Everything looks and sounds fine, but I couldn't really do anything in the game. The ghost would simply prevent me from doing it, either by chasing me leaving no chance to interact with stuff or by killing me in the middle of a dialog with no chance to escape.
Sadly he's too powerful. Biggest regret for the jam was putting off play testing till the last hour!
None of my friends told me that the ghost in this house would kick my ass for eternity.
The atmosphere here was great and the mini-game smooth, but I definitely struggled to collect the items once the ghost appeared and chased me relentlessly.
Yeah that ghost is definitely too defensive of their old junk! Thanks for playing!
I loved the art of this game! The animation is so pretty!
Like the other comments, I also wish it would take a bit longer for the ghost to appear. But, I really enjoyed it!
Thank you! Glad you had fun even with the mean ghost haha
I like the concept, but I think it would be nice to have some countermeasure against the ghost. It is difficult to get finding done with so little time. The music is fun, and the lock-picking game is excellent! Nice job!
Thanks! Glad you had fun. And yes, the ghost is way too possessive about their belongings. I'd play-test more in future jams haha
The ghost might be too fast when he first appears, he kinda always kills me while I read dialog.
Else i very like the ambience (mission, music, artstyle) and the randomness of rooms at each session! feel like a gameboy game to me !
Yeah I've had him spawn within seconds of starting a round. I've realized that play-testing is very important! Thanks for playing!
Great animations and art direction. I only wish I had more time before the ghost came to get me or I could escape it and go back to hunting. Good job and keep at it!
Thank you! The ghost is way too fast, which I only realized post-jam haha
Very polished game! Great job! I have a bad memory though, haha xD :(
Thanks! And don't feel bad, I added all the remember menus and sounds and stuff because I kept forgetting haha
very cool, I like the randomness of the locations so it has replayability, agree with the other commenters that it would be nice to hide from the ghost somehow (under bed, etc), but obviously in a jam game you only have so much time -- your core game seems very promising!
Thank you! Yeah I wish I had playtested more haha. These issues might revealed themselves sooner! Thanks for playin'!
I really liked exploring the mansion and the lock picking part!
At first I didn't understand how ghosts appeared, if it was something I've done or just after some time. Then I struggled a little to understand how to make them go away. It would have been nice to have places to hide or something to fight the ghost.
Overall, I did several games until I found all 3 items and I really enjoy playing Hoards of Horrors, congrats for your entry!
Edit : I forgot to mention about it, but be carefull with palette swap, it's technically more than 4 colours 👀
Edit 2 : My bad, see creators reply ^^
Hey, thanks for playing! Really impressive you managed 3 items in one round, that's pretty hard!! We would've liked to add more tells to the ghost and make it more fair, but we ran out of time to playtest at the end haha
Also, the color swap is allowed! Jam FAQ states "You can change your palette mid-game so long as the new palette is four colours."
Thanks for playing! And yeah, the ghost was way more agressive than originally planned! Glad you had fun!
Cool artwork, and nice gameplay definitely had a spookey vibe. I think the difficulty progression with the ghosts is a bit harsh but it's always a challenge to get that right in such short time. But the lock picking is so satisfying a really cool mechanic :)
Yeah the ghost definitely was a lil' too aggressive! More play testing would have save the poor guy haha. And thanks!
I had a lot of fun playing, maybe I am missing something but I interacted with all the items I saw and never found the ones listed in the beginning, also it felt like the ghost showed up too early into the level. Sometimes it would show up before I even interacted with anything.
OH NO! That shouldn't have happened... and yes, I've noticed the ghost gets a bit too mean too fast. Should have play tested more. Glad you had fun even if it's a lil' wonky haha
