Very nice use of the theme. Art, Music and SFX are solid. The different weapons are fun to use, just the flamethrower is a bit useless because not a lot of enemies are coming that close to you. Otherwise the UI element could be a bit bigger and maybe both on top/bottom, not diagnollay from each other.
In general a solid entry.
Solid game that is very polished. The visuals, sound effects, tutorials and UI are on point.
The gameplay is fun and interesting once you start to upgrade your shield and turrent.
Only improvement i can think of is, making the diffculty curfe a bit higher in the beginng. Just like 30% then its more challenging. Because after some time its feels just like click&shoot and the enemies can't really damage you.
Very nice graphics and sound. Fits the theme quite well. The tutorial was good.
Some points of improvement:
- at the beginning it was not clear that i needed to go to the beacon, maybe the should flash their light beam or so
- the player feels underpowered and it takes way to long to kill enemies
- when the big group spawns at the first beacon it feels like a waiting game because it takes too long to kill the whole group
- the weapons cooldown just takes out the fun an makes the game even slower
With the improvements and some balancing the fun factor can be drastically increased, because there is a solid and polish base here.
Nice concept, but as the other said, there is a gameplay loop missine here. Hitting some targets down ragen. Also thing about adding a limitation to the 3 different parameters. Because rn 460ft was the max. With a limitation the player can try to get an optimal going, to hit targets. Then maybe some different type of target, which need different kind of arrorw etc.
The game was fun to play and the art and audio were really goood. Also the CRT effect gave it an nice flair and game feel. The speedboster pickup also added some variation. It only needs to spawn more often because my last round was impossible to beat (76 highscore). You should also experiment with maybe giving the obstecals an new random location next time.
Also the meme explaning the gameplay was 10/10.
Like 8BitSquid said, there was a little bug, that your game didn't strech the whole screen. Next time do a little bit of playtesting with the online version. You still had a little bit of time :)
