Scary man go door

Submitted(+1)

Yeah visually very well done the grainy lighting and flashlight controls were smooth and felt realistic, the lighting was especially well done an accompanied by the atmospheric noises. Really was quite spooky I think you've shown a lot of skills in this and i genuinely felt a lil on edge which for me says a lot cause it's rare that a horror game does without excessive jump scares. I'm interested to see more works and more story as i feel you have successfully created a horror game with strong atmosphere I'd just want to find out more.

Really cool submission thanks for that!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, really went out on the atmosphere and im glad it worked this well, and yeah this game works best if theres no jumpscares and the stuff that happens is very minor, well see in the fututre, i will definitly be making a longer game of this

I look forward to it keep it up man! If you have the time check out our game Charter! Let us know what you think

Hi, I really love the graphic effects you have got in your project. May I ask you what kind of post processing effects you have implemented?

Developer(+1)

so i forced the camera to be 1:1 aspect ratio, than have a vignette with 0 smoothness to make it a circle, some lens distortion, bloom, and also i ran it through a Render Texture to get that crunchy shadows/colors

Submitted(+1)

What texture size did you use? the floor is literally outstanding with regards the details. URP pipeline? I guess you added some metallic to the floor shader as well to make it a bit shiny. Sorry for all the questions but I am really curious about your work :-)

Developer(+1)

I use HDRP, i never tried URP but HDRP gives way more control while looking awesome, also the Post Processing stuff is amazing

For the Materials, i amde my own Material using Shader Graph so that way i can use Ambient Occlusion and Roughness correctly and easily, i still need to find a way to add Height, but even with these 4 textures i get an amazing result

For the resolution i used 512 because that's what textures.com gives me, bit disapointed but i think due to the camera you can't see the blurryness

Thanks for the info, I would like to connect with you on Discord if that's fine. I leave you my contact KPS#3475
We are trying to make an horror game with the same graphic effects of your project and I don't want to spam on your page with my questions :-)

The sounds, visuals and atmosphere is really well made. The gameplay is okay, but I would liked there to be a story. But overall a pretty good jam game.

Developer

I will definitly re visit this look later and make propper longer game, and add more to the atmosphere (Dust particles, stepping shake and maybe Depth of Field id it's not that performance intensive)

10/10. The best entry by far. Visually appealing, great gameplay mechanics, perfect horrors.
Doesn't jumpscare you with scream, but keeps you on edge anticipating a jumpscare which doesn't exist. Very creepy. That's how horror should be.
The camera mechanics blew me away, the polish and feel of the controller was just perfect.
Definitely underrated.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, whenever im gonna make a longer version im gonna keep the scares to a low because i think that's the best way.

This is an absolutely fantastic little game - visually pleasing and very suitable, and also quite scary; I had seen a video so I kind of knew what to expect but I was still on the edge all the time. Really great job!

Submitted(+1)

i really like your movement and controls, i thought the aspect was a nice touch. i will say that it was very hard to find the tape on the ground when i first played. i only realized it was on the ground after reading through the comments, after that though i knew what to expect and what i should be doing. It's just that first tape. when i first played i also had gray boxes on the outsides of my screen which was putting me off but playing again the boxes were black which made it fit nicely into the game and atmosphere. really good game though.

Developer

The grey boxes are i think a no render zone, could have fixed it by simply fading the game to black, oops

and yeah, the game tells nothing so you have to figure out how to progress the game, and idk how to make that clear (maybe have the tape standing up and against the floor?)

Submitted(+1)

It's impressive to see how you've been able to create a cohesive world within your game. The art style, music, and sound effects all work together to create a really immersive experience.

This was amzing scared the hell outa me at one point great job! Everything for me was 5 stars it was the best game so far in my opinion loved the bits of story and the movement with the camera was amazing and made it more immersive, fantastic job!

Developer

Thank you, i really went all out on the atmosphere, but in my opinion the story is really nothing

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Loved it!, I really like the horror genre and it's a very good delivery. The atmosphere is really creepy. I would like a little bit more effort into the audio design for a game like this. Also, I would like to know some more info as a player about the situation I am in, e.g. in a sanatorium.

Really nice work, I hope I see more from the creator in the future!

Developer(+1)

I am not good with audio, and i forgot about the VHS put in sound 💀 (i get all my sounds from freesounds), and don't worry about lore/story, i came up with it in an hour to get working on the game asap, maybe i will make a longer version...

Submitted(+1)
Very good atmosphere to make me shiver.
Developer

i went all out on atmosphere

Submitted(+1)

Got scared

Submitted(+2)

good game

Developer

Thanks 👍

Submitted(+2)

i was spooked

Developer(+2)

Was so spooky that you had to say it twice xdd, thank you

Submitted

I was indeed that spooked haha

Submitted

Game looks phenomenal, but I couldn't figure if you can do anything in it, like all you can do is walk around and open the first door?

Developer

at the dront door there is a tape on the floor, you can pick that up and that is the gameplay loop

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Nice graphics and sound design, but I didn't really get what was going on and what the TV and all meant.

Those were the best graphics I've ever seen in a GameJam so far, so congrats on that. One of the best games in the GameJam so far.

Developer

Yeah, there isn't really a story xdd, i only had 1 week and in these types of games you need like 10-30 mins to tell a story without any text, thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

This is beatifull, really a game like this will take for me minimum a month, not a week. Great

Developer(+1)

Thank you, the aesthetic was done day 1 and i think it shows that art style and aesthetic is always better than just realistic, all i did was force aspect 1:1, add vignettet and lens distortion and done 👍(also run it through render texture to mess with the color depth), thanks for playing
