  • I'm a bit confused. The first elvel basically ask you to NOT use the main mechanic. Then the second level trolls you into a dead end and again, the solution is to NOT use the main mechanic and then it trolls you AGAIN into a dead end and the solution is to... NOT use the main mechanic and sneek into a small hole and then I was lost. I'm sorry but the level design is really not good and I don't know if it was supposed to subvert expectation or it's just plain trolling, but I don't udnerstand the point of a mechanic that makes expend, that you can't reset without restarting the level and that is NEVER a good idea. I'm guessing it's useful a some point, but I'll never know.

The pixel art is a bit inconsistent in size, but the platforming is solid. Nice job.

I thinking of the same concept but the character use expanding abality to fight, kinda like strech, soemthing i forgot. kool stuff though

Fits the theme well. The movement feels a bit strange tho.

the game doesnt really feel that finished, ofc thats pretty normal for a gamejam, i like the idea and platformers are cool, so good job

Developer

I probably should have gone for a loop game, linear stuff like this is pretty difficult to finish for a jam. Thanks a lot for the feedback and the nice words :d

Cool! This game fits the theme very well. I personally wasn't a big fan of the "troll" sections, but besides that a solid game.

This game is awesome! I love how it fits with the theme! (Can the hosts just nominate themselves as the winner?)

Developer

Thanks!

Cool game and use of the jam's theme but I feel like it could be explored a bit more.

Cool concept and fits the theme very well. I like the idea that you have to decide whether or not expanding is a good idea as it can't be reversed. The reset level is fast & makes it easy & not frustrating to explore the different options. Personally I like that the game doesn't take itself too seriously and has some troll moments. The player animations and bgm are cool too!

Some feedback would be the physics feels a little floaty. Also minor thing, I was initially using the arrow keys to play but up arrow doesn't work on the ladder.

Overall I had fun! Great job :)

It doesn't say how to expand

Developer

It does :d in the tutorial and story introduction at the start.

The game's concept is interesting.  Particularly, I like the idea of size-changing affecting access to different areas. It's a shame this wasn't explored more deeply. However, I found the platforming controls to be somewhat floaty, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the level design, combined with the dark colors, often made it challenging to figure out what actions were required to complete a level. Simplifying the initial levels could provide a smoother introduction for players. Despite these issues, I appreciated the quick level reset feature, which helped alleviate some frustration.

Developer

Thanks for the response! I've never made any 2D games before, so this was more of a test to figure out how to design levels. Thanks for the feedback as well! I will surely implement it in my future projects!

Super neat idea! I like how quickly it restarts when you die, and that you have to restart voluntarily once you activate certain switches. The graphics and atmosphere is great too, I enjoyed the narration at the start and in the walls. There is some fun trolling here and there too, great work!

My only nitpick is that sometimes if you push crates too fast they go over the hole they are supposed to fall in, I lost a bit of time due to that, but it's nothing major. Would love to see this expanded further 😁

Developer

Thanks for the response!

I sadly figured the crate issue out  ~10 minutes before the submission time was due :d

I really liked this game, would love to see it grow. I'd love to see tightened up levels, since I'm tripping up on what should be flat floors. and as I mentioned with testing your game, sequence breaking would be neat. Great job, Host.

Clever idea, fun puzzle with the game mechanic!

Final time was 04:45:207!

I think the main area for improvement here would be the levels. I would've liked there to be more of them, for one thing, and the levels that were there felt more troll-ish in design than I was expecting. It was pretty funny, but there are probably more interesting puzzles you could make with the size-growth concept. The controls also felt a little loose and the sound design could've generally been better, but otherwise the game is fine as is and ties into the theme quite well.

Best time!
