Cool game, I don't think that I ever played a bullet hell that you have to get close to the enemy. it's a cool concept and using the 10 second theme nailed it for me. It made the game much more entertaining and it worked well with the concept of getting close to the enemy. I think that as others said, it's a bit too hard. However, I don't think that the patterns were bad, maybe getting the collision box smaller or the character smaller would make it easier?

Overall, very cool and unique entry! had fun playing it :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback, we’re so glad that you had fun and that you think it’s a unique entry :)!

As for the difficulty, we have concluded that definitely it should have been tuned down. Maybe as you say, we could have made the player hitbox a bit smaller. We also were considering increasing the delay between bullets in some patterns so that there’s more time to get closer (especially the blue and orange circles), but sadly in the we didn’t tune it down enough and kept it too close to the limit. Something to consider for future JAMs, never rely only on dev testing for difficulty, haha!

Submitted

Haha totally agree about dev testing for difficulty! Ran into the same problem in my entry -_-

good game. some of the patterns made it difficult to reach the boss

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! The intention was precisely that the patterns made it non-trivial to get close to the boss. However, as we’ve seen from other comments, we really should have tuned down the difficulty a bit!

The game was pretty fun to play along with challenging. I liked the lore a lot. Nice job. Could you check my game if you have time maybe?

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the game and the lore :)

We plan on expanding on it in the future, so keep tuned!

It is cool game, but a little difficult to me. Overall it is very fun!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, many people have told us that it’s a bit too difficult, we need to learn to better balance the difficulty for future JAMs..

Really nice visuals, I would try to maybe experiment a little bit more with 2d lightings and shadows to give it a more complex look, but that's just my opinion. great entry and use of the theme.

We actually thought about the same mechanic of slowing time so that was definitely fun, come play and rate my game I would appreciate it :)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! We didn’t have a lot of time to experiment with lighting, it is definitely something to look into for future updates!

All the sprite have a lot of personality, they are really well made, congrats. The sounds and the music are quite simple, but effective. I really liked it!

Developer

Thanks a lot, glad you liked it! We still have lots of room for improvement though, haha!

Thats a nice concept and i like the visuals,

your sprites while having a simple ball shape have a lot of little details to give them character, and the sword has a cool design as well :D

Also gotta say that the story is cool and that the wordplay with the title is as well, and quite clever ^^

The difficulty and balance seems to be the biggest issues i encountered, cause even though i like the melee concept and the fact that you let attacks have a separate orientation from where you're moving, i still think it's a bit hard to navigate the patterns to come close enough for hits especially with the time pressure, but considering the jam's time i can totally understand that you probably didn't have the time to find the right balance. nothing a bit of tweaking can't fix, cause there's an interesting base.

Other than that, still a nice experience so well done to you guys :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! it’s really inspiring to read comments like yours. You’re on point about the difficulty, we couldn’t dedicate nearly as much time as we wanted to playtesting and tweaking, and since we were scared of making it too easy we ended up making it too hard. Definitely a mistake to learn from.

Submitted(+1)

Haha, well i'm not sure if i'm all that inspiring  :p but i always feel its best to try and detail my experience with a game in jam comments in hope this helps.

And no worries balancing in a limited time like here is always hard so i can't really blame ya for that :)

Really solid game! But yeah like others said, it could be toned down a bit in difficulty, don't be afraid of making your game too easy! Too easy is almost always better than too hard. Other than that, I really liked the concept and execution of this game :)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! You’re right, too easy is generally better than too hard, we’ll be more careful next time!

Nice game, it seems to me a little too difficult but overall good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! We tried to tone down the difficulty a bit, but we were afraid to make it too easy. I guess we ended up leaving it too hard in the end…

Really fun to play. Enemy attack patterns were pretty interesting and really well done. Audio was really good as well. I had a lot of fun playing it. Also, lore on the game page was a pretty interesting read :)
Great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback!!

Its fun to play but if you could hit the bullet at the right time and have it destroyed would make the difficulty easier. I think presentation wise it looked good.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! We did consider adding a mechanic where you’d hit bullets and reflect them towards the enemies, but ended up not implementing it because we wanted to keep it simpler for the JAM. I hope we can add it to a future version. Thanks for playing :D!

Didn't sound very interesting at first but seeing how the patterns were made in order for you to sneak in and hit really showed what the idea was all about. I couldn't get past the pattern with the alternating orange and blue rings though, don't know if it's really hard or I'm missing something that should be obvious.
Bit of constructive feedback on the graphics, please don't upscale pixel art sprites. Was probably just due to time restraints and such, but yeah, it looks bad.

Nice to see a cool Japanese title that isn't just katakana by the way.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! The pattern with alternating rings gets a bit slower over time, so if you avoid it for a bit while trying to stay around the centre of the screen, you’ll eventually see a chance to go full speed ahead and attack the boss. Maybe we made it a little too tight. As for the pixel sprites, we were going for a low-res style, but rushed it too much and ended up with different pixel sizes all over the place, so yeah it was a bit messy. We’re looking forward to improve all these aspects in the future. Thanks for playing!

Great music and art!

Very hard, but satisfying to learn

Plus, controller support, 10/10

Developer

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it :D
