Pixel art works looks great. One quick fix I would recommend is centring the camera on the player. Also the attack hit box or animation does not work sometime. But overall, pretty good game.

Nice work. The idea is cool.
For me, you should just adjust the blocking feature. Because when you block, you can still move and then make the enemies follow you to a trap, that will kill they for you.
Wow for first game and you did all the graphics is impressive. I wish I could do that. Just handling the programming was already challenging for me.

I really like the deal with the reaper and how the character is stuck in purgatory until he collects the souls. Great work there!

The controls were responsive but they didn't quit seem to line up with the animations, so for smoother gameplay I'd say that is one of the priorities to get working on :D
The pixelart was pretty good for someone who's new to it, a lot better than I've seen in games over the years (and a lot better than I do myself too haha). Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll be great at it in no-time, it definitely looks like you've got an eye for detail when it comes to graphics!
The aesthetics were nice and did make the game feel dark, which was - I assume - your intention, good job!

Yes the Animation is one of my highest priorities on my looong todo :D.
Yes i want to continue on the game after the jams end.
Want to implement the "should have" features of the game.(Buyable Gear, different enemies,...) and neccessary bugfixes like the Controlls and the Animation not feels as smooth.

Nice pixel art, keep practicing! Fun fact, I was in the middle of two skeletons and when they attacked, they killed each other (I hate it when in other games enemies don't hurt each other)
This was a massive undertaking. It's amazing you attempted something like this. And I did play all the way up to level 9. I don't know if I was doing something wrong but progression felt like it was taking forever. So maybe balancing the game to scale faster would be cool. I found myself at level 4 feeling like I hadn't made any progress. There were a handful of glitches too. But the art style, the animations. They were all really great!

I found it hard to play which was a shame because it presented very nicely and the story got me excited.

What I saw that I am often guilty of that could help improve your game is the different pixel resolution characters, UI, BG etc. are all different it felt quite jarring and was a good lesson for me - so thank you for that :)

Hey thank you so much for playing and rating. No I think its not possible to gather the 1mil souls yet. I didn't manage to implement more different enemies. Its planed to add stronger enemies who will drop more souls . And also the possibility to buy gear and upgrade your avatar to gather souls faster.
Thank you for your advice with the different resolution. I didn't noticed that.
