Really loved the music.

Platforming felt great & loved the collectable double jump. Music is incredible but felt it could do with more vibrant visuals to match. Brilliant game.

Looks nice and idea with piano is cool. But very difficult for me :)

Awesome game! The player movement felt really good

Wow thats beautiful! Visuals, sounds, everything. Thats just not fair for the rest of us :D

The only little flaw I could find is that jumping sometimes is a little stiff. Other than that its great. Reminded me of celeste a little bit. Amazing!

Awesome game! REALLY innovative platformer mechanic and this could easily be a full release! One of the best games in this jam!

Okay first of all I love the pun! The game itself is pretty neat and the (beautiful) music fits well with the ambiance. I really like the game mechanics and the concept, too ^^

Amazing! This is one of my favorite games so far!  Great track selection - it was like the music of my heart, and then the beat dropped. I really enjoyed this, though had to give up at 9/10. At first, I found it hard till I realized the trick was not being afraid to hit the spikes as respawning was its own mechanic.

One of the levels I kept dying mainly because I couldn't see. I loved this only feedback I would say is that I wished the camera smoothing was reduced in some areas so I could see where I was moving. Also, the hit collisions were too unforgiven in 9 / 10. But great job with pacing, I enjoyed it as there were some easier levels in between the hard ones giving me time to breathe. Though I do think it would be great if the music looped, perfect rating across the board as I know you had to source that.

Developer

Thank you kindly.

I agree with you about the level with the spikes. I wanted the player to go get the flower, and then come down and see that he needs more orbs in orfer to make that gap and the spikes were there just to make sure you have no more than 4 orbs on you. But, turns out no one had more than 4 going into the spikes, and the spikes are just annoying and nothing more. This is my main regret with this one.

Also, I made the spikes the size of 1 tile, which isn't good. should have been max half the height. Even tho the collider is about 70% of the height it's still too high.

I am curious about the comment about the music looping. It loops until you get the 10th flower, and then stops for the ending.

Thank you again for the critique!

By looping I meant the track had a start and end state. Though it was set to loop, while you are playing the game the music would start and stop again. I enjoyed the music and visuals very much!

Great job! Quite difficult too, which is something positive. I enjoyed playing. Positive ratings for sure!

Very refined concept. I found many levels frustrating though. On one of the scrolling levels I couldn't see the spikes down where I have to move to.

Very nice music, visuals and general aesthetic.

The jump sounds blends a bit too much with music for me. I think it makes for reduced feedback.

The fact that you keep the double jumps death is easy to miss. (I know the flower is supposed to lead the player to that conclusion, but if the player tries to jump when catching it, he'll miss it).

I liked the credits screen.

Developer(+1)

I 100% agree with everything you said.

The spikes level is my least favorite, I just need to delete the spikes from there..

I know that it's easy to miss, but you can't procede without it so I figured it's okay to give the player a bit of room to figure it out himself.  I will definetly try and make a better introduction to it tho.

Thank you !

Great! I Look forward to playing your next project!

Don't forget to have look at my game as well :)

Overall a great game. Your audio was amazing and the idea was good too!

The only problem is that the jump feels a bit off. I can´t exactly name what it is, but they just feel a bit "heavy". Your Graphics looked great though.

Developer

I agree about the jump being heavy. The thing is, I knew I was gonna have the player jump multiple times, and since the screen is always wider than long so the jump should be low too. You can travel a lot of distance horizontal but not vertical which led to some people not understanding how far they can go to.

Thank you !!

Amazing game with great graphics, unbelievably good music, found an 11th flower sticking outside a wall by a pixel wasn't sure if it was normal cause the music then stoped. I found out it was suposed to happen by reading the comment

Right now, this is the best game that I have played from this jam!

Things I liked:

  • Everything!!!
  • The sound design is A1, the music choice creates this creepy/mysterious atmosphere that gets me super immersed. And the piano keys being hit every time you jump. SOOOOOO GOOD!
  • The visual design is super minimal but super sleek. You can tell a lot of work was put into the shading of the orbs.
  • The gameplay uses simple mechanics that are quick to grasp but hard to master. Its set up so that you feel awesome completing each level.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • I really don't have much. I wasn't able to beat it (played during a quick break) but it didn't seem like it had a story with it which I think would have really made it next level! (This is me being nitpicky obvs. The game was so well done!)

I'd really appreciate it if you could check out my game too!

Developer

Thank you kindly. Really appreciate it.

I'm glad you liked it!! A story is always good for sure, but I couldn't think on something quick enough :D

I actually played your game already and really liked it!

Wow !! The game is crazy, I love it ! The leve design is amazing, the jump mechanics using the orbs are great. We really have fun finishing the level to collect the 10 flowers !!

I want to see this game finished so I can play this great game for a lot longer (wish I could play it with a controller, or on mobile ^^ )

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear you enjoyed! :D

Definetly should have made at least a controller support.. but I didn't manage my time well.  Will do so in the next jam!

Excellent game! The music is astonishing! I like the concept of the game, if you want to explore further this idea, maybe having different orbs having different proprieties could be interesting. I would be curious to know the software you used for the music...

Also, don't forget to play and rate my game!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear you liked it!

The music was made by my super talented friend, Adi Broshi, in Ableton live 10.
He is also available for work, I have a link for his facebook page inside the game's page.

the audio is fantastic, fitting the visuals well, all while adding that extra touch that just keeps you hooked, trying again and again. Talking about that, the levels are incredible, exploiting the mechanic super well, and really challenging you to cross that last gap where you're always failing, but are not blaming the game for it, only your own skills.

Overall, this game can be sooo frustrating but in the right way, keeping you trying and trying, until you finally finish it, and can just mess around in that last credit room (very cool thought btw) 10/10!!!

The only thing I can think of that was a bit confusing at first, was the fact that death does not reset the position of the orbs, which is exploited in some levels to the player advantage, but in other (like the one where you need to climb all the way to the top) can mess up the level design, forcing the player to exit and re-enter the room to set it back to normal. I don't know if that mechanic was intentionnal, but i can't help but feel like the flow of the game is based on how quickly the player can try again on a challenge, and how can he act to ace a level perfectly. Collecting orbs by throwing yourself on spikes kinda defeat that purpose, but also creates some interesting strategies, so i have mixed feelings about it.

Please keep it up, I would love to see that game going somewhere, and i think it would be interesting to add a timer at the end, as it would insentivise people to speedrun it, the same way as games like super meat boy do.

Great mechanics, Great art, Great Audio, Intersting take on the theme (nice wordplay on the title btw), all in all, one of the best submissions i have tested so far :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you kindly.

I really appreciate the critique, and honestly I agree with you 100%.

I made all of the levels in one day, and I couldn't decide a clear path. I just blasted through all of the ideas which came o my head, which is why it's messy in it's pacing.

I think the stages should lean towards more quick and flow-y style, and extras like the flowers should be seperate and have those type of exploits and puzzle like feel.

A quick solution which came in mind is having only certain type of orbs not reset on respawn for the puzzles, and have the main path reset for those quick feel I honestly like more.

As for the timer. Was definetely on my check list, but I started late on the jam and by the time I finished it I was exhausted so I just left it out lol

Thank you again! really appreciate it!
