Reminds me of the good ol' pc adventure games like Ecstatica and even the later Blair Witch games. Could of used some music and some other stuff but nice concept.

Developer

I have never heard of those games, gonna check them out.

3d  visual novel I guess . Animations looked very funny. PS1 Graphics has always been 5/5 for me.... coughs in potato pc.

Like others are saying. The aesthetic is really cool -- the trippy warping shader(?) of the skins felt like we're a little drunk after a party. In addition, the low poly with figures painted on plus the park assets gave it a Sims1 look. I was a little worried what I was getting into with the cover... it was looking more kink than might be appropriate. Nope, just knife stabby murder!

It was a good short maze puzzle for a game jam. I think for being smart enough to go back to the party is smart enough that it's game over, I win!

Nice work. 👍

I forgot to check. Sometimes. The directions buttons were always misoriented, but sometimes all 4 would work, sometimes only 3 or 2. Was that by design 'cuz our poor could-be-victim is limping?

Well when the player rotates in idle, it actually plays an animation that rotates with root motion. It is the only way I found in Unity that rotate and plays the animation with precision. I found that even famous games like Code Veronica don't do that they only rotate the player with no animation, and other games use a crappy one. This is where I believe someone might think it feels clunky because when you press forward I disable the root motion. Also I have placed some cameras really "weird" because I didn't want the player to see the correct routes too soon.

Other than that I haven't found any problems with the controls.

I was planning to also add a short burst of run with a "Pain threshold" that acted like stamina. The controller feels much smoother with the speed but it was ridiculously easy to beat the game because I made the mistake of making the park relatively small. Modeling environments is such a chore, it takes humongous amounts of time and I have a newfound respect for level designers!

Haha that was really funny! Great sense of style! Just curious, what makes the character textures be all wobbly/glitchy like that? I don't even know what you call that, it's like the image position isn't moving but the model underneath is? Cool effect!

Oh shit I forgot to add it to the free resources, its a psx shader for URP I found on the Internet. https://github.com/Kodrin/URP-PSX

The effect is called vertex jitter which is a feature playstation 1 had. This shader has also some other features which give it model a retro look.

ohhh I see! That’s so cool, thanks!

As a fan of the classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill games, I loved the way you implemented the theme. The gameplay is very fun and enjoyable!

Developer

I am glad you liked it.

I like the combination of the ps1 visuals and fixed camera angles, very nostalgic!

Developer

Thanks!

Funny story and fun game, I kind of liked the changing camera angles while playing. Good job on it!

Developer

Thanks, it took a good chunk of time to adjust angles.

Is there a hint for 3D glasses in there? I liked the animations and well done bringing 3d models in unity. I am missing the audio part though.

Developer

3d glasses? No its just a psx shader with vertex jitter to give a retro feeling and a little bloom. Audio is minimal I didn't have time to bring more into the game.

Liked the style, not much to do as you can only walk but it doesnt feel boring/stretched as the lenght is nice. Cool intro and models !

Thanks for the feedback!

the cameras can be improved a little where they focus on the player. Love the art-style of the game. reminds me of those ps1 and ps2 games, brings back the old memories. Also great animations, the walking of the player, the clownun dancing. I can watch them all day and still laugh. they are extremely funny.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

That nun dancing is seriously a nice touch. Love that. I personally feel a point and click mechanic for movement might feel better. Great game, well done!

The controls could use some work. I love the graphics, they're aesthetically pleasing. The nun emoting on death made me laugh,  great work!

Hey there thanks for checking my entry. I was planning to add a small stamina boost where you can run with a UI bar , but a nasty race condition are my time and I had to model things. I will check your entry.

I think the visuals are the strongest point in this game. I’d wished for more stuff to do to experience those visuals though.

I feel like you might’ve similar issues as I did with my game. I find it’s a lot easier to just do some kind of system based gamplay like a tower defense and get a lot of playtime out of it. On the other hand, I’d say this game is more of an “experience” or an adventure, and I find it personally difficult to come up with stuff for the player to do. It seems like you have to do a lot more to create actual meaning in the game and have content for the player to explore. You did pretty well with a whole story bit and interaction between distinct characters imo, that was great. Maybe you could have gone a step further and added something simple like gates and keys? You know, block the player and make the struggle a little before getting to the exit? Either way, all of that obviously takes time which I’m unsure if you had.

Also. the walking style reminded me of Jade Cocoon lol (but I’m sure older games used it too that I haven’t played)

I was planning to give the player a pepper spray and the ability to sneak and run and make the park a lot bigger and have some more harmless Clownuns walking around as it is stated that it is halloween and there are many fans dressing like the Clownun. All the time though went into modelling the characters, the park and the cutscenes. Cutscenes are a huge PITA for me because I haven't figure out how Unity's Timeline is supposed to be used effectively with its features.
Also got a nasty bug that ate one day to figure it out :(.
Thanks for checking my entry!

I mean, the cutscene were great. I’m sure the experience will help you figure it out more in the future.
