Lovely intro, but I would have loved a skip button. I had to watch the intro twice since the mouse controls were not working for me in Firefox. Tried in Chrome and there it was working. I got shrunk down and the scene looks lovely, but there were no enemies to shoot for me? I went to the plants and the house but no enemies spawned, though the music did indicate a battle. The movement was also fairly slow in Chrome, but aiming, shooting and jumping all worked fine.
Also having voice acting in a game jam game means high scores for audio either way ;P
Great job !
Hey thanks! Yeah we implemented the intro video the day before submissions closed and quickly realized a skip button was important haha, as well as directing the player towards the game area rather than the garden.
This is hilarious! I loved the intro and especially the artstyle of it! Also, really funny background story :D The game itself was good as well , just the movement felt a bit slippery and sometimes hard to navigate, but besides that nice job!
Fun gameplay, good voice acting, the graphics are good and the theme interpretation if very fitting, good job!
the idea is super fun
Super fun, great premise for a game and it fit the theme well!
Really amaze to see what people can made together within a month!
It's me being nitpicky, but I would really liked a voice-acted intro with a subtitles as I was not native in English. Otherwise the voice and illustration on the intro was perfect. Great job!
We did have the idea to add text in the art. We also had space for that. But not the time to add it.
Thank you for your comment?
Dang it, I did the audio and actually I wanted subtitles as well! Both for non-native English speakers as well as hearing impaired people, but that entire sequence was all done with one day before submission and there wasn't time. Thanks for the input, next time I will make that a priority!
Very nice into and voice work! Everything graphically matched and great way of incorporating the theme. A few minor hiccups that have been mentioned by others. Great job and hopefully you continue with the project!
Really love the theme and premise of the game. As others mentioned, I also had difficulty with movement - walljumping was inconsistent and the sensitivity was too high (but you know this). If you continue fleshing this out and polishing it after the jam I think you have a great game on your hands.
Great job!
Love the idea and the intro. The gameplay is rather difficult. given the amount of jumping to close walls it might have been better to have a 3rd person camera.
well done anyways!
Super fun and nicely put together. Well done.
If I have to nitpick, I might have liked slightly more generous hitboxes on the bugs, and a bit of coyote time for jumping off ledges.
The level design and modelling was fantastic. The premise was great. Loved it.
Ah so sad, the game crashes when trying to shrink in the greenhouse x( I tried the browser version, maybe it's just this one. Or maybe it's just me x)
Edit: I'm trying the downloaded version, and it works :) I'll give you my feedback after playing it!
Edit2:
So I had a lot of issues moving. When jumping and wall jumping, it didn't always responded (which made the jump from books to plant pot very hard lol).
Also, I think the gun clipping into walls disturbed me. It made me feel I'm not where I am (don't know if it makes sense). You can render the gun with another camera and always place if in front of everyting. This way, the gun will always be in front of objects and the problem will be solved :)
Finally, once I was shrinked, I didn't understand where to go. At first, I leaved the cabin to see if there was insects outside in the garden. Then I came back and finally saw the wood plank to climb. Maybe some hints on where to go could fix this problem. Think like Mirror's Edge: everything is white except locations to go which are red. You could use the same approach in your game
Overall, it's fun. The theme is well used, congrats :)
Thank you for your feedback, I will ask the devs to fix the gunclip, it was already on the list but got missed out on for some reason :)
Once you shrink, there is a real big arrow above your head stuck with a pushpin. But maybe it's places to high.
Will see what we can do about that.
Thank you.
ah I didn't see the arrow, maybe it didn't appear for me (I would have noticed it otherwise, I think haha)
I really enjoyed this take on the theme and the intro cinematic, but as others have already stated, the gameplay was a but rough on the edges. There was a lot of clipping into objects, I had performance issues even with the installed version of the game. Really cool concept though!
The concept is really fun and the humor is witty, I like the little details and easter eggs, like when you try interacting with the door. The audio was glitching out pretty badly for me, I don't know if that's an issue with my laptop or the web build, and the map feels pretty big and empty. It's not too often that you see a game jam submission with voice acting though. Overall it's a really charming game full of personality that has some great potential. GG!
Yay! Another FPS! I feel like we're all in a little club within this jam somehow.
My favorite part of this was by far the intro cinematic, I found the art, voiceover, and tongue-in-cheek story all to be absolutely charming. As others have pointed out, the gameplay and level design needs a little work (I also wandered in the garden for so long my tea went cold), but you guys won me over with pure charm anyhow. :)
Thank you for your kindwords, our programming department is considering some minor changes in regards to the gameplay, due to the feedback from the community. So again thank you.
I'd like to echo what other people have said, the aesthetic is great, both the art and SFX/Music work well together. It's nice that you got some good voice acting in their. Your interpretation of the theme is cool too.
However, the Gameplay needs work. There were quite a lot of bugs (e.g. clipping through objects), and I personally went outside as soon as I scaled down, completely missing the tutorial.
Well done for submitting the game! It just needs more polish.
I ended up with mixed feelings on this game. It was a mixture of elements I absolutely loved, but a lot of rough elements I had to work through. The art and story were both quality and hilarious. The worlds also looked great. However there was a lot of sketchy hit boxes and lag on a fairly high end computer. I'd love to see a version of this game in the future that gets those elements more refined.
Thanks! Were you able to try the downloadable build? We had some issues with the WebGL version that might be relating to what you experienced, especially the lag or sketchy framing
I'll give it another try today on the download version.
Nice storyboard! Well done
Nailed the theme! The movement was a little odd way better play when you download. But overall fun.
Quite a charming lil game! The storyboard and art is quite lovely, certainly it's strongest suit, and the funny premise was also a delight.
If anything was to be pointed out, perhaps the level progression could be a teensy bit more clear, since when we played the last thing we found after beating the bugs was the tutorial.
Overall a nice surprise to find at this gamejam. n-n
Thank you for the feedback. Were you able to get past the rose? and into the tunnel/maze system?
The game ends up in the bigger tree.
