How does the game fit the theme?
This game is about taking risks. The player constantly has to decide whether to risk it for a big reward or play it safe.

Very nice!

Very nice game I love the graphics only wish their was better music, and more creature sounds. Over all though not bad reminds me of Bloodborne PSX a lot in the graphics. I stopped playing because my damage was reduced to 1 once I was poisoned by the rat, and didn't want to slog through the fight. Other than that I actually enjoyed it, and wouldn't mind playing again someday.

I had very bad luck

I also very much enjoyed my time in the dungeon of fear (no hunger)

Really cool submission. It's fun to choose whether the blessings are worth the risk and which blessings and curses would be the best/least bad. I also think the artstyle is cool.

What an absolute sleeper hit. Just finished my first run with the knight, but I'll sure as hell gonna play through it with the other two classes aswell.

Graphical presentation is amazing - texture work and lighting in perticular. Some strong creature designs in there. Top notch athmosphere.

A few more sounds could truely elevate this.

Oh yeah, and may I ask what the odds are for aquiring a curse over a blessing?

Thank you so much! Wasn't expecting anyone to play our game. Your feedback fills me with joy!
Our sound guy was busy all week, hence no music and only a few sounds... But I'm really tempted to make a similar game with improved visuals and sound.

The balance in our game is not that great, and characters kind of feel like difficulty levels with knight being the easiest. Be warned!

The chances of getting a blessing are 60% by default, 65% with one luck upgrade and 75% with two.

PS: As soon as I get some free time I will play and review your game too!

Oh wow, I must have gotten veeery lucky then. I beat the game on my first run collecting only one or two curses without having put anything into luck. I was wondering whether the odds were not balanced a bit too much into the player's favour, but I guess if its really 60/40 I just had a streak. Gotta do the math on that one when I feel like it.

Your game is certainly both one of the most distinct and one of the most polished of everything I've played so far in this Jam. A mate of mine actually came across it initially ( he is a big 'souls games fan and your thumbnail reminded him of those ) and insisted everyone in our group check it out aswell.

This game is awesome!
The graphics look really nice, and the gameplay is great.
My only problem was that in the "choose UI", I had no idea which skill did what.

I liked the risk element in this, it felt quite impactful when I got a curse rather than a blessing. Cool simple art style, nice audio, and fairly polished, great job!

Really enjoyed the game. I completed it . I always chose the damage penalty on the bad options, but it was a bit confusing whether it meant health loss or reduced attack damage.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

"Suffer N damage" means you receive damage

"-N damage" means your damage output will be reduced

This is a fun concept. I liked the style :D

Really like the style. Had my butt beat as jester, after which i finished a run on knight.

Developer

Thank you for playing!
Our character balance is awful and ended up acting more like difficulty level :D

Character selection was a late addition to the game and we didn't have time to properly balance it. Initially the player was supposed to choose between 3 starting spells.

Decent. Most of the time the risk out-weight the reward which make it not worth taking imo.

I'm a sucker for low fps/stop motion style animation, so the art style hooked me immediately. I really like the choosing blessings/curses mechanic as well, really helps customize each run.

I like the retro style enemies, addicting gameloop

really cool stat upgrade/downgrade mechanic. love how simple and fun this is!

Cool game! I really like the animation of moving forward and door opening. Selecting both gift and curse at the same time is great idea.

Really cool game! I instakilled all enemies with blood vow, the problem started when there were more than two enemies
