Interesting take on the theme! Although there were a few bowling pin games, I like the 3d perspective for this one.

The transitions between each try was also very cool!

My only comment would be, it was slightly difficult to move diagonally, and the risk of getting hit by bowling balls is too high. I stuck to dodging the balls laterally. But i had a lot of fun doing so!

Solid entry!

Developer

Thank you for playing and reviewing! I think I made it too difficult as well, so for the next game jams I'll keep that in mind so people can have longer runs than ~30 seconds :D

Hi @HxdDev. I am having some trouble while running the web version of this game. Could you kindly also upload a Windows executable of the game on the submission page, if possible?

Developer(+1)

Hello, I added Windows executable just for you :)

Just tested this and thanks for uploading the windows build version of the game. Really nice graphics and feel, especially those ambient environmental sounds. A great twist on the 9 pin bowling. My highest score was 26 seconds. Simple controls and nicely paced mechanics. I see a lot of potential in this for instance you can add more thematic sets with matching pins , balls and billboards in the arena when the player has survived for a given time like 60 seconds of survival unlocks the Shopping Arena, or 90 seconds of survival unlocks the Arcade arena etc. Nice gameplay that encourages you to comeback and survive for a little longer. Keep up the good work :)

[Note: The web version was giving a runtime error in Chrome version 125.0.6422.142, but is working fine now after clearing the cache and restarting that. In the Firefox  browser its working fine and the windows build version is working fine as well]

I like the game, just i had trouble moving forwarded to get the lights for more time. But evading bowling balls is nice :D

Developer

Thank you for playing and the review! Through these comments I've realized that the movement could have been better, but as I never have done movement like that it was all I could come up with in that time frame.

Submitted

This is so much fun! I wish I could use the arrows though. The pin animation is very well done too while it moves

Submitted

This is fun. I'm terrible at it... but I could also see myself getting addicted until I perfected it. Good work!

Developer

Thank you! I think  movement in diagonals make it harder to master, but I had no choice otherwise movement wouldn't make sense.

I really liked the light and sound effects. Great ambience overall, I enjoyed it!

Developer

Thank you for playing! For lights I just tried to remember how the bowling alley I go to looks like and tried to copy that vibe.

Submitted

A+!

Great game! Perfect scope for a jam to let you polish the look and feel. The music had a great vibe for a bowling alley, and switching the camera around to the pin's perspective was a great way to "show, rather than tell," what was going on.
Much respect for a job well done.

Developer

Thank you very much! It was my first time working with multiple cameras so I'm happy that it worked out :)

very original idea.  i can see how it could become very addicting!  great job

Developer

Thank you! I hope someone will have 1000 hours in this game someday ! :D

Simple to understand and fun to play! Visuals and sounds were nice. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! For music I just youtubed copyright free bowling background sound and music :D

Loved the idea. The visuals looks good and it has a good curve of difficulty. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Out of visuals I'm most proud of the pin movement animation as I had no idea how to animate it :D

Submitted

Great idea! Now I know what it is to be that one pin still standing. When bowling  I'm going to be happy  I don't get that last pin. Thank you!

Developer

Thanks for the nice comment! I think I'll do the same thing when bowling to make myself feel better :D

Submitted

I like this one and it is enjoyable!!

Good luck

Developer

Thank you very much!

Submitted

Oh nice! The game is simple, but you gave it enough polish and challenge to make up for it.

Developer

Thank you, I was focusing on making a simple game as I did it alone, but for my next game jam I hope to find extra help :)

High five fellow bowling game creator!

Those curve balls are hard to dodge! I was terrible at the game  🤣 I like how you incentivised moving forward, away from the back row. Good job on the submission!

Developer

Thank you! To be honest, I was surprised how many people thought of bowling :D

After finishing the game I've realized it's too hard, but I'm still happy that I can see progress in my game development capabilities. At start I didn't even think of adding glowing circles that give extra time, but I realized if I don't add something players could just stay in last row and it would defeat the purpose of other rows.

Submitted

And I thought I was bad at bowling when I'm on the other end of the lane! My best legitimate score is 59 seconds (even though the 'best' score seems to be whichever your last score is.) Moving forward and back is difficult to get the hang of, I was always getting lured in by the siren's call of those glowing rings.

But then I found out you don't actually run out of time, and got this score!

Quite fun to play, with good vibes! I really liked the animation of the pin when it jumps positions. :)

Developer(+1)

Damn, you are right! I forgot to add game over logic for when the time runs out and highest score logic :D Thankfully the game is still somewhat playable even with these two blunders from my end. The animation took me like an hour because I had to think "how would a pin even move and how do you make an animation for a pin".

Thank you for playing, I appreciate the time you've spent !

Submitted

Really like this idea, and it plays very nice! The controls are pretty difficult to get good at, but it is still a very nice experience!

Developer

Thank you! I agree about the controls, they could be better, but I'm happy about how they turned out given the fact that I've never made a game with predetermined movement positions in every direction :)

Submitted

I like your pun on the title XD

Its an interesting and fun idea haha.

The up and down movement doesn't seems responsive though. Sometime it works, sometime it don't.

Developer

Thanks, I had to google bowling lingo to come up with something :D Regards to the movement I thought people will mention movement in diagonals as to me it could have been better, but as this was first time I tried to do movement like this, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :)

Submitted

This is great! I'm really cracking up over how many bowling games there are. You did awesome with yours!

The movement controls felt really good, and the sound effects/music worked really well together.

You also nailed having a ball that curves while it goes down the alley! I tried so hard to add a curve ball to mine but I just couldn't get it working properly. But you got it just right!

Awesome job!

Developer

Thank you very much ! I'm surprised as well about amount of bowling games, I thought I was being original when I made the game, but it seems there was bunch of us with similar ideas :D The curve for the balls was a bit tricky, I tried multiple times, for me Bezier curve did the trick.

Submitted

Nice use of the last stand theme! I liked it very much, though I wasn't spared at the end :)

Developer

Yeah,  no one leaves alive :D I like to imagine that some one got so pissed that they just kept throwing the bowling balls until they got the last pin. Thank you for playing !

Submitted

There seems to be a few bowling games this time around, and yours is one of the most difficult, but it looks very good and has excellent mechanics, nicely done.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I'm quite happy how the mechanics turned out. I've never done anything like this before so your comment makes me happy :)
