Great game and idea.  It's unfortunate that few people have controllers

I absolutely adore this! If it wasnt for the bug I told you about on discord I would have put 5 stars on the fun but it's still an awesome concept all the same. Ima download this and play it every once in a while in my free time cause it's very well made and polished. How did you get those children school sounds like the oopsie daisy though?

Developer

Shucks, thank you so much, that's the nicest compliment you could've made! With a concept this basic we tried to polish it as much as we could. Most sounds we put in the game were found while digging in zapsplat.com 's free sound assets library !

Very cool game (played with a PS4 controller for added lolz) and a good use of the theme. Absolutely love the chalkboard aesthetics of it all and the straight-forward approach which gives a challenging yet rewarding experience from the minute you pick it up.

The only thing i would have wished for would have been more visual effects when you manage to keep the combo going and maybe make use of the vibraton/motion sensors of the controller? (or maybe i didn't get to that stage?)

All in all, fun idea and very original!

Developer

This was definitly the next step, adding more stage and using eventually camera shake, rumble and these stuff. Also for the visual effects we wanted to do particles but it's always tricky with UI :/

Submitted

Do you mean the whole game is done with UI elements?

Developer

Indeed it is!

I really like it! I'm fairly new to controllers (luckily bought one a few days ago) so it's particularly entertaining for me. It's kind of hard to get into it at first, but once you're there you just want to keep striking those input sequences, with tingles just before the time bar ends!

Also thanks for the Linux version!

Unfortunately, I don't have a controller for this game...

Developer

:/ we weren't planning on making a controller-less version of the game (that would be sort of counter-intuitive) because of time constraints, and because it would've meant making a strikingly different variant of the game (new input configurations, new "level design", etc) !

We might make a PS controller version of the game if people like it, though :)

I wonder how many people have a controller available.

Unfortunatly we knew we were taking risks because not all people have controller, we support almost every controllers but joycon and PS4 bluetooth, so if you have an old controller might give it a try it could work.

Are you able to build a macOS version of this?  You can upload it an external site (google drive, media fire, etc) and just share the link here so we can play and rate it during the rating period.

Developer(+1)

We will up a build tomorrow for Mac and linux. We didn't had time to do it today, sorry. We'll keep you up to date when it's up!

Sounds great!

Also, we gave a shot for webgl but we had insane input lags making it unplayable and not enough time to make it work properly.

Submitted

I feel ya on the webGL.  We did the same thing and our game turned into something completed different lol.

It will be up in the evening, noone of us has a mac or linux OS, so I'm installing VM to test it, might take 1 hours or 2

Very cool!

The macOS build is ready in our game page !

Nice - I'll give it a go

EDIT - Works!  Alright I launched the app, started, thought that I might actually need a real controller, plugged in my PS3 controller, and started over.  App didn't seem to recognize any controller input but it did recognize my keyboard input although it was all funky (I'm on a QWERTY keyboard and I'm guessing this is made for an AZERTY keyboard).  The controller training is really cool!  I like the interface going across to show the button presses and the countdown timer.  Well made menus, fitting classroom sounds, and quality artwork.  Great jam entry!  Is the app supposed to be used with (non keyboard) controllers?

Developer(+1)

Yeah it is supposed to work with gamepad, PS3 should work fine, did you try to relaunch the game after plugging your gamepad? Might be weird but maybe keyboard was player one and gamepad player 2
