You commented and rated my game, so figured I owed you one.

Wow, nice game you have here. You did a great job with the visuals, and especially the music.

I do have a few issues though, mainly that, at least for me, the player character moves to quickly. Also, moving up to go up, and down to go down, may seem obvious, but to whoever has played a game where a vehicle is in the air will have a hard time adjusting.

Other than that, great job.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful feedback. Stoked to read you enjoyed the audio/visuals. It seems there is consensus among players that my controls need some tweaking. As for the speed value of the player that is something easy to adjust ( Ė¶Ė†į—œĖ†Ėµ ) It is always fun to see how a game project can be improved upon.

Graphics and effects are awesome in this! Controls felt strange, like inverse or something, but itā€™s literally just left to turn left, so not sure why that felt so hard to get down. It was a little hard to figure out where in space the bolts were, which made grabbing them a bit difficult as they spread out more. Really liked the music! Overall great job!

Thank you for giving Spark Rush a play. I was happy to see you open sourced your game too, I think it is good for the gamedev community when there are open source projects to explore. So glad you enjoyed the music ā™«ā‹†ļ½”ā™Ŗ ā‚ŠĖšā™¬ ļ¾Ÿ.

I like the controls. They make the game unique. The difficulty is logical and fair. Very challenging

Developer

I am so happy to read you feel this way šŸ˜ Thank you for playing Spark Rush.

I think it has good illumination... but  the controls, and gameplay doesn't feel very good...

Developer

Thank you for giving it a play, i am so happy to read you enjoy the illumination. I ran into a bug where my scenes would be completely dark because i forgot to bake the lightning, so it was an obstacle to overcome. As for the controls, many other players have ran into difficulty too, I am sorry the 3D player controller is not so easy. The gameplay feel can be influenced by a variety of factors, i am aiming to learn how to add scene transitions, more smoothing, and additional reactive game objects.

An interesting look at the topic. I liked the idea of collecting energy on a sphere and so on. It seems to me that the current management is not very suitable for such tasks. I would think about the mechanics that brings the idea of smooth sliding on the sphere and so on to the absolute. Something that allows you not to constantly press the keys, but to observe the beautiful sliding lines in space

Thank you so much for giving Spark Rush a try. I am so happy to read you enjoy the expanding spark pattern. This was created by using some open source 2D code that i converted into a 3D arrangement. if you would like to explore how some of it functions in a more beautiful way i have a jellyfish simulator that is more relaxing. But i will admit i found it very difficult to get absolute control over my game object spawner for the power sparks and even those jellyfish. They will have movements that i did not plan for, and i could only incorporate one spawner and it would always be at 0,0,0 transform. Spark Rush is open source if you have Unity C# experience more than welcome to look into the code. Hope this information helps.

Good

Developer

Thanks for playing! Happy you got to play Spark Rush. I had tried out your new bugless "Dont Be A Creep" game and found it to be a really intriguing concept. I like how you used the original  instagram app logo. and the special effects for the noise filter was awesome.

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay is all about flying around and collect the object as much as possible it seems.
For me the controls are a little difficult at first but in the end, I could finish the game.
There aren't so much to the gameplay.
But the  generated assets do help make the game look better.

Developer

Thank you for your awesome feedback.
The controls are certainly a difficult aspect of the game, I am going to revise my C# scripts and learn ways i can improve upon whats there.
Brings me joy that you finished the game, if i were to make it longer maybe i would add enemies that would push the player and make it more difficult to collect power sparks.
You are correct in your analysis of Spark Rush. I am happy to read that you felt the generated assets improved the visuals of Spark Rush. I did do my best to augment some of the models by using shader materials made by open brush VR pack.

Really nice idea of a game!

Developer

Thank you for playing ā¤ļø and for your kind comment.

If you don't mind can you try my game too? I would really appreciated šŸ‘

I gave your game a play, I was not able to get as far as I would have liked while exploring the level. Once i picked up the fuel canister I was not sure what to do with it? I really enjoyed your pixel art and animated backgrounds

Nice movement and graphics. Couldn't figure out what was the goal.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, it was tough to make a player controller for 3d space. Your mission in Spark Rush is to gather as many power sparks as possible within a tight 60-second window to unlock the next level & make it on the leaderboards.

unlock level 2= 400 powerāš”sparks

unlock level 3= 500 powerāš”sparks

unlock credits= 600 powerāš”sparks

Loved the background. I agree with other comments. Looks great but the controls are difficult. Itā€™s also difficult to see where you are in the depth, I thought Iā€™d collect some spark but then they were not collected until I moved around.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words. Coming up with background skyboxes was a fun challenge for me as was arranging the different 3D models around the scene. Yes unfortunately i am new to 3d games and still working out bugs in my character controller C# script. But i am so happy to read what you have experienced with the controls. it really drives me to make things better. I am sorry that the sense of depth feels off in spark rush, with 3d games its important to have a camera system that helps the player see their surroundings.

Submitted(+1)

nice graphics. Is bit difficult to move, but I like it

Developer

Thank you, it can be fun putting a 3D game scene together. I am trying to come up with ways to better manage the controls, but i am so happy to read you like Spark Rush āš”ļø

Very cool environment.
The player controls were a bit tricky to grasp, but I could just be bad at it. lol

Developer

Thanks, it was fun creating the levels especially getting to experiment with different materials. Still new to making 3D games and am still searching for what types of controls will work best. So happy you gave Spark Rush a try šŸ˜„

Overall a fun game, but the controls were very confusing.

Developer

Thanks for the time to make this game :)

The visuals remind me of earlier 3d games where thereā€™s a lot of things going on, I did appreciate it became apparent here.

Your controls choice made it a bit hard to play the game, W is usual a go forward, not up. I was repeatedly intending to move forward only to go up and mess any chance of taking power.

The collision checks are also a bit frustrating. In the beginning when you rush to the joined bolts and go out of it with only 100 points makes it feel not so good.

Developer(+1)

Im so happy to read your comment, Thank you for playing and giving it a chance.
I am a big fan of early playstation games like crash bandicoot and spyro

Am sorry about the controls, i didnt plan for individuals to use "WASD" for player movement, although customary for most PC games. I will plan better for controls in future projects.

For the skill curve to increase over time i planned on the player rushing towards the sparks in order to get a time based collection advantage. This way the longer the player waits the more disbursed the power sparks will be. Essentially the longer one waits the more difficult it is to grab or collide with the collectable. But i can understand how it can also be frustrating when trying to get points.

the gameplay is a bit complicated, but i enjoy the music so muchšŸ”„

Developer(+1)

Thanks I will admit it is not the simplest game concept šŸ˜… However coming up with music tracks was one of my favorite aspects of this project. There are around 9 different music tracks, aimed to get around 3-4 for each level biome. Then made  C# script so music will be selected from a list of tracks randomly at the start of a scene.

Submitted(+1)

The game is fun, good job!

Visuals are excellent, dig the style. At first it was a bit confusing what I'm supposed to do but I figured out it quickly.

I liked the music.

The control scheme is is a bit strange, the - i think - third level was too hard for me, couldn't get 600 points.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind feedback, with the third level and not unlocking it by getting 600 points you will only miss out on seeing the End Credits. so happy you got to play all 3 levels. There are over 9 different audio tracks that play randomly. Each level biome has 3-4 different music tracks. The controls are tough to master,  may need some tweaking but overall feel it gets the 3D movement job done.

Submitted(+1)

Shaders looking good, movement in 3D space is hard but I guess it should be, maybe mouse rotation would be better. I did very low scores :) because I am impatient to learn movements. Music is really good.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, i ended up using google's Tilt brush ( now open brush) shader pack from the SDK. After some modifications they are web GL compatible. Its open source if youd ever like to use any materials or shaders found within Spark Rush.

GREAT GAME!!

Developer

Thank you ā¤ļø I really enjoyed your game too, so amazed at how  you got those special effects.

Submitted(+1)

Got the 2nd best score. Graphics are sick love the character and visuals. the strange control scheme adds to the challenge

Developer(+1)

Great job making the leaderboard! I tried your game its very impressive what you have done graphically in 3D

Submitted(+1)

Cool

Developer

Thanks for playing. I found your mouse explosion game to but fun too, even though some people are afraid of a mouse i think they are kind of cute.
