Very cute and lovely gameplay loop. My only complaint is a technical one, it's kinda laggy for me for some reason. But good small game besides that.

Developer

Yeah, i think this is a problem of kaboom.js. It is not as powerfull like Phaser.js or any other game engine.

This is a fun game with interesting mechanics. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! :)

A nice bitesized little game. I like that there was a bit to learn, how to balance being a demon and the priest to finish the game. A satisfying finish, I'm glad you kept it short, I think many game jam games tend to be over ambitious with their play time. I don't see any connection to the theme though? Not a big deal in the end, main thing is finishing a game and better yet, creating one that is enjoyable :)

thanks for your Kind words. [B]eneath [u]nholy [G]round is an acronym for BUG. That is Part of the Game Jam rules, That a Game can also just ne an acronym.

Very cute little game. The pixel art what great! Digging was sometimes a little finnicky, and you can get softlocked if you dig to the bottom too fast. But I enjoyed it!

Took me a few attempts but managed to beat it in the end! :D

I quite liked the different mechanics that were at play depending upon whether you were acting as a priest or a demon (I also found the digging pretty satisfying). My only complaint would be maybe to have the priest be able to heal quicker, I found I had a 5-10 second period of waiting after each battle. It wasn't a big deal though, minor issue overall :)

Nice work!

Developer

Thank you :) You are right. It needs a little more polishing.

Very atmospheric game!

That was fun! It took me two tries before I fully understood the game, but afterwards it was smooth sailing and I was able to beat the game. It's an interesting concept. I like the atmosphere of the game. Perhaps my one criticism was the controls. A bit tricky to use. Perhaps instead of the three x,c,v buttons, you could have two; one of those buttons could be to attack as the demon or dig as the priest. It can just be the generic "action" button depending on the game state. Just a suggestion though. Still a great submission, nicely done!

Thanks for your thoughts. I had similar ones (afterwards :D).

Really nice concept, took me a while to figure out how things worked though :(

Developer

Thank you. Yeah, the introduction could be better. But this is my first game, so i have to learn a lot :)

The spooky feeling is real on this game, well done :)

Developer

Thank you :) That is what i wanted!

Great idea! It took me a few tries to understand how the digging works, but once I got it, it was simple enough to use! Great job on submitting a game!

Developer

Thank you. Yeah, i think if i give it another shot, i would rebuild the digging.

I also played this game a view days ago. I mostly like the dark atmosphere but I think the controls are making it a bit harder to play then it should. I mean it's easy up till where I got but slow and tedious to pray each time to dig further. But it is well made, congrats!
