Unfortunately the game does not work on Firefox and Mac.

Developer

Sorry about that. Seems to be a common problem with Godot games.

If you're up for it, you can try Safari, or better yet, grab the downloadable version. The itch.io app makes it pretty easy to manage games, just like Steam. Even on Safari, it'll crash after a while, so the download is the best choice.

I am a big fan of 8-bit games, thank you submit such a good one. The action and story is great, and I noticed that jump + attack maybe have special animation? The feeling of impact is also good.

Waiting for further development and update!

Great job!

Really love the art style and the 8-bit sound track! The tutorial was really well done and the overall feel of the game is great. I had some trouble with the controls but still had a lot of fun

The game looks great! We love the art style you have

Very slick pixel art platformer - was particularly fond of the user interface and level transitions. Movement felt pretty good, and I like how aerial attacks incorporated a sort of dash that you could mix up your movement with. Constructing your own map was also a neat addition, though at first it was a bit unexpected coming out of the platforming tutorial that came before it - I think leading up with the fact that you're building out your own path to the finish would clear that up on the first go around. All-in-all a very polished and fun entry, good job!

Super fun! And the visuals work great with the audio to make a pretty clear vibe. I think the gameplay was too fast and wound up very spammy or floaty to me, but still had a good time building and playing through the levels

I like the idea of building your own metroidvania map.

The control is very slippery, maybe try to change movement speed during different attack animation.

The art is a bit messy. Could be a good idea to add outline to characters to make them stand out more from the background.

To me the controls are are a bit strange. Maybe because i'm left handed. But with other platformers I don't have issues. It also took a little while to figure out about the containers to get from start to finish. :) Maybe give it a bit of a highlight at the start.
But other than that. It's a nice game.

Well done

Thanks for playing!

We might have made the instructions overly confusing. You can play with WASD + comma and period, or Arrow Keys + Z and X. I hoped that would work for lefties and righties.

Good callout about the shipping container stacking levels. We never provided proper tutorials for that.

Very cool idea! The combat was a little finicky here and there but overall playable. I loved being able to kick around all the cans, that was a great touch. Great job!

WOW! A truly original idea!

The variety of mechanics is cool.

I love kicking soda cans!

Fantastic Idea! I had fun playing it but I don’t get the flow with the combat. I’ll give it more tries, but overall good job!

Developer(+1)

Fair enough. For me the combat felt better after I started trying to clear rooms quickly and realized that the descending kick produced the best dps in most situations. Chaining dash and double jump to fly endlessly helped a lot too. Once you're in the air most of the time, descending kick is your friend.

Cool but no mobile support 😕

Developer(+1)

Do many jam games have mobile support?

Submitted

No but to be the best👍👍👍

Update: I've uploaded a post-jam version which fixes the game-breaking door backtracking bug. Players are now required to press F to pass through a door.

The html build seems a little more reliable with Godot 4.2 in Compatibility mode, but it still crashes sometimes. So the downloadable files are still your best bet.

Of course, if you prefer to play the jam-version, it's still available. Look for the files marked "release" instead of "post-jam"

Thanks for playing!

Really cool concept for a game, I’m impressed with the artwork!

Pretty cool beat 'em up. I liked the attack animations especially, they all had the right amount of oomph, both players and enemies. Building the level layout was an unexpected twist, nice one. I fumbled around with the doors a bit, trying to make a jump or something and accidentally entering the previous room, maybe there's a better solution there. Nice game, it made me want to make my own beat 'em up someday!

I'm impressed with how much content/mechanics you made into the game! I loved the "tetris" system of building your own way throughout the level. I had a fun experience.

However, I faced a few issues with the web build, however, the Mac binary worked flawlessly.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks. Many people are saying the web build isn't working for them. Hopefully they'll try the download versions, like you did.
