Good job! I love the art style and I was laughing when that opening scene happened, love when developers do something goofy like that (at least I hope it was meant to be goofy :D).

A nice retro feel to this! The intro was impressive in its own way, but the finale blew me away! And the ship!
I'm not sure if there's a smarter way to fight the aliens, I opted for a war of attrition where I let them attack me while I burnt them to a crisp.
Good job on what you got done within the time limit! :)
Wow really impressive cut scenes and visuals! The opening cut scene felt like the opening of like a classic Call of Duty game where you get thrown into the intense action from the get-go and I enjoyed that. The voice lines during that part were really memorable. Also, the cut scene with the mothership blowing up was really well executed! Music fit the vibe nicely and I liked the flame thrower sound effect.
The only critique I'll add (but I know you were primarily focused on the cut scenes and other aspects) was I would like a visual/audio indication that I was damaging the cool looking alien enemies. Perhaps something like a flame effect on the model while it is taking damage? That's just something to consider for a later version and for the time of the game jam this was a very impressive feat!
Great work!
Thank you so much, Eric! You've made me very happy while I was reading your review. This made me very excited to keep working on this game to get to a version of what I've really wanted the game to be.
The game really needed a visual and audio indicator for both the player and the alien. I did make the audio for the alien, but the clock was ticking and I couldn't add it to the game in time. I've also made a intro cutscene with the name of the game, but forgot to add that scene when making the build of the game. But, these are things that I will work for future updates after the jame is done.
Again, thank you for playing the game and for the review.
I love love love the art style. It's very appealing and fits your genre extremely well. Also that was an amazing sounding alien voice at the beginning. I just love when a game leans into an aesthetic and commits to it and you really nailed it.
Gameplay wise everything was feeling great and I was getting into it! I blew up the Mothership and enjoyed your excellent cutscene!
It sounds like you have ideas for this project beyond the jam and I would love to see where you take this one in the future!
Awesome job!
Hello andrew! I really aprecciate the review, thank you so much. I had fun learning and making the voice lines, and cutscenes, I'm really glade that you liked it. I do have more ideas to improve the game after the game jam is done, hopefully in the future you can play the "true game idea" that I had in mind. :D
Have a great day!
