I feel like there's not really a reason to ever take the pill that increases stomach compacity and lowers digestion over the opposite one aside from fetish aspect. Also, the instant game over chance from the inflation is rough. This would be really neat to see expanded upon, and I think the map is super cute looking!

The RNG needs tweaked; but it's pretty fun! I really like the graphics of the world map and the UI! The character model reminded me of old style software  rendering and was pretty cute too! Would love to see if this gets expanded post-jam!

So as is, its pretty neat, but there are a good couple of issues that I think hold it back.

My main issue is that this game is RNG as FUCK. Every eating challenge seems random, which takes any interest in them away aside from just making the MC bigger. The inflation thing to increase capacity is basically a coinflip from what I've done of it, to the point I just don't bother after a certain point because it sucks shit to lose a bunch of progress to said coinflip. And as for the pill guy, the fact that it always takes all of your money is kinda lame as it basically makes the next challenge you choose an all or nothing situation. Plus, not really knowing how your capacity/digestion stats look makes any risk feel very vibes based. Maybe its just because I never grew up playing/even played Oregon Trail, but having these events be coinflips, and one of them being a game over if you are just unlucky, feels super not fun.

There's also the variety of events. There's really only three IIRC, the pill dealer, the inflation one, and any eating challenge. Outside of that, there really isn't anything else to do, not even a real end point. I wish there were some other events, like maybe meeting someone else who's doing the same trip, or having to upgrade your car to accommodate your weight, or helping to squeeze another contestant out a door frame, or maybe some flavor text while driving depending on your weight. Maybe some endings, like if you take too many of the dealers pills, you become a dealer or something yourself, or if you do the inflation event too many times successfully, you become an ad balloon for a restaurant. I think it just needs some more things to really make it feel fleshed out.

I got some other small issues, but they aren't really major. I kinda wish the model fattened up more around the arms and face to match her torso, the lack of that sorta threw me off. I also wish it had some audio, music or sfx, either or.

Overall, the game itself is neat, but I do think it's a bit too barebones as is. I'd probably say a 6/10, leaning more towards a 7.

Appreciate it. The RNG for this release is pretty vicious. I have it tweaked but didn’t push out the changes before the window closed. Same with the pill price, which I patched to be between $100 and $500, but I guess I didn’t merge that change in time. Same with extra events. I don’t think the one where the player gets stuck on the way out of an event made it into the jam build.

I like those ending ideas. Might have to experiment with them later.

Didn't expect mathematically planning every bite to optimally consume 5 pizzas in 90 seconds to be as entertaining as it was. Fun game with plenty of room to grow!

My main suggestion would be to add things to make traveling the world feel more impactful.

For example:

  •  Each city could be specialized in a certain food group. Like driving through Meat town could make all meat related challenges harder and more rewarding
  • Flags could be a  grand challenge, where beating it would make you that city's champion
  • Gas stations between towns that require the player to spend money to re-fuel their car
Developer

Great suggestions. Thank you.

I had the gas stations cost money at first and it was a little annoying/unfair. Maybe once I rebalance the RNG for the competitions I can put it back. The grand challenges could be fun.

Neat idea, like the various events. Could use a few more, also the pill price was a bit odd, and later would let me buy them for a 1$ when I was at a 1$ from the last event, need's a min/max price still if it's based on your money available.

I liked the description changing as you got bigger, but I think this only happened once. I could see the need to get a car upgrade at the end of each lap, i.e. something to save for. A HUD showing your info would be useful too.

Played till the model broke and then played a bit after that, lol. Pretty fun game and a good use of the theme. I agree with others that the randomness can sometime be a tad unfair, but I think that's part of the fun. Had to really think it over before accepting a competition. Adding the overfull explanation like I've seen mentioned on other comments would be a great idea. Good game :)

Hello.

Thank you again for your feedback on my game. I'd like to give some feedback on yours. Whether it's complimentary or negative, my goal is to provide objective and comprehensive feedback. (These lines were written before the review).

Let's move on to the review.

Built:
- Stomach capacity: 0
- Digesting capacity: 3
- Pumping upgrade: 3
- Cramp resistance: 2
- Playing time: 48.33 min
- Number of turns: 3
- Max money: 1661
- Money at the end: 1661
- Number of challenges completed: 22 (approximately)
- Total number of challenges: 87 (approximately)
- Hardest challenge: 6 pizzas in 45 seconds (no overeating)
- Ending: Game closed

What I like:
- I really like the graphics. They remind me a bit of "Advance War" (think about making the car go in all 4 directions)
- The dialogue interface reminds me of Windows 95/2000 game interfaces (nostalgia is taking a hit).
- The theme seems Well-executed.
-The character is well-crafted. The pixelated 3D gives him a vintage feel, somewhere between 2D and 3D.
-I'd even forgotten this type of gameplay existed. Well thought-out!
-The interactions and storyline are solid. A slightly minimalist feel against a rogue-like backdrop. It reminded me of "choose your own adventure" games.
-The boosts are very well thought-out.
-Between a board game and a visual dexterity game.
-Good idea to play with the shape of the "ingredients."

What I disliked:
-Too long and repetitive. The time between each challenge can be very long.
-Silent.
-The refill animation is too random when you're maxed out (activation and time).
-You can only finish the game by losing or closing it. A final goal or the ability to retire in glory would have been nice.
-I would have liked a reminder of the remaining resources. Money is Reminded, so it's okay. But for stomach capacity, it's more complicated to know if you have the capacity to attempt a challenge. The same goes for overstuffing, the difference between air and food, and the increase level of each upgrade.
- Swallowing air is more penalizing than swallowing food. If there's too much air, the rapid reduction of the bar is stopped. A little mini-game of belly massage to empty the air would have been nice and useful.

Possible improvements and ideas:
-Interface.
-General layout (title screen, music, sound effects)
-Make a real victorious ending.
-A scoring system would have allowed the community to share their runs.
-End of games
-The event with the pump would have been nice with a mini-game. Relying on luck for this is a shame when the game is meant to be technical.
-You can take a while By no longer doing challenges and accumulating all the bonuses, he'll always ask you what you have left. And so you can chain them together for $1.
-The price isn't representative of the challenge. This can add to its charm, in the sense that some big prizes are given for challenges. So I'm putting it as an improvement point.
- Make the map more interactive with specific places to stop and the choice to choose your route. With specific events at specific locations and rivals in addition to random events (for example).
- Play with the size of the ingredients (a slice of pizza, a whole pizza, for example).

Bug:
-The fill bar can bug when you go beyond the maximum. It gets stuck above 100, and you can no longer see if you have space left before it's full. Maybe it's due to the capacity being exceeded. If that's the case, plan for a bar with overstuffing or something to understand.

Final vision:
Your game plays very well. There's a real graphic identity reminiscent of Windows 95/2000 games, which is really appreciated. The sprites are also very cute despite the rather empty map. The various events are nice, but you quickly get used to them. A few additional mini-games to add depth would have been welcome, but overall it's good. The lack of music and sound effects takes away from its dynamics (I would have played the MS-Dos map with 8-bit sounds to push it to the max). The game ultimately feels repetitive and ends in defeat, in my opinion, no matter what. Either you give up when you quit, or you lose. The world also lacks life, in my opinion (or even improvements and ideas). In any case, the foundation is very good and deserves to be refined with a real story, adventures, and a more extensive map. I'll finish by saying that the randomness It's good, but you have to know how to set limits.

Thank you for this project and thank you again for your feedback. I can only hope that your game is judged for its true worth and that this participation is as profitable as it is enjoyable.

Good luck and good work.

Ps: English is not my native language, I apologize if my tone is not good at some times. I am bad at it.

Fun game with a great premise! Extra points for bloating /and/ weight gain, I think that aspect is usually underrated!

Great game, would love to see this get expanded with maybe more ways to view the player or maybe unlock different characters.  Ways to specifically get certain assets larger or an upgrade to the bite size aswell as more events and maybe some kind of deadline? Like a challenge at the end of the lap so you'll have to prepare for it. A shop would be nice aswell instead of hoping on rng to get the pill event.

Developer(+1)

Bite size upgrade was planned, but I didn’t get it in time. Shopping is a really good idea. I’ll have to do that. Maybe every city.

really hard, it's fun, but not good ending... at leat i couldn't reach it

Played it, Quite fun! It's a little hard to beat but really gives me Oregon trail vibes!

Developer

I appreciate that and agree. I’ve got a patch to make things easier but I’m reluctant to do that before the jam is up because I’m worried about breaking things. I’ll patch it when judging is over.
