Neat game :) Gameplay was fun and art was polished, well done.

fun game!! the slime animations were awesome and I loved the atmosphere.  character movement did feel a little heavy and slide-y but it didn't take away too much from the enjoyment.  great incorporation of the theme, and I lol'd at the play button gag xD  nice work you two!!

Submitted(+1)

Very good use of the theme. I loved the very clean implementation into the game desing. Art and sound very good. Also the replayability was a nice feature. Even coding that into a game jame. much respect.

Nice concept. Love twin stick shooters. Graphics were nice. The movement and combat felt a little slow. And I wish the enemies wouldn't follow you room to room. They start to pile up after a while.

Thought the dim lighting, evasive play button, and mobs and items that were fake were really unique and cool game design features. Solid graphics, but music was not very engaging though. Gameplay loop was solid, simple, and intuitive, but would've liked to see some sort of progression. Impressive work though, nice job!

Developer(+1)

I totally agree with the music was not very engaging, unfortunately halfway through the jam we lost 3 of our team members including the sound designer so the two of us left (neither of which has much experience with sound design) were scrambling to complete as much as we could and unfortunately sound wasn't a big focus (as you may be able to tell with the two semi-random music tracks we have).

Thanks for the feedback and playing our game :)

The art looks great!

Developer

Thanks :D

The graphics where good and I got a super pump of adrenaline when I got stuck in a corner when there like 15 slimes surrounding me.

Submitted(+1)

At first I was surprised when a slime followed me to another room, then I realized it was a friendly ghost slime and we had an adventure together.  Good times!

Submitted(+1)

didn't really understand the game

but the menu prank was really cool :D

Developer (1 edit)

In the game u have to find a coin in the dungeon by killing the slimes and dodging spikes but there are fake and real enemies and coin u have to figure it out.

When we were discussing about the game idea I jokingly said what if we make a fake play button but at last Boxfriend ended up implementing it. :D

I really liked the graphics on this, it was a pretty game that felt good to control. My only real problem is the lack of some sound effects when hitting enemies. It just felt kind of hollow when hitting them, I totally get it for the fake enemies since they arent real. But seeing the slime explode with no sound was a big weird. If there was sound but for some reason I could not hear it than that could also be an issue. Over all I liked it a lot!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I totally agree that the game lacked sounds, unfortunately halfway through the jam we lost 3 of our team members including the sound designer so the two of us left (neither of which has much experience with sound design) were scrambling to complete as much as we could and unfortunately sound wasn't a big focus (as you may be able to tell with the two semi-random music tracks we have).

Maybe after the jam period ends we may revisit the game and add some more sounds since we'll no longer be pressed for time, but I suppose only time will tell.

Loved the style! The gameplay way also interesting, I liked the binding-of-isaac style combat but I think it should be a lot more fast paced. I felt everything was just a bit too slow. Great work overall! I'd love if you could try and rate my game too by the way (:

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Binding of Isaac is actually a huge inspiration of mine, the combat and even the dungeon generation are heavily inspired by it! If you get a chance to replay the game a few times, you will probably begin to notice what I mean about the dungeon generation, it's probably the thing I'm personally most proud of for the programming side of this game, seeing it in the Unity Editor makes it super obvious that it is based on BoI (the old flash version, not the newer version with differently shaped rooms).

Honestly I'm super glad someone was able to make the connection!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Haha that's a pretty funny coincidence, cause I also made a binding of Isaac inspired Rouge like! You can check it out on my page if you'd like ("Inferos public beta") , I never ended up finishing it but it's got a good bit of content in it. That might be why I made the connection! Either way, great work on the dungeon generation haha. Also, I'd really appreciate it if you checked out my submission (:

Cool game the graphics are really good! Perhaps add some hit indicators to give more feedback to the player

Submitted(+1)

The graphics are so good! really builds an atmosphere. Im not sure if some slimes were supposed to be invincible or not but if that was the case some difference between them would be good clarity. Otherwise awesome game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Until the very last minute before we built/submitted there was a decently clear indicator for which enemies were invincible (not real) and which weren't, the fake enemies are a bit transparent. However we decided to add a bit of lighting coming from the player at the last minute and didn't notice that made it harder to differentiate the real enemies from the fake ones, it was much easier to tell which were real when there was global lighting.

It just comes down to rushing things without much testing

Love the art. Good job.

A bit short. The pixelart is great and the UI is nice. I'm not a great sound designer myself, but I think there could be a lot of improvements, like:

  • hit sound if the dagger hits the slime
  • hurt sound if the player loses a heart

But nevertheless a neat game! :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We formed a team with two programmer, a game designer, music designer and artist(me) but no one responded and vanished into thin air on the day 4, so Boxfriend and I done all the work we can in the remaining 3 days. and Thanks for playing the game.

I like the graphics and the audio, but the game was a bit confusing and i somehow completed the game, so you couldve added a tutorial

Very well made Art Like the Death effect of the Slimes!

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you for the feedback and playing the game

At first, the slimes had me scared but I did enjoy having 7 slimes following me around once I realized that they couldn't hurt me. The movement and the shooting felt clean. The art and the music was wonderful.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game :)

+1 for the menu

Developer

Thanks :D

I found the coin! This was not bad at all. The controls are a little floaty and shooting up and down did not always work for me. Still - good job!
