Nice idea here, love it. Flying with a flock feels fun and the AI behaviour is cool. Controls were a bit tricky at first, especially with the mouse sensitivity, but once I got used to it, it was enjoyable. The bird sounds add to the atmosphere. Would be great to see more levels and objectives in the future

Developer

Thanks; yeah, everybody's mouse is different, I really need to start putting mandatory control calibrators in these things. I'm glad you could still enjoy it.

I'm building an AI suite of sorts, with this project, and probably will continue it. Feel free to follow me if you want updates, mate.

Man I would have loved to see what you could’ve pulled off with the full 10 days! Well done. Love the way the other birds flock behind you randomly.

Developer(+1)

Thanks bro. I'm going to get back to it, I think there's real potential here. For the past couple of months I've been scrambling on a comic book I'm doing, but everyone seems to like guiding the flock around.

I think it might be cool to have birds get "picked up" when you fly close enough, and a good challenge might be to try and follow a path through a city while maintaining as many followers as possible.

Good work! I like the hand-drawn cover image. For the 3D art you could pick the hand drawn style to keep it low-poly but with the nice drawn art.

I would really like to play it after some polishing and more of your drawings in the game!

You got it! This is probably going to become a flock-vs-flock CRPG; I'm using it to fill out a basic AI system. It's good to see so many people having fun with this loop.

Yes, it’s definitly fun! I took some rounds. :)

If you like I’d be happy if you try my speed platformer.

Developer(+1)

I'll do that! Let me finish waking up, I set an alarm to remind me.

Reminder. Haha. Take your time. Have a great day!

It’s a cool idea, maybe you can make birds,  goal, and levels.

Controls are tricky and it’s confusing what to do, but the birds flocking looks interesting.

The mouse sensitivity is so high, I was just twirling through the sky until I figured out how to slow down haha. Inverse mouse was hard to navigate. Enemy AI is cool but if you fly through them they screech like you're about to die, very wild lol.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! When I have time I intend to add some options, everyone's mouse is different these days! Some audio settings would be nice too.

Being a bird is SO COOL! I loved divebombing trying to escape those pesky flying rats!

The SFX were a little on the loud side but overall it was a fun time! Unfortunate you weren't 100% during the jam but you can still make this into a lovely little game!

Good submission!

Interesting concept and the ai behavior was good. It's unfortunately that you couldn't build it as you wanted due being sick. However, I will recommend that you try to polish this game and focus on the design pillar so that you have a clear vision.

Playing this windowed makes your bird thirst for the dirt in the ground or the fly straight up into the air. There is no in between. Playing in full screen remedies it a bit but doesn't quench its thirst for that sweet sweet topsoil. The swarming behaviors are super cool and its quite fun to try and keep them off your tail. Its unfortune that you got hit with a status ailment during the jam cycle but its quite neat what you did get done.

Good Work!

I agree, control calibration is a necessity! That said, I took my Heal Potion and am ready to go with it.

I don't know if I was controlling the bird or not, I try to get to the green ring but then it would just fall down. Gald you are feeling better.

Developer

The bird bros will knock you off course, if you let them.

I wasn't able to master the controls, but I like the concept, aesthetic and the bird sounds.
Good job!

Not one for me I'm afraid, I have issues with FPS type games and I think this had the same effect, something to do with the mouse/camera movement. However I think this could be made into something, needs more variety and enemies to make it more than just the loops flying. Good work.

Cool bird behaviour, could make a fun interactive toy if you expanded and polished

Developer(+1)

You know, I'm probably going to do that. I'm useless with a fever, but that flock has real potential!

I'm thinking about possibly expanding it into a basic pigeon CRPG where you pick up other birds by getting close to them, and try and fight some kind of "boss" by flocking into it.

I don't think I was ever able to die, and I could loops back through the rings to keep destroying birds.

Developer

There's no real death condition; I just gave people the ability to control a flock of birds and figured it was already kind of fun.

I may expand on it in the future, though. If I give it a sturdier state machine, for both individual birds and a flock, I could pretty easily use this mechanic for an exotic CRPG.
