dynamic; such a cool contrast with a cold reality that by the end of the game gets to feel even comfortable, even when there's not gameplay in those sections the dialogues are worth to read and interesting.
I sure will be looking after the post-jam update. (Sorry about  the writing quality, i just wanted to rate the game, but it's worth to just write "Cool")

As a game horror it do it job very well having a kind of creepy atmosphere and creepy art to go with it as for gameplay it works very well as you have to pick were you go with your food tuck and what buff you want for the nightmare part which is hard but not unfair it do come down to timing as the game as whole it is one of my top three game of this jam because this is the most complete game of the jam and can be replayed.

I think this one is really good!

As the game progresses, two 'sides' to the atmosphere definitely do emerge, with the dreams being more pleasant and friendly in a way than the waking world. Seeing as the title is "Sweet Dreams" I assume that's intentional though? So it didn't strike me as an issue.

The gameplay is serviceable, and the idea to have certain food truck spots give different benefits is a neat one. It's not something I'm inclined to revisit though, so I'm glad that the endings are largely on a spectrum of how well the player performed rather than being more equal or esoteric. The thought of replaying this game several times to go for distinct but equal endings is a little dire, it's too monotonous for that. I haven't experienced any freezes myself - just got manic pixie, player-stuffing & true ends - but if I had I'm sure it'd be a slog to deal with. Those issues are more or less inevitable in a game jam, but the boredom in that instance stems from gameplay design rather than technical issues, at least in my view.

That said, the BedBug chases (when they aren't trivialized by her weight~) did instill a fair bit of tension when I came close to her. I think it does a legitimately good job on that front, it feels like stakes are high whether you get hit by BedBug or just the nymphs. Player health seems well balanced, basically.

Outside of BedBug, I'm not sure this game's fats did much for me. It's mostly just getting a brief look at someone fat, which is pleasant but not really flustering or anything on its own. It's very well done with BedBug though, she has a great design and her weight gain is lovely~! (although the ending is a crime as far as I'm concerned, she should stay fat!!!)

I like the unique setting/atmosphere of the game overall c: It felt rather fresh to me, and interfaces with the gameplay and narrative well. That the different tile types - as well as the dreams in their entirety - are based off of the protagonist's past is a nice touch, gives them some grounding and emotional weight. Their existence/placement in the dreams is fully justified by it. It's slick.

The theme's presence seems a tad weak: the player character travels to a new place as part of the game's premise, and then I guess travels about the town/city/whatever in their food truck. Arguably they travel to & in the dreams, but... that feels like a stretch. Personally I don't really care how much it adheres to the theme? >w> But seeing as that's a metric by which entries are judged, it's maybe worth mentioning.

Anyway yeah I liked this a lot!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much!

That was definitely intended. The protag is going through the a rough time in the "real" world and sees it as a bit dreary, but they're kind of new to the lucid dream thing they're experiencing since they're usually stuck in the "sensory depraved hellscape" every night. Even in the worst case scenario, they see the dreamscape as more vibrant since it's something new and interesting to them.

Yeah, gameplay's kinda "walking sim-y" to be honest. I meant to prioritize saving more than I did so players wouldn't have to trudge through the whole thing repeatedly to explore the different town interactions and endings, but I didn't emphasize it as well as I should have. I did mean for the mazes to be interesting to explore, but I recognize that exploring the whole thing is over-incentivized since you'll fail the stuffing segment if you miss any ingredients. I can see how pushing for a particular ending can get really tedious, especially on repeat attempts.

Still feel like I made those chases too easy at higher weight levels, I may go back and revise those a bit. If nothing else add some more nymphs or other potential obstacles so a bigger BB at least has a chance of keeping up lol I also considered making her deal more damage the higher her weight, but coding the chase sequences was easily the most challenging part and a large reason for the bug on Night 4 that's kept people from seeing the feedee ending.

Fair! Main thing I realized is that, as much as I like chonky women, I haven't actually drawn that many of them. I wanted to use this as a way to practice drawing different heay-set body types, though that comes at the expense of not really emphasizing any of them all that much. BB really stole the show in that respect, though! She's one of the central characters, so I really wanted to make sure I got her gains right.
Also HAHA ya got STICCBUGGED! I thought having her drop the weight at the end would be funny, and I couldn't help myself.
(But admittedly I'm also enamored by the idea of the stuffing/gain being a repeatable game that they play, I personally really like the impermanence of it)

Really glad you liked the atmosphere! Working on that was probably my favorite part, and it's the element of the game I think I'm most proud of.

I agree. My central idea was "make sure the player is very particular about HOW they travel" through their choices in upgrades (would they rather have a speed boost once, a permanent hp upgrade, an easier time collecting ingredients) as well bearing in mind how the tiles will affect their paths of travel (tiles potentially dropping them in a nymph's path). Tried too hard to make it unique but it didn't come together at all how I would've liked and just became a big stretch instead. Kind of disappointed with how I've handled it, but I just had to come to terms with the fact that I fumbled and I'm gonna be docked points for it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a detailed critique! I do truly appreciate the criticism, and I'm happy to hear that you still enjoyed the game!!

re: not having drawn lots of fat women, hehe yeah,, I checked your bluesky after playing looking for more fat (monster) girls but there weren't a whole lot >w> which is fair, you clearly have much more multifaceted interests than I.

Glad the comment was pleasant and/or helpful all around c:

Best game in the jam for me right now. Art, story, text, gameplay, almost everything is good. But there is one thing that spoils the art - the friezes. This is not the first game on this engine that can freeze at the most inconvenient moment, which is why I often save on it. But since the opportunity to stay here is limited (which I do not blame the author for), I had to cross the third and fourth nights three times halfway to the finish line, or at the finish line itself.

Nevertheless, I am very satisfied. Compared to what I've already played on this jam, it's an order of magnitude higher, 5/5.

ANOTHER IMPISH BANGER THE ONE AND ONLY

it's can play this on this website?

Developer

Are you asking for a Browser version? I may add one after the Jam's judging period has ended.

Ok

there's probably no point in saying that this game is simply amazing, I'm literally enchanted by it to such an extent that I started looking for all sorts of endings

and I found one bug, when you once killed a bedbug and reached the end of the third dream empty, the scene loops (up to the point where the character physically cannot retreat, although he should, because of which the game simply stops in anticipation) and otherwise the game is simply excellent, thank you for creating it

ok, i'm a little late with this, but know that there is a second person (at least) who wanted to go through all the endings, thanks again for the game)

Developer(+2)

I really appreciate you saying so, Den! Can't tell you how happy it makes me that people have been enjoying this one so much.

These bugs are killin' me, though! So a single stuffing session by the end of Night 3 results in a looping cutscene? I believe this one was brought up earlier, in which case I've got it all fixed up for the Post-Jam patch. Thank you for reporting it, though!

Thank you for playing!

10/10- no 11- NO INFINITY/10! I love this so much. The art is amazing and the game play loop is very satisfying with the small additions made to each night!

Developer

VERY HIGH praise there, thanks a bunch Lucario! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game so much!

wait shit, I forgot to change to my alter ego. I keep forgetting to change my usernam

This game is great!! The only issues I have is that it occasionally crashes at random points. The character design is very nice, especially the little heart bedbug's hair makes near the ending, love ittt.

Developer(+1)

Thanks Urchie! Yeah, unfortunately this game is in much worse shape than I would have liked. A lot of these issues really snuck by me, but hopefully I'll have them all fixed once the judging period is finished.

Glad you noticed the little "ahoge heart" too, I love adding little details like that <3

I enjoyed this one a lot actually! The puzzles were a little easy to bruteforce due to abundant healing items. I never naturally lost once. But the idea is fun and the art was really nice! I did feel like the relationship switchup between the leads was maybe a little sudden, but I'm sure that's at least in part because of the limited time for the jam.

Character designs were all nice, and I really like the art style. The mystery and premise of the game is neat as well, though I didn't feel like I understood it much more by the end than the beginning. Good stuff overall!

Developer

Happy to hear it, Sixes!
Yeah, I decided to make it easier than I'd originally intended since the events didn't wind up working exactly the way I wanted, and I didn't want anyone to lose due to unfair circumstances. I won't say that the relationship wouldn't have been rushed without the time-frame, but it didn't help either lol I'm hoping to flesh things out a little more once the judging period has ended.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate the support and feedback!

Incredible!  The story and characters are really compelling. The art design is peak. I look forward to playing the other endings and unraveling the mysteries of Portly Hollow.  You've done a great service to lovers of fat monster girls <3

Developer

Thanks so much, Nano! The kind words mean a lot, I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it!

As a "fat monster girl" lover myself, I'm just doing my civic duty <3

Amazing art, writing, and atmosphere. Each night's new mechanic added another dimension to navigating the levels and it really shows how you planned them out. I kind of wish there was more to the soapy bubbles mechanic, but honestly I also wish there was more game to play so take that as you will. I only got the true ending so far, so I'm wondering if the other five endings are just a matter of failing a certain number of times, or if there's something else I missed that could have influenced the way things went.

In any case, amazing work as always, Impish. I'm super excited for what you make next, both the promised updates to Sweet Dreams and the release of Impious, and whatever else you happen to do on the way.

Developer(+1)

Huge thanks for the glowing review, Morph! Deeply appreciate it!

I really wanted to experiment more with the bubbles, but time got away from me near the end. And yeah, the ending you get is tied directly to how many nights you've failed. Failing all 4 leads to the worst, failing 3 leads to the second worst, etc. Though the feedee end only happens when you lose Night 4 on an otherwise perfect run, but I've gotten reports that it's a bit bugged right now.

Thanks for playing and sticking around! =D

(+1)

This was fucking fantastic. The mazes were frustrating, but only because I'm a dumbass perfectionist who had to go through without taking damage. I just wish the Bad End I was trying to get on Night 4 hadn't been bugged. Also that her final size in the true end had its own art.

Developer

Glad you think so, Korota! I feel ya about the mazes lol. Even as the one who made them, I'd still get myself a little lost on occasion.
And I'm SUPER bummed that Night 4 is acting weird too, but luckily I think I know how to fix that for the next update!

Art for her final size was definitely on the to-do list, but I ran out of time. I didn't even get the title art done until about 20 minutes before the deadline, so I just had to put that one off until later. Next update, tho... <.<

Pretty charming! Not a theme I would usually expect to work with this but I think it's nice, though speaking of theme, I do think there's a pretty noticeable level of contrast between how serious some of the topics that are brought up in the real world are when compared to the dream sequences getting to the fetishy topics very fast. Very fun regardless, one of my favorites from this gamejam!

Developer

I agree with you to be honest, I feel like I could have transitioned between the darker stuff and the cutesy fluffier stuff better. I don't necessarily regret including it, but it is a pretty jarring leap between the two.

But I'm happy to hear you still had a good time with it, Enkah!

(+1)

This was peak. The monster girl design is amazing, and her dialogues are very nice too 👌💯

The game wasn't too punishing, good difficulty curve as well. Really enjoyed my time playing and would love to see more :3

Developer(+1)

Yoo, thanks BubbleBloat! I had a lot of fun designing this little nightmare weirdo, so I'm glad to hear you liked her too!

Also happy to hear that the gameplay didn't give you a hard time! Balance is something I'm still working on improving.
I've grown pretty attached to these two dorks, so I'd really love to do more with them in the future!

(+1)

the game very nice, despite not being as scary as any other horror game, horror is not the main focus of the game but the fetish content it gives, the nice arts for each npc you meet in the game but what make this game special is Bedbug herself, she cute in any size she is, and in my own perspection i would love to rub said fat she has, i give applauses to the game and it creator

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the applause, Xandy, happy to hear you enjoyed it!

Only got one route done tonight but I'll be coming back to this one. Loved the art, loved the whole amalgamation of various cosmic horrors into the town, loved the development of the protag's and BedBug's relationship.

Developer

As someone who's been following and enjoying your work for a little while now, that's some tremendous praise. I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it, Chubberdy!
