It was fun to play. Enemy bullets are not easy to differentiate from your bullets and the best way to play is to fire as fast as possible so most of the time I got hit without understnading there was an enemy bullet in the middle. Also, at some point some enemies were so close and the moved so fast that it was almost impossible to dodge their bullets.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Making the enemy bullets different will be a good idea. I think with the limited color pallet I might make the bullets round instead of rectangles.

Well that was really boring. You can't really die in the game and almost every alien gets one-shotted. Almost, there are two aliens that are not, the annoying snake things that moves left and right and the final boss.

Also there is no reload too so you can spam the click or use an autoclicker and basically win the game.

Also I really don't get the other theme usage. Some aliens don't even look like plants or have something plant-related.

Fun to pick up and play

Super fun enemies sprites, great base to create a bunch of cool levels for a GB shmup (currently it lacks the engaging factor of hand crafted levels)

Adding gamepad support would be really cool to make it feel more like a GB title (using the mouse sure is practical here but takes a bit away from the experience)

Developer

Thanks for playing! Would like to make a full shmup one day this was a fun way to start learning.

I like the simplicity of this shmup, it's pretty fun to play! I don't really see any of the secondary theme present, however. There also probably should be more of an indication when the player or enemies have been hit by a bullet.

Thanks for playing! I'll have to think of a way to show a hit happened. Maybe a flashing sprite or little explosion effect.

Not sure if others found the same problem but ctrl triggers 'Save bookmark' in Chrome.

Fun game tho!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Thanks for the bug report. Will fix adjust the keys in a update after the game jam ends.

I like the shooting game. From the pictures, it happens when I use a joystick.

Developer

Thanks for the  bug report. I noticed the enemies can sometimes shoot projectiles too fast too. Will hopefully be an easy fix for a post jam update.

I guess you can't actually lose in this as I just kept respawning, and I died like 4-5 times. I like the simplicity. The art is really nice but I'd like the player and enemy bullets to be more distinct from eachother.

Nice work!

Thanks for playing! I noticed a  trend where many players will exit the game at game over. I definitely wanted everyone to see the last boss. Its hard to find the right balance of fun and difficulty and so far many of my games are easy.  After the judging I'll make a post jam update. Maybe the enemy bullets can be a different shape.

Nice game. You may want to add autofire/burst fire options. Having to mash the buttons to rapid fire is a bit tiring. Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Thats a good idea. I'll make a post jam update with auto fire.
