In what way does your game fit the theme?
If you fail you rewind to try again.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes 99% of the code was written during the jam. Music was completely made during the jam. Some free textures where taken from external websites. They are credited in the Game description.

Didn't really know what I was doing in the is game. Was interesting trying to figure out the controls. Nice Zombies! lol
Good job!
Could you please play and rate my game as well?
Im not able to play your game I'm so sorry. My safari browser said no and in chrome I only hear music and see a frozen screen. I have to say the music is really good. :D
Interesting. Could you check the debug console for me and see if it caught some errors? On my end (firefox and chrome) it works exactly as intended. Perhaps it has something to do with the operating system or the render piepline. I have compiled it on linux and used the universal render pipeline for the first time (in retrospect this wasn't worth it).
I noticed it that some games don't run on my system, but run fine on others. This is peculiar indeed.
looks very normal to me. The only error here happens in my browser as well (I think that i didn't assign one material properly)
Lol my debugging made it in aswell!
I think I might now what is happening. I had it happen a couple of times when making the game.
Here is the gist:
In my scene I have a UI panel that has a special material with a special shader (rewinding thingy)
After I added some lights it always turned black and didn't disappear when the rewind was supposed to be over. After adjusting the light parameters (don't cast shadow and so on) everything was back to normal, so I thought that, that's the end of the story. It seems like different systems interpret the code differently for some reason and bring this dead bug back. Basically eveything in the game happens, but you can't see it, since it is hidden behind a black panel.
It's probably the lights that screw with everything. I should try to make a version without lights and see if it works then.
This is the most hardcore game I've ever seen in game jam:) can't let the airplane depart and seeing zombies over and over again.
At first I thought this is a joke as I couldn't manage to do anything. Then I saw gymnastic zombies coming my way and I had a pretty good laugh and wanted to try again. Second round I managed to move the airplane and it actually felt pretty good to have achieved something! But I couldn't get off the ground.
The theme felt really forced in here though, as it's just a visual effect for an ordinary restart. Would have been awesome to see a flight simulator with a real rewind mechanic.
Interesting that you found the rewind forced in. Sure the proper way would have been to record all your input and play it backwards with physics reversed, but it's just on me having an arse for a head and programming waaayy to slowly.
Turns out you can't make a fly sim in a week, especial if you have only a vague idea of aerodynamics and you struggle with things like quaternions. One day I will defeat them once and for all... one day...
I had a very hard time playing the game mostly because i really dont know how to fly a plane i dont know what those buttons do. i suggest that you should add a pop up box that shows instruction on how to start the plane, the idea was really cool especially the zombies trying to stop you.
There is an instruction in the comments down below if you are interested in retrying. But you are correct. It is unreasonable to expect you to figure it all out on you own (my first attempt starting a plane probably went similar to yours). What do you think, would achievements for turning on the battery etc. be enough hints for you?
I've legit soloed a C150 and couldn't get the plane started lmao, appreciate the pilot representation though!
Well I am not a pilot and have actually never been anywhere near a Cessna. Most of the engine starting procedure is a mix of stuff from flightgear (free simulator), other simulator videos and stuff I read or watched online.
Perhaps the checklist is different for starting a c150 ? I can't imagine that it is too much different. All planes start with the battery doing a primer stroke and setting the magnetros + ignition, adjusting mixture and throttle release the brake and you are already flying. I have a more detailed description in the game comments down below, I would love your expertise on the accuracy.
Nah, you have it pretty spot on! It's been a while since I've flown so I had to relook it up myself for some bits. I think the only part from my experience is the throttle isn't usually so easy to start the plane up. The one I flew was ancient, so you had to sort of ease it in/out like a lawnmower. Pretty hard to put that in a game though!
Random tidbit but most planes have the pre-check list somewhere in the cockpit since even trained pilots usually refer to it, maybe that could be a way to give the player some aid?
The Zombies were very funny but I was never able to get off the ground though I was able to get moving. This game me an idea tho some time in the future I would like to make a crane operator game where you have to use a control panel
Did you use right click + scroll wheel to zoom? Again one of the things I probably didn't explain too well.
On one hand a tutorial section on game controls might have helped, but on the other hand it feels a little weird making a tutorial for a game that requires you to figure it out on your own. That's a cursed problem right there.
Hey nice game! I enjoyed playing it. There was a constant pressure to turn on the plane and zombies were appearing from everywhere. The audio was great
Excuse me sir, but are you a bot? You have given the exact same comment on this game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724684 and I have enough flattery resistance to know my game is neither nice nor has a cool art style.
Lol your whole comment timeline is literally a copy paste! https://itch.io/profile/shivamagrahari
Dude please play the games you are commenting on. I get you want people to play your game, but writing "nice game" over and over doesn't exactly help the devs. You need to rate them fairly and give good criticism. Jams aren't about winning they are about trying new things and improving and the thing you are currently doing makes you look scummy.
Be patient the ratings go for 2 weeks and there are only 2000 raters it takes a tad before the people get to your game, no need for tricks.
Look I am not angry at you. It is fine if you can't express everything with fancy words, but I would appreciate if you would say things that match the game. At least give the people the impression that you have played the game for five minutes and found it worthy enough to write a unique sentence.
Besides only practice will improve your english (and most don't actually care if it's a little broken)
That's the exact feeling I wanted to achieve! It would have been funny to include the complete user manual with all ins and outs, but researching and writing that would have taken me a week by itself. Don't mind me mr. zombie I need to consult the manual on how many times to pull the primer!
Glad you liked the music. First time I actually bothered making some. Also if you quit the game thru the menu there is another tune (That's where the credits where supposed to be, but an animation bug swallowed them)
It is stressful, in a good kind of way.
I couldn't manage to get the plane started, but that didn't stop me from trying, multiple times!!
The music audio could be a little lower, but it works to make the experience more intense
Good job
