It's really cool idea and mechanic. Style is perfect - everything looks so polished. Unofrtunately game is too hard for me

Awesome idea and design, but that princess saving level was too hard, I gave up after 15 takes....

Developer

Well it's okay, not everyone is up to saving a princess ;D

But seriously, I suppose you're talking of the level with King K.?
This one is very hard indeed, here is a hint if you'd like to try again: If King K. was hurt, he might drop the princess.
Another one just in case: From that height, the princess would never survive a fall though. An empty pool would not be enough to save her.

Submitted

Well, I might give it another try.

awesome idea for it to be like editing a video :D. I did not get trough the last level though...

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SUBMISSIONS, As a film fan  and video editor, the mechanic warms my heart.

This is amazing! This is the first game I felt really comfortable giving 5 stars across the board. Good job!

I actually laughed at how you understood the theme "Rewind" because I had never thought of a game like this in my entire life! :-)

I had so much fun playing it and the idea is actually unique, in my opinion!

Great work!

Here is my game in case you consider rating it: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723573

This is such a well-made game! It's super polished and has a great concept. I really, really enjoyed your animations and voice acting.

This game has such a great design! I really liked what you make with the manipulation of the scene. Gaves to the player some freedom to choice what to do and solve the next step. Very fun to play!

Honestly I think this is far the best game I've played. It just so unique. No joke I love everything about it. Keep it up boys!

This game has a really fun design, and the rewind mechanic is one of the best of the games I have played so far. The clip manipulation was a perfect mini-version of a video editing timeline, and editing them was just as much fun as the actual playing part, so it was like getting two games in one. Like the other commenters, I could not get past King Kong; I think I need to collect water in the pool and slide it under the lady, but I could never get there in time. You could easily expand this game into a full version with lots of other classic movie genres to choose from. Some ideas to consider: give the director a few other comments that get selected randomly, or  it would be fun to hear him get progressively more frustrated. You could also put one more tool in the clip editor: the ability to cut clips and have their action stop and start would add an additional challenge for later levels. Thank you for the really fun game experience!

Developer

Thank you for the great feedback!

We wanted to implement more mechanics to the timeline but unfortunately there was not enough time. But the idea to cut clips to have them stop and start at a certain time is great, thank you!

You got the right idea with the pool. It is actually designed so that you can't beat the level in just 1 take but the pool stays filled once you did that part. It's not very obvious, so for sure we need some tweaking on that one.

Wow! this game has video editing tool that's very unique concept love it! audio quality on this game is very good and also gameplay give me lot of fun! nice work!

Developer

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it! ;)

The two modes of gameplay (manipulating the sequence of events and then controlling the protagonist) complement the fun audio-visual design, overall making for a very enjoyable game. I'd definitely be interested in seeing how this could be expanded on.

Wow, this game is insanely good. Great graphics, audio, good theme, well done.

Really loved this game! Honestly no negative feedback.. if you keep working on it it'll only get better. Art and soundtrack also fantastic.. though I couldn't get past King Kong? Must have been missing something. All in all very good job! Check out my game too if you get a chance. Cheers!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yea, the King Kong level turned out to be a little too difficult I think, there's quite a hard puzzle hidden inside the level including a pool and water ;)

Yeah I got to moving the pool underneath the woman, - but couldn't work out what  I was doing wrong haha.. figured I needed the cloud at a certain time but couldn't work out when that was.- will have a look again in the next couple of days.. pretty determined to get to the end! Cheers and thanks for the game :)

Even though I couldnt get past King Kong I really enjoyed this game! The ability to change around when events happen is a great idea. I only wish there had been more time for you to explore this more. Maybe be able to rezise, delete, add tacks, etc... Overall great game! Also great art and music!

Developer

Thank you for the great feedback! Yep, sadly there was not enough time to dive deeper into these mechanics. I admit, the King Kong level is super hard, no shame in not solving it ;)
