Fun game. Like others have mentioned, it reminds me of Getting Over It. With a bit more refinement and polish, specifically for the controls and physics, I think you got a great game. Loved the art style.

Great game, it gives me some getting over it vibes! Really love the artstyle!

The game remind me about the man and the hammer.

Well done on the game mechanics. I quite like the environment of the game. Good job!

Good game!

the art and the sound effects are very well done. the grappling hook mechanics are very cool, especially the throw + jump combo I really like. the game reminds me of Getting Over It, which I also like.

I had a lot of fun playing your game. The art style is very cool and matches with your sound effects. Did you record the sounds yourself? The game reminded me of "Getting over it".
Unfortunately I had to restart the game twice because the pencil got longer than it should be.
In summary, you had a good idea and implemented it well.

I´ve submitted a local multiplayer game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722755. I would be happy to get your feedback on it. :-D

I did record the sound effects myself. Thank you! You got a thin and long looking pencil right? If so do you know how it happened?

I´ve just tried to replicate that bug and it seems like that it happens when the penicel hits something completely parralel to it:

( I am using WeTransfer since pictures are not allowed in posts. The link only works 7 days.)

So far i have not managed to replicate this bug on another collider.
I hope it helps.

Thank you! I found and was able to fix the issue in the editor.

I´m happy to hear this :D

A well done game. The graphics are really cool looking while the sound effects are just right. Good job.

This game has a very interesting look to it, which i like. It was a little difficult to get through it, but it was still enjoyable! Also, I like how the main character in both of our games are cassette tapes lol

Really love how this looks, the use of these realistic objects in a paper textured background while the character had cartoon stick limbs reminds me of The Amazing World of Gumball, really cool game! The game play is reminiscent of Getting Over It because of the throwing and hooking of tape reels

Damn, this game looks amazing. I had fun the time I played it before rage quitting haha

There were some collisions that didn't really make much sense, the grappling hook would hook to an empty space in an object, but other than that, it was great! I stopped playing it because I believe I got softlocked ;-; but I'll definitely come back and try to clear it at a later time.

I'd appreciate it if you checked out my game! https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723854

Knew about the collisions on the pencil being imprecise but better collision led to the pencil getting stuck in objects.  Finally found a solution to making the collisions continuous on the pencil without the pencil get stuck in the editor. Thank you for the feedback!

First time, absolutely love the art style and the mechanics.   Struggled with doing the throw + jump so didn't managed to get too far in to the game unfortunately.  Other than than, really interesting game!

Developer

Thank you! If you play again make sure to throw then after a small delay jump. You should hear two different audio clip indicating you succeeded.

gave the game another shot, managed to nail the jumping and got further in to the game :D

Love the style, the concept, the sounds...really, pretty much everything!

Cool mechanics! With a bit more polish you can have a cool game to publish. I had a few problems with collison detections, but it was very enjoyable in it's purpose. Congrats!

This was a really cool game! Loved the whole physics system and the art style is really charming

I loved this game! did that stop me from rage quitting? no but i still loved it!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the mechanics

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, cool mechanic!

Great work friend!! I loved it, I didn't finish it but the way you took it those "climbing/impossible" games and turn into something different is incredible. Except from some bugs and flaws, I liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this is one that is definitely different, by physically rewinding a tape as a mechanic. Got getting over it vibes too :D

could make a decent rage game
