Nice game and love the atmosphere & story, very fun!
The atmosphere is interesting and even slightly unsettling. I think it actually works really well for what I think you're trying to go for. I think you did a really nice job on this game!
This is a great game, I love the creativity in it! The art is looking awesome!
Thanks so much, I'll be sure to tell my wife as she was our artist lol.
Very FUN and UNIQUE idea on this game! AWESOME WORK!!! GREAT ART!!! NICE MECHANICS!!! This was a fun challenging game. Loved it.
Thanks, that means a lot to the team.
Most of our members were entirely new to jams, and the rest only had one under their belts before this lol
Really fun and fresh take on a tower defense! As one who works retail as my day job, also highly relatable lol
Biggest issue I had, was it took a few tries to realize how to place turrets. Initially I thought it was super bugged because since the mouse controlled the camera I thought I had to walk up to the placement areas, not click them. When trying to click, the camera movement made it really hard to control. Once I got used to it, it was pretty straight forward. I'd suggest maybe a "hold right mouse to move camera" type control.
Overall though, I loved the whole 80s vibe and the overall game play once I got it figured out though. Will definitely be playing it some more. If your team chooses to continue development I'll be looking forward to seeing it's progression! :)
Thank you, I used to work retail for 7 years lol.
Black Friday and the holiday season hit different when you're a current/former retail employee haha.
I laughed when I realized I was supposed to hit the costumers, lol. I love the style and the music of the game. However, is there a win condition? Clients stopped coming but nothing happened? Also there are no collisions on the wall ^^
Fun game, great job!
I appreciate the kind feedback.
Sadly, hitting customers can cause a soft lock bug so the game may not end correctly if you use the Last Stand the way it was intended lol.
A really fun concept! Although a second wave never came and never managed to build more than a couple of toaster turrets. Btw, there are no colliders for the walls, I could walk right through them!
Hey sorry you got soft locked, it seems that melee killing monsters locks the game sometimes.
It's true, the walls are imaginary lol, I had planned for them to have collision but then there were concerns with the layout where larger bosses might get stuck so due to time constraints we played it safe and left them without collision.
I gave it a second try after I learned about the melee attack bug and it worked perfectly. I got to the end of the game, and had fun killing all the customers in my lawnmower/microwave store. I wish the camera were a little less disorienting, but I had a good time with this game! Good work!
The death sound is hilarious! It's satisfying to whack customers over the head. Very cathartic! Nice job!
good job but I cant find find the last person
Sorry, it would seem our soft-lock bug we thought we fixed wasn't fixed. :(
But thank you for playing and leaving feedback nonetheless!
It is very good good job and good luck
I got stuck after the first wave on the first two tries, before checking other comments and learning that melee attacks might be causing the issue. I can confirm for me that avoiding melee against anyone (scooter or otherwise) solved the issue.
A good concept which is pretty well executed! The camera is stuck in an overhead view which I don't feel is intended. The game page lists that it can be changed but I had no luck with that. (I also couldn't jump with space, so I think possibly some things are always set to what's intended as build mode.)
This reminds me of Orcs Must Die which is a game I really enjoyed! If you can solve the melee softlocks and the camera issues I'd definitely like to play it again. :)
Thank you for the kind words!
The camera and jump mentions in the description are actually an accidental inclusion from a previous build before we cut the two camera system. The current camera was an attempted compromise between the two cameras to finish in time lol.
In retrospect, I should have used the building camera instead.
Sorry, I'll edit the description to avoid misleading players, thank you for pointing it out.
I was definitely thinking about Orcs Must Die and Dungeon Defenders when we designed this one haha.
I liked the idea behind the game, and after polishing I think it will become a lot better. Good Job!
Sometimes the waves stop forever. I liked the theme though very nice take.
Thanks for the feedback, that's worrying lol.
We had a game-breaking soft lock if you melee killed a scooter until the due-day (which is now fixed, I think), so I'm curious about how to replicate if you have any insight. Thanks!
I played again and the waves lock when I melee like you said. I also suggest removing the camera turning when the player turns since we can move the camera with the mouse also.
I managed to beat it without melee so all good :)
Thanks for the suggestions, and for sticking with it lol.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I agree the camera is disorienting, it was essentially a compromise between our original two cameras due to time constraints, and it could have used more time in the oven lol.
The black friday theme is amusing. And funny to use toaster as a turret. The camera controls is very disorienting so made it hard to play much of the game and I had to ALT+F4 to quit out of the game cuz it was hard to get to the menu to pause the game.
Great choice of theme; most people went for zombies or war (which is fine), but it's always nice to see more creative takes on the theme.
I liked everything, but just like my game XD, I feel that the camera is too volatile, which makes me dizzy at times.
