In what way does your game fit the theme?
The games core mechanic involves rewinding VHS tapes.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all of the code. The character and NPC sprites were purchased and a sound was obtained on CC3.0 license, they have all been referenced on the landing page.

Pretty cool game! Although I felt the rewind aspect of the game could have been more profound. Right now the rewind is just a time gate layered with an incremental economy. But pretty cool idea and clean and simple execution.

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

I really like this. I have a family friend who worked in a rental store and this is pretty close to the experience hahaha

...except he got shot on the job, but that's neither here nor there :P

Fun game though! Cool style and cool mechanics. A bit repetitive.

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! What kind of world are we living in where even video rental employees aren't safe...

I really like the concept of having to rewind each of the tapes before putting them away. The game quickly becomes hectic as more and more customers line up making the whole thing feel really immersive. I do wish that there was some end goal though like an 8 hr work shift where you have to deal with as many customers before your shift ends in order to get more money.

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! an ending is definitely something that would have been nice rather than an infinite loop of retail work, after all the theme was rewind not hell ;)

The game is interesting! Wasn't too sure about the mechanics at first, but it makes sense after a bit. The gameplay does feel pretty repetitive though.

Developer

Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed it despite the repetitive game loop!

Nice game, managed to unlock everything, up to having a line of only 1 max. Was an enjoyable experience :)

I'd appreciate if you try our game too! :) https://hadilepanda.itch.io/corewind

I love the way you have managed to balance stress and fun this good, that has got to be hard. I also love the music. 10/10, would play again.

Really fun game! Great concept and execution. There is a softlock, though: letting a customer push you into the counter traps you.

I forgot to say in my response earlier, post your game here if you havent already and I will play and rate it:

I enjoyed this game as a slightly more skilled clicker game. I really liked the art as well. My only complaint is that the prices on the items are a bit too high. I thought they were smart ideas for items, however, I feel it takes too long to get that amount of money, and had the prices been lower, it would have made the game more interesting.

Nice concept and original take on the theme. Maybe it gets just a little repetitive a few minutes in, but i still had fun. Nice one!

Very fun game (maybe a bit stressful :D). Kinda hard though! Is there something I'm missing? I tried running the optimal routes, actually standing in front of the counter to put the cassette straight into the tv, but alas - it wasnt enough!

Developer

Its a little bit of RNG and a little bit of micro-decision making. It's definitely hard at the start but that was a conscious design decision as the main feedback loop is short and I wanted to get the most out of the few minutes that most players would be playing.

There are also little tricks to speed things up such as standing on the customers side of the counter so you don't have to run around, trying to get a close shelf return between one customer leaving the counter and another one joining rather than waiting for them to place theirs etc.

You can also swap a non-rewound from your inventory with a rewound one in the VCR if you weren't aware? I was in two minds on whether to tell people this from the start or make it one of those 'A-HA!' moments but I may have made the wrong choice if people get frustrated before discovering it.

An interesting take on the theme. Nice game overall!

I like the concept and nice take on the theme!

It took a while to get use to the movement and game play but overall well done!

I feel there should be more music or background noises.

Cool concept! I'd recommend putting the first video you have to return on the shelf inside the initial field of view - I was super confused until I realized how big the store was.

Developer(+1)

Good idea, I could have done with that suggestion around the time I made the first tutorial arrow indicators haha.

Thanks for playing.
